Only A True Avenger Would Know These Marvel Heroes' Real Names!

Happy ten years of Marvel! Well, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, to be exact. How could we forget pre-2008 Marvel movies like Ghost Rider, Elektra, or Spider-Man 3?

As our way of celebrating ten years of Iron Man, Captain America, Black Panther, and all of the other superheroes who provide us with laughs and tears two to three times a year, let's see how well you know the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We're going to show you images of heroes (and some allies) and you're going to tell us their real names. Some questions may ask for first or last names only, so you should know those too.

Any and all of the characters on here come from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so that means no Fantastic 4, no Venom, no Deadpool, and no X-Men. We will also include superheroes who appeared in TV shows that are canon with the MCU, which means the six Netflix shows (Daredevil; Jessica Jones; Luke Cage; Iron Fist, The Defenders; and The Punisher) and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

And because we said heroes only, that obviously means no villains. You won't have to worry about finding Hela's real name from Thor: Ragnarok or anything like that. Though we would advise you to study up on the villains in case they appear in future quizzes...

Question 1

Captain America

Cap is technically the first Avenger and he's my favorite hero from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so we're starting with him. From a frail, asthmatic young man in World War II times to the hero of a war and multiple battles for America and Earth, this guy has been on quite a journey for the past 100 years...though it's really only felt about 37 or 38 for him. And yes, we have to say 'this guy' as to not say his real name.

Question 2

The Winter Soldier/White Wolf

Normally, I'd put Iron Man right after Captain America because the Marvel Cinematic Universe started with, as Thor would say, the Man of Iron. But The Winter Soldier - or as he's going by now, White Wolf - has such a history with Captain America that it only feels right to include him next. This World War II veteran was injured in the line of duty before being converted into an assassin, though he has redeemed himself and now goes by White Wolf. What's his real name? And no, we're not looking for Bucky.

Question 3

Iron Man

Quizzes like this are difficult because normally, I could make some kind of pun or comment about these characters, but I can't do it here without spoiling who's underneath the Iron Man suit...or suits. Can we just leave it at it being a genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist? That shouldn't spoil it, but at the same time, you have to know who Iron Man is if you're taking a quiz like this. Seriously, if you get this one wrong, I won't feel so good.

Question 4

The (Incredible) Hulk

The man may have had a movie titled The Incredible Hulk, but no one has called this jolly green giant by that name in the universe. There have been slight allusions with characters (usually Iron Man) calling him incredible, but you get the point. Hulk is one of the few characters in the movies to have two different actors play him, but everyone seems to be happy with his current actor. (Who shall not be named.) Anyway, who is the man who transforms into the Hulk?

Question 5

What is Thor's last name?

This one is always a great question when it's styled as "What is Thor's name?" People either automatically assume it's a trick question or yell at you about how Thor's name is Thor. Ah, but Thor has a last name that is said commonly throughout the movies if you actually pay attention! And no, it has nothing to do with him being the seductive God of Thunder. This one is really obvious even if the only Thor movie you liked was Ragnarok.

Question 6

Black Widow

Blonde Black Widow is great and I hope she sticks with this look. It's not so much about the appearance as it is the further development of her character and that, given she's been in the MCU since 2010, is important. Who doesn't enjoy Black Widow? You know, unless you were on the wrong side of one of her brutal beatdowns. Again, this one is really, really obvious, so don't disappoint us. Please, for the sake of S.H.I.E.L.D., get this right.

Question 7

Hawkeye

The final member of the main Avengers and a dangerous threat with that bow of his, it's looking more and more like Hawekeye will come back for Avengers 4. I think I've said enough recently how much I want him back because I actually enjoy Hawkeye, but I'll try not to be repetitive and just let you focus on getting this right. Once again, this will be very easy and should be a slam dunk if you're still taking this quiz.

Question 8

War Machine

Or, as they called him in Iron Man 3, the Iron Patriot. Is it bad I actually didn't mind the term Iron Patriot? The suit, on the other hand, that's another story. Feel free to Google that if you, like what seems to be many other Marvel fans, have totally and voluntarily forgotten about what happens in Iron Man 3. Remember when the movie ends with a total Deus ex Machina? I just hope you remember who War Machine really is.

