If there is one thing The Walking Dead is known for, it's for being the bloodthirstiest show on television. Because it follows an ever-changing group of survivors as they attempt to stay alive in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by walkers (don't call 'em zombies), the cast of characters are always at risk of being munched on or befalling some other fatal tragedy.
The hit series has been on the air for eight seasons now, with its cast having been almost entirely replaced over the years as the survivors come and go. Of course, a handful of long-running characters have managed to beat every obstacle and danger that has come their way and are still standing - but, knowing TWD, they might not last forever.
But do you remember which The Walking Dead characters are dead or alive? Rick Grimes
Former sheriff Rick Grimes is the audience’s identification figure on The Walking Dead as the show opened from his point of view, as he woke up from a coma and found himself in a post-apocalyptic wasteland in which much of the world’s population had either turned into a walker or eaten by one. Carl Grimes
Carl Grimes is Rick’s young son. Unlike many other characters on the show, he has had to grow up in this post-apocalyptic world as he was only about 10 years old when the walker outbreak began. Shane Walsh is a supporting character on the show’s six-episode debut season and the first major antagonist of the series in the second. Carol has undergone one of the most fascinating character developments of anyone on The Walking Dead. She began as a meek, repressed housewife. By the later seasons, Carol has killed over two dozen people which has left her keen to seek out a life of solitude. She is played by Mellisa McBride. Michonne
Michonne is one of the most capable and self-sufficient characters on The Walking Dead. Before she joined with Rick’s group, she chained herself to two walkers (who used to be her friends!) in order to mask her human scent. The Governor
The Governor - real name: Phillip Blake - is the charismatic but totally insane leader of the Woodbury community. He is power-mad and will do anything to keep his leadership absolute. Andrea
Andrea is most known for betraying Rick’s group to the Governor, after embarking on a romantic relationship with him. Simon
