Only Real NFL Fans Can Match The Logo To The Team!

Having a good logo is absolutely essential for any professional sports team. Your franchise will always be represented by whatever you design you choose to make your logo. It’s the beginning of your brand.

Teams have gone with different strategies in creating their logos. Some opt for the super simplistic approach of just spelling out the team’s initials in the colours of the team, while others look to create other meaning within the design. Simplicity, of course, is key. It helps with recognition and association, but it’s also easy for fans and kids to draw themselves. Another aspect that teams have focused on is the attitude that the logo presents. Most NFL nicknames are of an animal, but how you portray that animal says a lot about your team. Let’s say your team’s mascot is a cat. If your logo design is of a fat cat eating lasagna, that’s not going to strike fear into your opponent the same way it would if the logo was a roaring lion eating an antelope carcass. In football, aggressiveness is key, so you want a logo that showcases your team’s aggressiveness.

A lot of these logos are instantly recognisable, while others may take a little more time to figure out. If you’re a fan of the NFL, however, you shouldn’t have a problem acing this quiz.

Question 1

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

This logo has not changed much at all since the team’s inception in 1930. Throughout over 80 years, the team has always sported a logo of this type of big cat. In the early days, the animal was the same colour as you’d see in the wild, along with a football player behind it. In the 1960s the team made the animal the focal point, with two pillars behind it: one blue and one silver to represent the team’s colours. The pillars were dropped just a decade later, leaving us with the logo in the picture. Whose logo is it?

Question 2

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

This is a picture of this team’s very first logo when they entered the National Football League in 1976. The franchise had very little success at the beginning, becoming one of the worst expansion teams in the history of sports. Twenty years later, the franchise decided they needed an image change. The creamsicle orange just wasn’t working for them, so they moved to burgundy/red and black. Whether the team colours were the reason or not, things got better, and they won their first Super Bowl a few years later. Which team’s logo is this?

Question 3

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

The only change to this logo since the franchise was created has been to take out the outline. In other words, it really hasn’t changed. The team entered the NFL in 1995, sporting this black jungle cat as their mascot. They have made two appearances in the Super Bowl since then, but didn’t win either of those championship games. The team’s colour scheme has provided some great jersey combinations over the years, and could be one reason that few NFL fans hate the team. Which team is it?

Question 4

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

This is an extremely simple logo that has seen lots of success. The Red and Gold “SF” has been the team’s logo since the 60s, and has gone through only very minor alterations since then. The only real edit made to this is that the black sides of the oval have been made bigger, most likely to make the logo more football-shaped. The logo they had before this was completely different, it featured a cowboy shooting a pistol into the dirt. Which team is this?

Question 5

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

This team used this logo design, or a variation of this design, from 1961 to 1992. This one may be a little easier to recognize than other classic logos because the team still uses it on their helmets from time to time when they wear their throwback jerseys. Before they used this logo, they used just the hat that this guy is wearing. After this, they use a much different looking logo that’s commonly referred to as the “Flying Elvis.” Do you know which team this is?

Question 6

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

This isn’t the complete logo that this team used, I had to edit out the team name or else this question would have been far too easy. If you’re a fan of the NFL, however, it shouldn’t be much of an issue. If you aren’t, and you can’t tell this team by its colours, the image itself has a few giveaways. What’s left of this logo still contains the first letter of the team nickname, and the team name is also referenced in the logo. Which team is it?

Question 7

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

This logo is from one of the oldest football teams in America. They began using this image of a certain animal climbing over a football from 1946, all the way until 1973. In ‘73 is when they introduced an amazingly simple logo, which is basically just the first letter of the city they play in, and they have used it ever since. It was probably a good idea, since that new logo is representative of the city now, and it’s hard to believe that would be the case if they stuck with this. Which team is it?

Question 8

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

This logo was used by this southern team from 1966 to 1989, where it underwent a very small change. The background of this image is red, so you can’t see it, but there was previously a small red outline just outside the white outline. In 1990, that red outline was changed to a black outline. In 2003 the team modernized the logo, which changed it a lot more. Red was reintroduced, but into the dirty bird’s wings to make it look 3D. The general idea of the logo stayed, and it’s still a bird in the shape of the letter “F” today.

Question 9

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

This logo was used for this expansion franchise back in 1996, but it didn’t last very long. After just three years, it was demoted to the secondary logo in place of the head of the bird the team is named after, and that is still the team’s main logo today. It didn’t last long as a secondary logo either, as it was replaced by a shield logo that contains the colours of the state flag, and ditched the wings coming out the side. Do you know which team this logo belongs to?

Question 10

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

I have to admit, using your team’s helmet as the team’s logo doesn’t seem like a great idea, but if you have the best helmets in football, why not? At this time, remarkably, both teams situated in the state of Ohio used their helmets as their logo. The stripes on the team’s helmet obviously represent the team’s nickname. While the team still uses this helmet style today, they do not still use this logo. Do you know which team this is?