Question 9

Falcon

Falcon is one of the more interesting characters we've gotten in the Marvel Cinematic Universe because he has a military background and was just a normal guy before deciding to help Captain America. War Machine has a similar background from a certain point of view, but Falcon's whole character in The Winter Soldier is that he wants to help Captain America...and we love him for that. You're able to tell us what Falcon's real name is, right? And no, it's not Captain America fanboy.

Question 10

Quicksilver

Quicksilver may not have ever been an Avenger, but he's remembered fondly enough by the group to where we'll include him here. Besides, he did die in Age of Ultron fighting the evil robot as opposed to dying by his side, so that's enough extra reason for him to be on here. Who says we don't care about members who aren't in the Avengers? By now, you should have remembered what Quicksilver's real name is, right? If not, use his speed to think faster!

Question 11

What is Scarlet Witch's first name?

Having you tell us her full name would be fairly redundant since you likely now know her brother's full name. As they share the same last name, all we're looking for now is Scarlet Witch's first name. If you saw Infinity War, you need to know this with how often her name is said and with how important she is to the story. If you don't get this right, we're not going to help you if we see Thanos about to snap.

Question 12

Who is Vision's AI based on?

This is an interesting one because, as an android, Vision does not have a real name. What we're looking for is who Vision's AI and programming - specifically, his personality and voice - are based on? It's a pre-existing character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe who had a major impact on Tony Stark's life. Did Tony implement a similar version of his own self into Vision, or did the newest Avenger take a cue from someone else? You should know this.

Question 13

Who was the original Ant-Man?

Think closely on this one because there's two Ant-Mans in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This has nothing to do with comics, television shows, or video games. We're looking for the man who was the first Ant-Man in the 1980s before hanging up his gear following the death of his wife. (Who, depending on what you believe, may not actually be dead.) Once again, this should be an easy one so long as you actually read the description, so don't get this wrong.

Question 14

Who is the current Ant-Man?

Remember when you were a kid and your parents warned you about hanging with the wrong people? That's Ant-Man's problem as he's going to be with the same jokers from the first movie in Ant-Man & The Wasp. If you like Luis, fine, but I want to see Ant-Man hanging out with Avon Barksdale - I mean, police officer Gale, who is also played by Wood Harris. Oh, and I want to see even more Stan Lee. Who is the current Ant-Man?

Question 15

The Wasp

Who else is excited for Ant-Man & The Wasp? I'll admit to wanting to see more of Wasp in this movie before I can judge how much I like her character, though I do like the idea of her starring and kicking ass alongside Ant-Man in what will likely lead up to Infinity War. I do not want to be in the room if the movie ends with the snap and the ensuing result because there are going to be tears shed.

Question 16

Star-Lord

Star-Lord is awesome, but surprisingly divisive among Marvel fans. Is that because of how he behaved in Infinity War, or is it more than that? If you're one of the people who dislikes Star-Lord, obviously feel free to let us know which it is. I've always looked at Star-Lord as a bit of a punk and a hero who is sometimes way too in over his head, but he also means well. And we like the same type of music. What's his real name?

Question 17

What is Yondu's last name?

Now, I had forgotten until recently that Yondu had a last name - or, if it's not a last name, something that should probably be hyphenated? I don't know anymore with the stuff in Guardians of the Galaxy. Let's just say there's some wacky and confusing stuff that happens in those movies, but we still like them anyway. This may be one of the tougher questions on here, but we have faith in you to get this right. Any ideas?

Question 18

Black Panther

With how successful the Black Panther movie was and with how many people love the character, this is one of those questions in which you absolutely need to get it right to save face. If you get this wrong, you might bring great shame on the entire Marvel fandom. Do you want to do that? Wakanda forever! Now, go and get this one right before Black Panther and the Wakandan army teach you the answer. We love Black Panther, by the way.

Question 19

Spider-Man

Seriously? Seriously. You cannot get this one wrong. Even before the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man was one of the franchise's most iconic heroes and he's coming off what many consider to be one of the best performances in Infinity War. It was the performance that sold me on his actor being the one to play Spider-Man, for what it's worth, and I'm notorious among my friends for being critical in that area. I won't feel so good if you get this wrong...

