Shameless is perhaps one of the grimiest, most ridiculous yet simultaneously down to earth shows out on tv right now. There is something about it that really makes the viewer both despise and love the characters. I can't stand the situations all these characters find themselves in, but I can't help but want to watch them succeed and finally find their way to easy street...or at least find their way to make through another day where they are.
It's a very crazy show with a cast of very VERY crazy characters and that is the exact reason why we're here today. It's pretty difficult to source photos of the cast of Shameless without there being something a little too dark or explicit for quiz-taker but it's been done for these 30 Shameless characters. Now, what is the point?
Well, it's up to the would-be quiz-taker to name each and every one of these characters. Some of them will be trivially easy but I bet that, unless there are a bunch of true Shameless fans jumping in on this quiz, it won't be as easy as people might think. That being said, this quiz is for the true Shameless fan anyway. So get ready to slum it with the Gallaghers and their friends and name each of these Shameless characters!

This kid is a strange friend of one of the Gallagher boys. He doesn't talk all that much and when he does, he tends to get either himself or Carl in trouble with someone. He finds himself attracted to a number of girls but he always seems to strike out. Deb had a thing for him at one time and even did a horrible makeup job to try and get his attention. Eventually, they manage to connect, once this guy finally notices Deb.

This is an interesting character to actually ends up being married to Veronica at one point in the story. Not really though. They simply pretend to be married so as to stay suspicions of this character coming to the country illegally. For a time, she becomes part of the relationship of Kevin and V (until she takes ownership of the bar without them knowing). She ends up with child at one point, and even though she's a lady of the night, she puts the responsibility on Mickey (since she was hired to pull him away from Ian.
Who is this lovely lady?
This is probably one of the most ridiculous recurring characters in the entire series. Of course, all of the characters are at least a little messed up but this one has a bit of a detailed interest in large fruit. Not for herself, but for Frank (or whoever she might have in her grasp at the time). She has a very intense fear of public places (at least for a time) and it is a mighty effort for her to even get as far as the end of the street.

This is Fiona's very best friend. She is the voice of reason in a lot of cases when it comes to grounding Fiona from plans to do something awful to her father Frank. And sometimes, she is the voice of ill reason, trying to convince Fiona to do those very awful things. Not like it's ever undeserved but that's not the point. This character is in a constantly evolving relationship with Kevin. Maybe not always, but their scenes together are a source of great hilarity.
Who is this woman?
This character doesn't appear until a few seasons in but she is actually the oldest daughter of one Frank Gallagher. The only reason that we even know this to begin with is because Frank goes looking for her so he can take a piece of her liver (because he's heavily destroyed his own). For starters, she didn't even know until that episode that she was Frank's daughter. Which means she must have lived a decent life until that day. She has an ongoing feud with the rest of the Gallaghers and their friends.

This character just can't be missed out. This is the mother of Frank Gallagher. And it shows. When viewers first meet this formidable woman, she is already serving time in prison and some of the Gallaghers have to barter with her in order to enlist her help. Then she harps on about one of her sons still owing her money and she says a few choice words of what she'll do to her own son if she doesn't get paid back. A real winner.

This is the very troubled mother of the Gallagher children. Or at least most of them at any rate (even if not with Frank - in the case of Ian). Having left the kids to fend for themselves with Frank always getting in the way of survival, she returns with a trucker girlfriend and seeks to take one of the children for their own (the one who happens not to be hers). At a seemingly decent Thanksgiving meal, later on down the road, she tried to do away with herself pretty well in front of all the children.

This is Fiona's boss. Fiona's corporate boss a few seasons into the show when Fiona finally seems to have landed a steady source of income. More than that, this guy becomes her boyfriend as well, which is pretty exciting until she messes it up being sleeping with this guy's brother. Amazingly, he doesn't fire her. However, when she lands herself in prison and this guy gets her out, he says he never wants to see her again. Which is pretty fair.

This guy is one messed up character. Sure, they're all a little messed up but this guy seems to really have a chip on his shoulder. It's pretty obvious, from the start, that he has fallen in love with Ian Gallagher, but he won't show it in any other way but through violence, which makes for a very interesting story arc. Eventually, his feelings come out, but not until after he gets shot and goes to jail (both for different things)

This girl is known around her area of town and at the local school. She's known to be a bit free in terms of some forms of expression and she has gained a reputation because of that. However, if someone really gets on her bad side, she has her big brothers out beating them up. When she came on to her best friend Ian, and he shrugged her off (because he is interested in men), she felt humiliated and sent her brothers after him...

This is the oldest boy in the family and perhaps the smartest as well. He can make killer robots that blow up opponents with a laser beam (stolen by the military. He is constantly asked to straighten up and actually focus on school so he can be somebody and has been offered several military contracts because of his genius. He is a lot like good ol' Will Hunting. A genius who is just used to a way of life and doesn't aspire to much more.

This lovely lady is not always that lovely. In fact, she's usually pretty upset as a person. She is co-owner of the convenient store that the Gallaghers and friends hang out at, purchase from and steal from. There is also some interesting backdoor business going on as well with supplying the ice cream truck that Kevin and Lip use to make money with over the summer. Ian has a brief relationship with this character's husband and she uses that to ensure that the husband gives her another child.

This guy is probably the funniest guy in the entire series. He's not exactly the brightest character in the world but that doesn't mean he doesn't have a few good ideas. And he is just a loveable guy who wants nothing more than a strong business at the bar he works at and a loving family to take care. He can fly off the handle every once in a while but it's always in a funny way (almost always). And his relationship is never dull.