Question 11

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

What is the simplest logo in all of football, is probably also the most iconic logo in all of football. Honestly, it’s probably the most iconic team logo in all of American sports. Known as “America’s Team”, this franchise has used this logo since 1964. In the four years prior to this that the franchise had been operating, it still used a blue star as the logo, just without the white and blue outlines. Do you know which team this logo belongs to?

Question 12

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

This is another extremely simple logo, although not quite as iconic as the logo from the question prior. This particular logo has been used by this franchise since 2007, although for over a decade before that the logo was the same, just a white lightning bolt instead of a yellow one. It’s not their only style of logo. The team used a 2D image of their helmet (with this logo on the side) for a number of years, and even older than that was a logo that included a two-coloured shield that also featured a horse, and a lightning bolt.

Question 13

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

This is a very old logo that was used by this franchise in the 1940s from its inception, and then again in the 1970s. In between this time, the team tinkered with the colours of the animal, as well as the direction the animal was facing. The horns went from blue, to white, to yellow, back to white, to yellow, and now gold. The animal faced right, then left for two and half decades, then went back to facing right, where it has maintained that position. Which team does this logo belong to?

Question 14

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

As dumb as this dolphin may look flying through the air in front of the sun with a football helmet on, this logo represented one of the best teams in NFL history, and the only team to go a full season, including playoffs, without losing a single game. The franchise has fallen on tougher times lately, and that may be part of the reason for the change. The new logo is much sleeker, and the helmet is gone off the dolphin, making it look better, but also not as cute. I wouldn’t have done it. Which team is this?

Question 15

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

Really not too much to say about this logo, as it is another design that follows the simple but effective approach. The horseshoe has reached the point now where it’s instantly recognizable to even a casual football fan. It’s a much simpler design than the previous logo, which featured a bucking bronco holding a football while his helmet is coming off. There was the option of laying the horseshoe sideways so it could spell out the first letter of the team’s nickname, but instead it points up for good luck. Which team is it?

Question 16

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

If this logo itself didn’t strike fear into the hearts of opponents in the 1970s, the team would do that themselves. While other logos (the dolphin in particular), don’t really look too intimidating, or suitable for a sport as violent as football, this one definitely is. The logo really sets the tone for the entire franchise. Their fans have even gotten in on the act, dressing up in ridiculous, yet creepy, outfits every game, and also naming their fan section “The Black Hole”. Which team is this?

Question 17

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

This is another logo that may be easier to recognize because it’s featured on the team’s throwback jerseys, which they use regularly. I think they use the logo so often for a reason, that being this logo is actually better than the one they currently use. Sure it’s simple, but all the best football logos are. Also, the fact that the animal is standing with its head bowed in embarrassment is much more fitting for this franchise than a logo that depicts this animal in mid-run. Which team used to use this logo?

Question 18

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

This team has changed their logo three times since their inception in 1976, but the changes were all due to the team changing their colour scheme. The bright green that’s used in this bird’s eye used to be one of the main colours from 1976 to 2001, when that part was swapped out for this blue, which was then swapped in 2012 for grey. The only other major change was the shape of the eye, which was also changed in 2001. Do you know which team this logo belongs to?

Question 19

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

This is another simple logo that this franchise hasn’t felt the need to change. This version of the design has been touched up in 2013, but to the untrained eye it’s basically been the same since 1966. Prior to 1966, the logo was still the same, just with a white face and moustache, and the head also faced the opposite way. I really see no reason to change it again after this update. It’s clean, and easily recognizable. Which team uses this logo?

Question 20

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

This logo has a pretty cool history. It was designed by the city’s steel workers, for the city’s steel workers. The coloured astroids represent the three ingredients of the steelmaking process: coal (yellow), iron ore (orange), and scrap steel (blue). It is also the only logo that appears on only one side of the team’s helmets, which happened when they tested the logo for one game, and everyone liked the fact it was different. Which NFL team uses this logo?

Question 21

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

Another logo, another big cat being used as that logo. This team has used the head of this type of cat since the beginning of the franchise in 1996, although it has changed quite a bit during their rebrand in 2013. It’s hard to describe how the current logo differs from the one used today because of how similar the two are to each other. One thing is for sure, the new logo looks much more 3-Dimensional than the one pictured. Which team is it?

Question 22

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

I wish I could use a different logo for this franchise’s question, but they really haven’t changed their logo much over the years. That, of course, is one of the problems that people have with this franchise. Both the logo and the team’s nickname have been criticized for racial insensitivity, and it’s really tough to argue against it. The team even had their trademark rights revoked by the United States Patent and Trademark Office in recent years. Do you know which team this is?

Question 23

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

If you know the names of both New York football franchises, and you already answered question #6 correctly, you should be able to get this one without even reading this description. If you’re reading this description to get a hint, there’s really nothing I can say that won’t give it away. This logo is simple, but does nothing to reference the team’s nickname, unlike logos the franchise used in the past. Do you know which team this logo belongs to?

