Only A Walker Would Fail This The Walking Dead Quiz

We live in a world where there is no form of art that can't be turned into a different form of art, with our expectation in the entertainment world being ridiculously high when it comes to what can and cannot be adapted into something else. That's why it came as no surprise to anyone in the know that the hugely popular The Walking Dead series was going to be adapted from a comic book to a television show. Unsurprisingly, this show proved to be hugely popular as well, which is why it is still being written and produced for our television screens.

Never wanting to provide you with anything other than quizzes on the most up-to-date entertainment out there, we thought it would be fun to put together a quiz that will test your knowledge of the show, allowing the biggest fans out there to show off just how smart they are when it comes to walkers and survivors. If you think that you're the kind of person who doesn't miss anything in their television shows and have a real love for The Walking Dead, we think that this quiz is the one for you. Don't be fooled though, some of these questions can get pretty tough!

So, are you ready to show off your The Walking Dead skills? Think that you've got what it takes to get 100%? Well then, let's find out!

Question 1

What Do The Survivors Call The Zombies In The Walking Dead?

Believe it or not, but the word zombies is never actually uttered in the show, something that we believe is carried over from the original comic book series. We like it when franchises do this, the creatives behind them deciding that they'd rather go their own way with it and try to create a world that is entirely their own, rather than rely on the ideas that came before them. This can be hard work but we think that it's worth it.

Question 2

How Many Prisoners Join The Survivors In Season Two?

The whole story arc that takes place in the prison wasn't really put together as well as we thought it could have been. The tension was pretty high between the survivors and the prisoners, but we think they could've gone further with it, making a real point about how an apocalyptic situation like this really does put us all on the same level, with none of society's taboos or hierarchy's mattering once the world completely loses it's mind and goes to nothing.

Question 3

After The Barn Massacre, Where Does Hershel Go?

It was important that the writers of the show got through to the audience on how all systems had broken down, that there was no respect for anything other than chaos, which we think they did perfectly when it came to the situation with the bar. Marshall law rules in situations like an apocalypse. You can fight your corner all you want, but it doesn't mean that you'll win if you're outnumbered by the rest of the survivors that surround you.

Question 4

How Does Michonne Keep Herself Safe Before Joining The Survivors?

While it's true that most of the situations in the early part of The Walking Dead are solved by brute force or violence, Michonne is the first character to show the audience that through creative thinking and a lot of cunning, there are ways of dealing with the walkers that aren't immediately obvious to everyone else. She showed us that there is still a place for thought and ingenuity in a post-apocalyptic world, and that ignoring this could be your downfall.

Question 5

Name This Character

Every group of people needs a leader, which is exactly the position that this man steps up to become. While it is a position that will regularly be threatened, either by outside forces or within your own ranks, it is something that is needed no matter how much we'd like to pretend otherwise. Organisation and a keen mind are needed at the top of a hierarchy if the people below are to ever achieve or accomplish anything of worth, as well as staying alive while doing it.

Question 6

Name This Character

This character has never reached his full potential if you ask us, especially not in the way that the comic book manages to use him. The concept of growing up as a child in a world like this is something that throws up so many questions and conflicts that could be discussed and discovered through some good character writing, but the show never takes the chance to. They keep it easy, using him as a tool to make his dad more susceptible to weakness.

Question 7

Name This Character

What started as a bit of comic fun at the beginning of the show very quickly turned into one of the most interesting characters in the series, somebody who appeared weak at first but manages to become strong in the insane situation he's placed into. The loss of this guy was genuinely a rough moment, something you wouldn't have guessed when first meeting him all the way back in the first episode of the series. Now that, is some good character writing.

Question 8

Name This Character

This guy is absolutely amazing in the comic books and we hate what they did to him in the show. At first, we thought it was the actor we didn't like, but now we think that it's the writing. The guy acts the character well, but the writing just doesn't bring the evil nature of the character across in the same way that the comic books manage to. He is a silly character in the books, but a terrifying one at the same time. In the show, he's just silly.

Question 9

Name This Character

One way that we think that The Walking Dead succeeded with its characters is by creating genuinely flawed but strong female characters. They defy stereotype and you can properly relate to their struggle as well. One positive that would come from a The Walking Dead style scenario is that with the complete destruction of society as we know it comes the destruction of all the negative ways in which we judge and belittle minorities. Women would finally be on a level playing field.

Question 10

Name This Character

When adapting one art form into another, you're able to take certain liberties in the hope of adding something new, not just recreating exactly the same thing. We think this is exactly what the writers started with Daryl. If you didn't know, this fan favorite actually never appears in the comic books, meaning that he's an entirely new creation for the television show. We imagine many people loved the character so much they were devastated to find out he wasn't even in the comics.

