Only A Real Disney Genius Can Score Over 60% On This Cinderella Quiz

Calling all Disney fans of the internet! For I have spent several hours of my life labouring over the perfect Cinderella trivia quiz. Why Cinderella? Why, because she is one of the greatest and most often overlooked Disney Princess of them all. I will throw down for Cinderella at anytime and am always prepared to defend her. No, her story is not telling its viewers that men/love will solve all of their problems. Nothing is more infuriating than people using edgy wit to write off classic stories.

Cinderella is a classic tale about a girl who remains true to herself no matter what life throws her way and does not let mean people change who she is as a person. It is also a story about how important it is to know when it is time to ask for help. Not every problem is something that a person can handle solo and Cinderella teaches us that it is okay to lean on the people that we love and trust to help us get through hard times and sticky situations. It’s truly the quiz that all of the Cinderella lovers of the world deserve and I hope that Cinderella will be proud of my efforts.

Question 1

What is the Cat's Name?

Every Disney villain needs an animal companion to call their own. These animals are needed to skulk around and gather information while their owners are otherwise occupied as well as doing everything in their power to prevent our hero from achieving their goals. Cinderella's step mother has chosen a companion of a feline nature to call her own and this cat can be seen slinking through the halls of Cinderella's family home. But what is his name? What name will he respond to if called?

Question 2

What Was The Slipper Made of?

It is important to note that the original fairytale was an oral legend; therefore, many details from that source became fuzzy over time. Many scholars debate whether or not Cinderella's slippers were originally made of fur or glass, due to the French version of the words sounding incredibly similar. However, when making the Disney adaptation, a material was definitively chosen for Cinderella's slippers and this material has been the official one used ever since. What material was Cinderella's famous slippers made of?

Question 3

What Are Her Stepsisters Called?

Note: for this question, we will be referring to the original Disney cartoon as the sisters often have different names between different versions of the film. In the original Disney animated film (which was released in 1950,) Cinderella was put to the test by her less than favourable stepsisters. Cinderella did everything she could to win their favour; however, they made it clear that nothing she ever did would be enough for them. What were these two unsavory characters named?

Question 4

What is Ella's Second Language?

In Disney's live action Cinderella film (which was released in 2015,) Ella's stepsisters continually request items from a certain country. When it comes time to create their dresses for the Prince's ball, the sisters wish for their dresses to be styled after a fashion movement/style originating in this country. Then, as a show of how cultured they are, they tease Ella and her perceived plainness by proclaiming that she could never understand a word of that countries language. Ella puts them in their place by speaking a complete phrase in what language?

Question 5

What is the Stepmothers Name and Title?

Everyone has a name. It is the first label that is placed upon a person at birth. The first thing that a person is called in this life is their name. Names carry power. What is her stepmother's name?

Question 6

The entire film's plot (for both the animated Disney film and its live action counterpart) is centred around this huge ball that is being held at the castle. Question 7

How Does the Spell Go?

In Disney's animated version of the classic Cinderella tale, a fairy godmother appears at the lowest point in Ella's story in order to save her from her stepmother's dehumanizing actions. Ella has been disallowed from going to the Prince's ball in order to drill the fact that she is nothing more than a servant to Lady Tremaine into her head. But the fairy godmother feels like Ella deserves a night off (and a means to escape eventually) and casts a lengthy musical spell which temporarily frees her. How does it go?

Question 8

What is Ella's Mantra?

In the live action version of Cinderella, Ella recites a certain set of words in order to prevent the ways in which she has been treated from infecting her mind and turning her heart cold. These words were once her mothers and now they are the only thing that keeps her sane. This mantra reminds Ella that there is kindness in this world, that there was once someone who truly loved her, and that she should never let Lady Tremaine's actions change who she is.

Question 9

Does The Prince Have a Name?

Note: For this question, we are referring to Disney's live-action version of Cinderella (which was released in 2015.) In the original animated version, we unfortunately never learn if the Prince was called anything other than "The Prince." But the live-action version was determined to flesh his character out with a backstory, goals, a personality, and even a name. Within this quiz, we will discuss the importance of a name so all readers will understand how truly important it was that they finally named our Prince Charming.

Question 10

Why Does No One Recognize Ella?

One of the best things about Disney's live-action remakes is the fact that they tend to clear up some issues and solve some unanswered questions that we all have carried around for decades surrounding certain elements of their original films. One question that many people have had surrounding the original animated film is how no one seemed to recognize Ella neither during the Ball nor while looking for the owner of the show Ella left behind during her quick getaway. Why did no one recognize her?

Question 11

What Song Are the Sisters Learning?

We all know that Anastasia and Drizella are....um... not the most talented women in the Disney oeuvre; however, that does not mean that they were denied the ability to perform a song in the original animated film. While practicing the art of refining their marketable skills, the two sisters perform a song together and not a single member of the household enjoys the show. Ella later sings the song to herself and her rendition is far superior. What song do the sisters fail to sing?

