The Big Bang Theory is a show about a group of scientists who are stereotypical nerds who they collect comic books, go to science conventions and have trouble speaking to girls. Although no one had more trouble than Raj in the first few seasons, who quite literally could not speak to any woman one on one. After a pretty blonde woman moves into the apartment across the hall from Leonard and Sheldon, their group of four changes forever.
Penny’s influence inherently altered the dynamic of the group – Leonard begins to build his self-confidence which allows him to date other women when he and Penny were seeing other people. Raj eventually found the courage to speak to women, which benefited him in his social and romantic life. Howard not only matured so that he was no longer the creepy friend who was constantly hitting on her, but it was also through Penny that he met his future wife and the mother of his children. And of course Sheldon, although he always tried to deny it, Penny played a role in Sheldon’s personality change from someone who was cold and distant to a loving, empathetic husband.

He starts off as an arrogant, somewhat emotionless man who saw only the logic in the universe. Under the assumption that he was the most intelligent person in his group of friends, he constantly commented on how useless his other friends were when it came to their research. Over the seasons he has welcomed meaningful friendships into his life.

This character is a part of the main cast and has been since the pilot episode. Her arrival is what started the series, for she moved into the building where two of the other main characters lived. She has also had significant character development. When the audience meets this characters, she is a little bit ditsy, having moved to California in search of stardom.