Question 11

Name This Character

We're not saying that we want all female characters to be like this woman because it would get ridiculously tiring and wouldn't give an honest portrayal of the entire spectrum of women that live in the real world. That being said, it is cool to have an unrelenting badass on the team of survivors who is also female. Believe it or not, but women like this also exist in the real world, and more of them would be created by a world like the one in The Walking Dead.

Question 12

Name This Character

At first, we thought what the writers were doing with this character by making her slowly become a horrible human being due to the situation around her was actually really smart. She started off so innocent and nice, but it's impossible to stay like that in a post-apocalyptic world. That being said, we think they've probably gone way too far with it at this point and pushed it over the edge into something entirely unbelievable. Maybe you disagree, but she has lost all credibility for us.

Question 13

Name This Character

One thing we've always enjoyed about the show is that it always makes time for every character, no matter how much of a side-character they may seem at the time. Some may cynically argue that this is so the writers always have a chance to bring them in as a major character if they want to, but we prefer to think that the writers understand that a group of survivors is only as strong as its weakest member. Therefore, we have to keep an eye on them all.

Question 14

Name This Character

Now this is yet another side character, so we're going to go off set for this one and let you know that the woman playing this character is actually the sister of the actor who played Francis in Malcolm In The Middle. That means that Malcolm In The Middle has a connection to both The Walking Dead and Malcolm In The Middle. Who knew that the comedy show detailing what it can be like to life in a low income household as child prodigy would up with such dark connections!

Question 15

Name This Character

This guy is probably our favorite character in both the comic books and the show, which is why it's a shame that the show has continued to keep him around. In the show, he's able to overcome the guilt of losing his family and becomes a sworn protector who refuses to kill, which seems ridiculous in a zombie apocalypse if you ask us. However, in the comic books, his run ends in a very different and much more satisfying way.

Question 16

Name This Character

The concept of ageing is something that the comic book has played around with well, having different characters of different ages come together and have relationships you wouldn't expect in the real world, highlighting how your priorities can change in a world run by zombies. While the show flirts with this idea, it never really goes for it, probably to ensure that their terrifying apocalyptic drama doesn't go "too far." Yet another way that the comic books got it right and the show didn't.

Question 17

Name This Character

If you're anything like us, you absolutely hate this character and were glad to see him go once he was finally removed from the show. He's a slimy man, somebody who is looking out for himself, even in a world where all we have left is empathy and community. The comic books made the right decision in killing him off much earlier than the show writers did. He was kept around for far too long if you ask us our opinion.

Question 18

Name This Character

Just as society's expectations around gender falling away once the world devolved into an apocalypse, the concept of races being inherently different is gladly left behind in the world of The Walking Dead. Insane to think that the only way we can achieve true equality in the modern world is by having the entire world be taken down by a catastrophic event. Just shows you how far we've still got to go before things are how they should be in this world.

Question 19

Name This Character

It must be a hard thing for television writers to decide who gets killed and who doesn't in a drama like this. If you make one wrong move, you can end up alienating whole groups of your audience, possibly even killing your show to enough people to get it cancelled. As people who have read the comic books, it makes no sense to us that this woman was killed off as early as she was when she plays such an integral part in the books.

Question 20

Name This Character

While it's a pretty sombre occasion when any of the characters die in this show, sometimes bringing some of the audience to tears, it always hits harder when they're turned into one of the walkers, as it means they then have to be dealt with by whoever wants to do the dealing. Either that, or they end up turning while in a situation where it sorts itself out rather than make one of the other characters do the deed and kill them.

Question 21

Doctors In Which Country Once Came Close To Finding A Cure?

Having it so the chance of a cure being found is completely destroyed right at the beginning of the show is definitely the right move if you ask us, as it allows the writers to completely ignore that side of apocalyptic fiction and start focusing on what the comic books are about. This narrative is about the connection between humans and the way that communities and individuals continue to try and survive long after others would have given up and died.

Question 22

What Is The Name Of Andrea's Sister?

As previously mentioned, the use of Rick's son in the comics is far better than the way he's used in the show, as it would seem the television writers only want to use him as a way of making Rick vulnerable. However, it's not just with Rick that the writers use this cheap shorthand. They seem to use it with everyone who has surviving family after the outbreak of whatever is causing the walkers. This is cheap writing and shouldn't be allowed.

Question 23

When Did The First Episode Premiere?

Believe it or not, but the first script for The Walking Dead actually saw the adaptation only existing as a mini series, with the writers deciding in the end that they thought it could go the distance and last longer than a single series. Now that they're well into writing their eighth season, they must be pretty happy that they decided to go for it and dream big. Whether you like where the show has gone or not, it's impossible to deny that it's popular.