Question 12

Why is she Called "Cinderella?"

There is real power in a name. And there is even more power in taking someone's name away. Many servants throughout history often had their given names taken by their "masters" to show that they were no longer a person in the eyes of the world. What better way to make your servants obey your every word than to deny them their own identity? So, why did Lady Tremaine refuse to call Ella by her given name throughout the film?

Question 13

Why Did Ella Want to Go to the Ball?

When Ella receives the invitation to the ball in the mail, she is absolutely over the moon. She begs her step-mother to let her go to the ball. She does each and every increasingly ridiculous task Lady Tremaine places upon her shoulders with a smile on her face. Why did she want to go so badly?

Question 14

Who Sewed Ella's Pink Dress?

While Ella was running about, doing everything that she possibly could in order to cross each and every silly and arduous task off of her chore list, in order to secure her invitation to the ball, her mother's dress lay wait in the attic. However, when she went to her room, she saw that the dress had been finished. Who finished it?

Question 15

Who Were Ella's Friends?

Despite Lady Tremaine's best efforts, she was never able to truly isolate Ella from the rest of the world. Isolation is an easy way for someone to control another person as they can convince said person that everything that they say is the truth and there will be no one around to offer said person help nor spot when something is wrong. Though Ella was confined to the house, her kind heart gave her the ability to find and make friends anywhere. Who did she befriend?

Question 16

What Item Survived Midnight?

The fairy godmother turned everything that she had at her disposal into items that would help Ella get to the ball. Canines turned to coachmen, mice turned to horses, and the ragged remains of her mother's gown was turned into a beautiful dress fit for a ball. However, these magical items had an expiration date and only one thing made it past midnight. This reminder of the night remained in order to assure Ella that there still is kindness, love, and happiness outside of her stepmother's home and that one day, she will escape.

Question 17

Why Did They Need the Prince?

Yes, we all know that Ella fell in love with the Prince at first sight and that things were never the same once they looked into each other's eyes. But would Ella have been able to secure her true happily ever after with anyone else? Did it have to be the prince? Since Ella had no idea he was the Prince, one can assume that her intentions were pure. However, if he had not been the prince, would he had been able to rescue Ella from Lady Tremaine?

Question 18

Who Brought Ella the Glass Slipper?

We all know that Ella had a secondary slipper hiding in her pocket- which was lucky as the shoe which Ella left behind at the ball was smashed shortly after arrival. However, who was the one who brought the slipper to Lady Tremaine's home in the first place? Which member of the royal court/family was tasked with the duty of bringing the shoe to each and every lady in the Kingdom in order to find a suitable bride for the Prince?

Question 19

Where Was Ella Locked?

After realizing that Ella was the mysterious blonde who stole the Prince away at the royal ball, Lady Tremaine knew that something had to be done. She wanted to secure advantageous marriages for her daughters and Ella was standing in the way of that goal. So, in order to get Ella out of the picture, Lady Tremaine locked the poor girl away. But what room was meant to hold Ella until the Prince choose one of her step-sisters to be his default bride?

Question 20

What was Ella's Deadline?

All good things must come to an end and that is true, even in fairy tales. And the same is true of Ella's magical night on the town. When the fairy god-mother rescues her from a night of crying in the backyard and cleaning up the shredded remains of her mother's dress, it is done under a time limit. I mean, Ella could have stayed out later but she would have had to explain why her dress, coach, and horses suddenly disappeared.

Question 21

Does Ella Get Revenge?

Let's be honest, people love a good revenge fantasy. And few people deserve to live their wildest revenge orientated dreams out like Ella. She was subjected to literal years of absolute nonsense at the hand of her step-family and those ladies need to pay for everything they did to her. But Ella does not seem like the kind of girl who would come after those who wronged her. Does Ella go forth and seek revenge on those who hurt her or does she move on?

Question 22

Why Do They Call Her Cinderella?

We all know that Cinderella is not Ella's given name. And we know the psychological reasons why Ella is referred to as anything but her name (as previously addressed within this quiz.) However, where did the name "Cinderella" came from itself? Was there a specific reason why her step-family attached themselves to this name specifically? Was there an actual reason? Did they simply just like the name? Where did the name "Cinderella" actually come from within the context of the story?

Question 23

Name the Song Sung in the Attic

In the live action version of the classic story (which Disney released in the year 2015, and I saw in theatres multiple times,) very few songs are sung. The live-action film was decidedly not a musical, save for one special song. This song appears several times throughout the film and connects Ella with her late mother during hard moments in her story. She notably sings this song for hours on end after being locked up in the attic. Name that song.

Question 24

What Was The Carriage Originally?

