J.K. Rowling was not shy about killing off her characters from the Harry Potter series. She killed animals, heroes, and villains alike. So many of our favourite characters have moved on in a few different ways, but most often with the Killing Curse. "Avada Kedavra" are the final words that many wizards and witches have heard before they were hit by the bright flash of green light and took their final breaths.

Yes, she writes off the good characters quite often, but she doesn't back away from killing Death Eaters too. Then, she counteracts our relief by having us read through the deaths of our favourite people and our relief is turned upside down.