Question 24

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

This logo is really the only one that this team has used since it moved to its current city from Houston in 1999. It features a flaming shield that, due to the orientation of the fire, is either flying through the sky, or is in the middle of a lot of wind. The three stars come from the state flag represent the mountains, highlands, and lowlands: the three landforms in the state. Still, it would look better if the “T” looked more like a sword than a thumbtack. Which team is this?

Question 25

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

I can’t be the only one who thinks that this logo is better looking than the one this team is currently using. The franchised used this as their team’s main logo from 1968-1992. After that, they kind of ruined it. They changed the beautiful bright orange to a much duller burnt orange, and three years later scrapped the image all together. The new logo is in their new colours, a duller orange and a darker blue, and they took away the big “D”, leaving just the horse’s head as the logo. Which team is this?

Question 26

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

Alright, I believe this will be the last bird logo from an NFL team this quiz, and there sure have been a lot of them. Of all the birds that have found themselves representing an American football team, this is probably the most American. This particular logo has been used since 1996, and can finally be seen as good luck since they recently won their franchise’s first Super Bowl. It was getting to the point where I may have gone back to the logo from the 50s, when the team previously won championships. Which team is this?

Question 27

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

Not too much to say about this logo, as again it is really straight forward in its design. The arrowhead obviously is a reference to the team’s nickname, while the big lettering represents the city that the team plays out of. They’ve had this logo since 1972, and haven’t made a single change, aside from improved graphics as the technology has gotten better. Prior to this, the team’s logo featured a Native American running a football across the background of America’s southern midwest states. Do you know which team’s logo this is?

Question 28

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

It’s really only fitting that the saddest franchise in football also has the most pathetic logo in the league. That’s why, in my opinion, if this team ever wants to change things they should consider going back to this logo. What significance does the young elf holding a football have to the franchise? Pretty much nothing, but a plain orange helmet isn’t exactly exciting or meaningful either. At least this kid looks like he has some pride. Which franchise used to use this logo?

Question 29

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

This logo design is taken from the heritage of the city that this team plays in. It’s a city with a rich French background, and this symbol, known as the fleur-de-lis, was formerly used as the royal arms of France. It also carries religious significance, as it is used in depictions of Catholic saints. Many sports teams use this in one way or another, such as the Quebec Nordiques, Montreal Expos, and Montreal Impact, as well as teams from outside Canada’s French-speaking province. However, this team is most likely the only one that uses it in these colours.

Question 30

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

This team has kept the same logo since the creation of the franchise back in 2002. There’s no real need to change the logo at all considering it checks all the boxes of what you want. The colours are representative of both the team, and the country they play in. The logo’s shape, as well as the shape of the eye is a reference to which part of the country they play out of. The logo is also kind of shaped like one of the first letters of the team name. And lastly, it’s simple. Which team is it?

Question 31

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

This is one of the most recognizable logos in all of football, but that’s probably due more to the team’s success than to the actual logo. A football-shaped “G” is remarkably simple, and the amount of winning this team has done has inspired many minor football teams to copy the design. This has been this team’s logo since 1980. The only difference between this and the one they used from 1961-1980 was they added the yellow outline. Which team is this?

Question 32

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

Another question, another NFL team using a bird’s head as their logo design. This team recently cleaned up their logo in 2005 to make it look like the picture here, but it really wasn’t that different prior to the alteration. Unfortunately there are no hints in the logo, such as a letter that appears in the team name, or a reference to the city they play out of. However, this is the last current NFL team in this quiz, so pick the one that hasn’t been an answer yet.

Question 33

Which former NFL team’s logo is this?

This logo was used by an NFL franchise from 1980-1998, when they underwent a full re-brand a year or two after relocating to a different city. The team kept some of the same colours, but changed the team’s nickname, as well as the logo. Luckily for football fans from this city, it didn’t even take a decade for NFL football to return. Of course, they left this logo and the team name behind with the other franchise. Do you know which of these teams used to use this logo?

Question 34

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

This team was founded in the 1950s in the American Football League, and operated under this team name for just three years before changing it. A couple years after that, this team joined the NFL as part of the merger between the two leagues in 1970. This team would go on to be the first from the former AFL to win the Super Bowl, and though the team still exists today, they haven’t won the big game since. What was this team called?

Question 35

Which NFL team’s logo is this?

I’m very happy that I found this logo because it immediately vaulted into my top five sports logos of all-time. I’m not sure which others round out the top five, but I do know that this is definitely in there. Look at this piece of artwork. Is it a football player in pads with a bird’s head? Or, is it a half-man half-bird person whose upper body just happens to take the shape of football pads? I don’t know. Either way, it’s running a football past the city’s most recognizable landmark and it looks ridiculous in the best possible way.