When the fairy-god mother came onto the scene, she knew that she had some work to do. For, there was absolutely no way that she could be sent to a ball looking the way that she did when the fairy-godmother first arrived. But there was not a lot to work with and so, the fairy godmother had to make do with what she had at her disposal. Ella needed a way to get to the ball. What item did the fairy godmother turn into a carriage for Ella?

Question 25

What is Ella's True Hair/Dress Colour?

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Ella's colouring has changed since the original film was released. The Ella we know and love has light blonde hair and a lovely brilliantly blue gown. However, it was not always that way. In the original animated film released in 1950 under Walt Disney, her hair and gown were a different colour. However, the lighting needed to create the night scenes at the ball made her hair and gown look blonde and blue. This colouring stuck and Disney simply went with it. But what colours were originally used?

Question 26

Did Ella Know She Had Met the Prince?

It is hard not to know what the people who are in charge of your country look like. Especially if you live in a monarchy. Their faces are literally everywhere. However, Ella has not left her home since she was a small child and had no way of knowing the Prince from Adam. When she yearned to go to the ball, she simply craved acceptance and a night off. But did she know the Prince beforehand? Had she seen a glimpse of his face before heading to the ball?

Question 27

What Happened to the Pink Dress?

When Ella first heard about the ball, she dug up her mother's old and prized pink dress. She planned on fixing it up and wearing it to the Prince's ball. However, her chore list ran a little bit too long (intentionally so) and she was not able to fix it up in time. Luckily, the mice who call themselves her friends fixed it up for her. Sadly, despite their effort, she was unable to wear it to the ball. Why was this?

Question 28

Did Walt Disney Like Cinderella?

Every single time that a new Disney film is released, everyone always asks what would Walt Disney himself think about it. Would he like it? Does it uphold the values that he wanted to build his company upon? Would he scoff and turn up his nose? Is he rolling in his grave? Or would he absolutely love each and every single second/frame/still from that film? Though we will never know his opinion on the modern films, he did voice his opinion on Cinderella during his life.

Question 29

What Song Plays During The Ball Dance?

It is not a true Disney Princess movie without some beautiful song being shared between the Princess and her prospective love interest. Those beautifully building love songs are a cornerstone of these films that shaped who we grew up to be (and gave us incredibly unrealistically high expectations for our future relationships.) Each and every one of those moments has a unique song which plays throughout the scene. Which classic song plays during Ella and the Prince's first dance in the original animated film?

Question 30

What Are Ella's First Lines?

Disney's animated version of Cinderella begins with a classic storybook style narration; which, I for one, believe should make a come back. I miss those lovely classic introduction scenes. Eventually, Ella does wake and begins to engage in a rather one-sided conversation with her little bird friends. What is the first thing she says?

Question 31

Which Mouse is In The Trap?

Ella's kindness is displayed/revealed very early in the film when her little mice friends went to her for help because a new little mousey friend found himself stuck in one of the many humane mouse traps set up all over the house. This mouse is accepted into the established mouse group which Ella clothes, takes care of, and looks after. Shortly after being freed, the mouse receives a name and a shirt. What name is given to this little mouse friend?

Question 32

What One Thing Does Lucifer Dislike?

I love cats. I am one of the biggest cat lovers that I know. So I mean it when I say that Lucifer (Lady Tremaine's cat) was aptly named because that feline is just awful. I mean, awful. This cat does nothing besides take pleasure in Ella's misery and make life hard for her little mice friends. Nothing brought Lucifer more joy than hearing the endless list of chores Lady Tremaine prepared to keep Ella from the ball... until she told Ella to do the one thing he cannot stand.

Question 33

What is a Dream?

Ella has very few joys in her life, thanks to Lady Tremaine. That questionable woman did everything within her power to make sure that Ella had absolutely nothing but the cinders on her face at the end of the day. She failed incredibly at that task in the end, but she sure did try. But she cannot take away Ella's dreams and thus, dreams quickly became her favourite thing. But what is it about dreams that Ella loves so much? What are they to her?

Question 34

Is Their Love True?

Regardless of your personal opinions on love and whether or not true love exists, this question addresses whether or not this sort of love exists between Ella and Kit. For argument's sake, let's agree that true love exists. Is the love between these two characters true? Are there hidden motivations behind their actions? Does Kit want something out of Ella besides a lifelong loving companion? Does Ella want something out of Kit besides love and acceptance? Is their love true?

Question 35

What is the Films' Moral?

Okay, so this topic has sparked a many a debate online in the past few years and I am here to clear it up. There is no room for edgy people who want to write childhood classics off as lesser due to lazy morals they scraped together by sorely misinterpreting the films plot and main theme. I am here to discuss the true moral of this children's film based on kindness, courage, and the problems that are too big for us to solve alone.
