Allegedly, the gridiron was first organized in 1869 in a game between Princeton and Rutgers. Maybe the inventors thought it was a better idea to play a game of football than to have another civil war, but for whatever reason why American football was created, it has become a major success in the country. We doubt over 100 years ago, football fans and athletes could imagine how big the sport is today.

The NFL is a billion dollar enterprise and one of the main reasons for that is the success of the Dallas Cowboys. You can hate the franchise or love them, the fact of the matter is the Cowboys have helped bring in fans for decades now. Before the turn of the century, the franchise was considered at the top of the pecking order with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
