Only Geography Buffs Will Be Able To Match These Flags To The Country

There are as many as 195 countries in the world today and each one of these countries has its own unique and distinctive culture, language, religion and of course, its very own national flag. National flags are rather important for they let other nations in the world know a little more about the nation behind the flag - the nation's beliefs and even the nation's culture.

Indeed, one of the very first few things that every newly independent country does is it creates its own flag. The design of each flag is carefully thought out. In fact, more often than not it is experts in heraldry that are tasked with creating an appropriate flag design for the country although sometimes public competitions for flag designs are also held. The colors and the shapes used are almost never accidental and more often than not carry deep symbolism. It may not be obvious at a first glance but colors, shapes and even the size of the flag can tell one a lot about the country that the flag represents.

So why are flags so important? The answer is quite simple: since they represent different countries they also unite the natives of these different countries. The only thing is: with so many countries in the world, it is near impossible to remember the flag of every nation.

Question 1

Match this flag to the country.

Let’s start off with an easy one. This flag here is known as the Union Jack or the Union Flag. This flag was adopted more than 200 years ago – all the way back in 1801.