This fiery redhead is one of the great bartenders of the Alibi Room. She always has a comment to make that is timed just perfectly, and aside from that, she also is one of the few characters who has a good sense of morals that she's not afraid to uphold. There are not many characters like that in this show. She witnesses Frank calling child services on his own kids and she is the first person to let him know that that's a new all-time low.

This guy is the owner of the local convenience store that always features some sort of underhanded business. There is often a bit of a trade system there rather than actual taking of money. There is even a shooting there at one point. And it's this very character who shoots Mickey for mouthing off (and for having been caught with Ian whom this character had fallen for). The name of the store also happens to be the name of this character.

This character is probably one of the most screwed up. She has her times of relative calm but she really has many more significant times of some scary business. Besides her being a little frivolous with the Gallagher boys (and anyone else she fancies), she drops it all just to get a car from her dad...and when he calls her a rather vulgar name, she loses her mind and eventually has her way with Frank Gallagher (and films it). And then she finds herself engaged to a very strange man.

This guy is probably the strangest looking of all the characters. He's not grotesque but not particularly attractive. He looks like a strange creature all the same though. Like a calm surfer dude who is a bit of a sociopath and biker. He may not be any or all of those things but he ends up engaged to a much younger girl, and then starts sleeping with that girl's mom. He has a very interesting past and a much more interesting present.

This is Fiona's on-again/off-again boyfriend. We meet him in the very first episode of the show where he desperately tries to save Fiona's purse from being stolen. Of course, that doesn't work but he does end up impressing her by punching out a bouncer who is many times larger than he. However, it is found out that he is living a double life and is stealing cars for a living which the local cop who has feelings for Fiona makes sure to sort out.

A very crazy and flirtatious and fairly free and fun-loving character, this lovely lady goes out of her way to try and turn out Fiona Gallagher. She seems to love swinging any direction she pleases and tries to have a bit of fun with Fiona (in spite of her husband). She also meets up with rich guys throughout the week when her husband is away or at work, so that she can have the lifestyle she wants but still the stability at home.

This kid wants so badly to go to Westpoint so that he can both enlist and be guaranteed a spot as an officer but he has no connections to get himself in. And the fact that he's gay doesn't help his case either. His brother does try to help him with connections but job offers are made to the wrong brother and fights ensue. This guy has a constant and very interesting relationship with Mickey while also having fun with the store clerk and Fiona's boyfriend's father.

This is the daddy of them all. Patriarch of the Gallagher family, he is always throwing his family under the figurative bus so that he can find more money to get more of something to take or drink. The cycle seems neverending. Even when he takes time to go clean, just to make money to go on a bender. Of course, something always goes wrong with his ploys (And then one or two little things will go right). This character is played by William H. Macy

This is not technically the mother of all the Gallagher kids, but she may as well be considered such. At least for most of the time. She is the eldest daughter of the Gallagher family...at least, she is the eldest daughter of people who are aware that they are related to Frank Gallagher. She is also the one who sacrifices herself perhaps the most in order to provide for the kids. This changes, season to season, but she is always looking out for her family.

This girl is the unfortunate victim of a religious cult where, at 11, she was married to a senior citizen and was made to bear his child also. When she is brought in by Kevin and V, she thinks that she is to perform certain explicit chores for Kevin since he is taking care of her. Quickly, V and Kev find a way to help her out and she ends up gardening a giant grow op (most of which must be burned).

Steve, or Jimmy, or whatever his name is, ends up married to this woman, in spite of the fact that he is in love with Fiona. This happens because of his boss for whom he has been stealing cars and wheeling and dealing in whatever other ways to make a living. When she comes stateside, she finds comfort with a few different people. She even ends up with Lip for a very brief time. She watches her boyfriend get shot by her father and Jimmy has to help with the disposal.

This is the father of Karen and the very standoffish husband of Sheila. It's interesting that he gets so mad to find out that his daughter is a bit of a free spirit when he is the one that is appeasing Sheila with her strange fascination for very large fruit. Once he tries to hunt down Frank because of the very strange thing that happened between he and Karen, he ends up going to his ice shack and jumping in.

Perhaps one of my favorite characters, this little girl (who is actually now all grown up) is perhaps one of the most heartbreaking characters in the entire series. Every time she is hurt by something or someone, she wears it on her face so intensely that it is hard not to feel for her. Her character changes a lot through the show and many people don't like how she has grown up but it's still the same person. The actor is currently taking a break because of her own personal demons.

What a lovely lady, this woman. When Fiona manages to land her corporate job, she is shown through the ropes by this very polite and very informative lady. Of course, she is not really all that informative with the workings of the company. Sure, she points out where to find what and what to expect but she spends more time warning Fiona about what it could mean if she has cramps when it is actually not her time of month.

While she might look pretty comparable in age to V, this is in fact V's mother! She is the proud owner of a beauty salon. At one point, when Kev and V look to have kids (after V is finally convinced) they look to this woman to be the surrogate. However, after she finally gives birth to Kevin and Veronica's kid, she discovers that she really wants to be the one to raise it. Of course, the two let her do so.

He might be one of the most, if not the most troubled of the Gallagher boys. When we are first introduced to this character, he is nuking his (and others') toys in the microwave, and generally playing with fire in order to see what happens to plastic as it melts. This is just the beginning of the very interesting, strange and deranged things he does. When he goes to camp (for cancer kids, though he doesn't have cancer), he manages to give those kids ome very good times.

This banker is one of Fiona's many dates throughout the series. He picks her up at the bar that both she and V work at. They actually have a pretty cute relationship for a time, but when Jimmy comes back, everything is ruined. Which is sad because this character gets Fiona back into running track, which was one of her passions when she was at school as it freed her for those moments. This guy discovers it's all over at a dinner date with Jimmy and Estefania and Fiona. Very awkward.