Question 20

Doctor Strange

Because the man's actual last name is Strange and he was a doctor before all of this - so yes, his patients would call him Dr. Strange - we're looking for his first name here. Simple, right? Well, I shouldn't assume this is going to be that easy, but at least consider me hopeful. With how vital Doctor Strange was to Infinity War, you should already have answered this and gotten correctly. There goes me assuming again. Oh yeah, I've come to bargain.

Question 21

Daredevil

Let's head over to the TV side of things for a bit, shall we? We're not going to quiz you on the names of side character in those shows, just the main superheros who have their own firm places in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - and the Marvel universe as a whole. Let's start with Daredevil, who began the Netflix trend of shows and has inspired a loyal fandom in the past few years. So, who exactly is the Devil of Hell's Kitchen?

Question 22

Luke Cage

There seem to be a good number of Marvel fans who forget that Luke Cage is not the Hero of Harlem's real name. Luke Cage is a name this bulletproof man picked up after he escaped prison. One of the following names is his actual name and one of the following options should be an obvious no, so let's see if you can get this one right. Were rooting for you to get this one right, so don't let us down. For Harlem's sake!

Question 23

Iron Fist

Iron Fist is one of the more divisive Marvel projects, though that won't stop us from including him in this quiz. And, fine, we liked parts of Iron Fist. It needed more Joy, in our eyes, and we're not only talking about the character. Anyway, this character has the powers of the Immortal Iron Fist but that is obviously not his name. Do you want to take any guesses on what his name truly is? Good luck with this one!

Question 24

The Punisher

It might be the uncool thing to express love for The Punisher given his exploits in-universe and people being concerned that he's too graphic and violent. But lemme tell you sumthin', man - oh wait, wrong character by the same actor. We love The Punisher, we love the actor, and we're beyond excited to see what happens in the show's second season. We're hoping that you know what The Punisher's real name is, so how about you take a guess and tell us?

Question 25

What is Elektra's last name?

An easy one for Marvel fans who know the comics or who kept watching Daredevil past the first season, but possibly a harder one for those who aren't caught up on the Netflix shows. And while we could have used Jessica Jones here, asking something like what is Jessica's last name would be too easy. This is a bit harder and we feel like giving you a challenge. As always, there's a one-in-four-chance you get this right, so good luck!

Question 26

Ghost Rider

No, this isn't a spoiler for any Marvel Cinematic Universe movie in the future. Ghost Rider has been in the TV show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and might be a candidate down the line for his own movie. What Marvel and Disney do after Avengers 4 and the planned sequels - Spider-Man 2 and Black Panther 2 - will be interesting. Does Ghost Rider get his own movie? Do the Netflix characters get introduced into the movies? For now, tell us who Ghost Rider is.

Question 27

What is Tony Stark's bodyguard named?

We're back to the movies and, even if you haven't seen the Iron Man movies in a few years, this one should be fairly easy. This guy starts off as Tony Stark's bodyguard and later is promoted to Head of Security because, as he ponders out loud, why would Iron Man need a bodyguard or driver? You may also remember his actor, Jon Favreau, as being the man who directed the first and second Iron Man films. Who is this?

Question 28

Who is Wakanda's princess?

You may think Tony Stark is the smartest person in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. Have you met Wakanda's princess? She is a beacon of hope and we hope that she survived Infinity War because we need her in Avengers 4. This character is so beloved that people already think that if T'Challa doesn't survive Avengers 4 or Black Panther 2, she could easily step into the role and be fine. We agree with that. Now, who is Wakanda's princess?

Question 29

Who is Tony Stark's fiancée?

No, this isn't a spoiler for Infinity War, seeing as it's implied that Tony is going to propose to her in Spider-Man: Homecoming. That also leads to one of the cringiest lines in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, where Tony asks Happy if he has the ring and Happy says he's had the ring since 2008. Oh, that's funny because the first Iron Man came out in 2008! That was such a Sony joke I'm shocked there wasn't a Papa John's reference too.

Question 30

Captain Marvel

This is potentially the hardest question on here, which is why we saved it for the end. Captain Marvel will headline the final Marvel Cinematic Universe movie before Avengers 4 comes out next spring and we're slowly learning more information about the movie,s o you should have a rough idea of what the character's name is by now. If you've made it his far and you still have a perfect score, just remember the one-in-four advice. Then again, if you've made it this far with a perfect score, you probably know this.
