The Vampire Diaries is a supernatural teen series that aired from 2009 through 2017 on The CW. The series is set in the small, fictional town of Mystic Falls that may seem like an ordinary small town on the surface, but underneath its charming exterior, this town hides a majorly spooky secret. This town has been the home to a lot of supernatural creatures including werewolves, vampires, witches, and sirens for centuries. There are many citizens living in the town who are totally aware of the supernatural creatures living in the town and they try to keep the town free of them and safe for the other citizens who have no idea about them.
The series aired for a total of eight seasons and although it kept a lot of the same characters from the very beginning of the series all the way until the end of it, there were quite a few characters that left at some point in the series for many different reasons and characters that were introduced later on in the series.
