Video games are a fun way to escape from the world, at least for a little while. They can take people away to far away lands of all kinds, from fantasy kingdoms to the deepest reaches of outer space. Since the release of home video gaming consoles really took off in the 1980s with the Nintendo Entertainment System, video games have started to become a part of the popular culture in a huge way. They have certainly evolved in great leaps from their early days of 8-bit platformers. Now, video games are not only a fun activity but a powerful storytelling tool, delivering some truly breathtaking moments and relatable characters that gamers can actually relate to and form bonds with.
The characters are what make video games so special. without someone compelling to take control of, gamers wouldn't be all that interested.