Question 24

What Weapon Is Daryl Famous For Using?

If you're going to create a badass character that you want everyone to love, you're going to have to come up with a similarly badass weapon for him to wield, something that makes his appearance in a scene instantly recognizable. They did this perfectly with Daryl if you ask us, even offering a backstory as to why he's able to wield it with such ability. That's the sort of writing that television needs to fall back on more in the future.

Question 25

What Does The Governor Keep In His House?

While it's ridiculous to immediately suspect somebody in the real world for hiding something, wanting to have their private life kept relatively secret from the people around them, it should be an immediate warning sign in a world where secrecy seems pretty pointless. You must be hiding something horrible if you can't come out and say it once the apocalypse has happened. People will end up judging you more for not coming out and saying it than they will for what you're hiding in the first place.

Question 26

What Weird Thing Have Fans Done To The Actors On The Show?

If there's one thing any major fan of a show will tell you, it's that the weird fans end up ruining it for the rest of us. Rick and Morty fans will know this better than any other modern fanbase, and the fans of The Walking Dead are no different. Why can't we just enjoy something without turning it into our whole lives? If you've got no personality to the point where you have to make one out of a show, you need to get some new hobbies.

Question 27

Name This Character

Much to the chagrin of this character and others later on in the show's run, the concept of age before beauty doesn't really exist in a world that is post-apocalypse. The wisdom and life lessons that you've built over the years no longer count for anything, as the world that they allude to is gone. In a way, it must make you feel as if you have nothing to offer, and isn't that a perfect metaphor for how so many old people feel in the real world?

Question 28

Name This Character

You would think that once the world completely loses its marbles and we're all thrown in together as one that it would weed out all of the truly horrible people, the ones who might be good at surviving but still hold onto the anger and prejudice that they gathered while living in the world that came before. If anything, the rest of the survivors should round these people up and just destroy them, as they serve no purpose whatsoever at this point.

Question 29

Name This Character

The concept of being a pregnant woman is terrifying enough, but throw in the concept of having to be one during a zombie apocalypse and you've got a recipe for a panic attack right there. The horrible thing is, you would quite understandably start to wonder about whether or not you should be having this baby, whether it's worth trying to keep them alive in a world where they have no real future, where nobody has any future beyond survival.

Question 30

Name This Character

Another character that proves there's some genuine worth to being intelligent in the world of The Walking Dead, this guy manages to use his intelligence and cunning to keep himself alive for a very long time. Obviously, his plan does come to an end, but people forgive him and realise that he is a perfect addition to any group of survivors, as his extensive knowledge will have him helping out in situations where the application of brute force just won't work.

Question 31

Name This Character

We never thought it would be possible for a ginger man to look so badass, but this piece of muscle and gristle completely proved us wrong. Not only that, but he's even got a ginger handlebar moustache, which is a double whammy of uncool that this guy is totally working. Throw in the gun and the cigar, you've got a serious amount of badass that keeps this guy really interesting even though he doesn't come across as very complex throughout his run on the show.

Question 32

Name This Character

While it may just be because the concept of religion hasn't done much for us in the real world, the idea that anybody would try to keep it going into a post-apocalyptic world seems insane to us. At that point, you have to let go of the things that you held dear, let go of the idea that there is any rhyme or reason to the world. How could a loving God allow a plague of this magnitude come to the world?

Question 33

What Does Daryl Say Before Shooting Dale?

As happy as we are with some of the female characters in The Walking Dead, we also have to say that there's something to be said for the way the writers are able to make sure that these badass men keep their humanity as well. They have touching moments, ones that show they're not completely emotionally destroyed by the devastation around them. This is important, as it keeps the audience invested in real characters that make sense to them as believable.

Question 34

The Governor Is The Leader Of Which Town?

Is it just us, or should television shows and films stop giving bad guys eyepatches? At this point, it's just as cliche as giving them a thick English accent. Once you see someone like this, you know that they're going to end up doing something that annoys the good guys in the story, no matter how serious that thing may be. It makes more sense in a world like The Walking Dead, but we still don't think it's warranted at all.

Question 35

What Other AMC Show Is Set In The Same Universe As The Walking Dead?

This sort of universe building is something that we always have time for and think that more shows should take it into consideration when they're trying to build a believable world. All it has to be is a minor nod that only serious fans will notice, a little Easter Egg that is fun for the audience to enjoy, that then has everyone considering the wider world around the specific characters that we're currently zoomed in on. It goes a long way to keeping people happy.
