Pretty Little Liars is a series that aired on Freeform beginning in 2010. It started off with the girls beginning to be tormented by an anonymous person, that evolved into threats, and attacks. The show centralizes around four main characters, Hanna, Emily, Spencer, and Aria. The girls are all living in Rosewood, attending Rosewood High School. They all follow the "It" girl of the town, Alison. She basically bullies each of the girls into doing whatever she wants. They all follow, except Spencer, who is the tougher one, that can actually stand up to Alison.
After Alison goes missing, things go a little wacky. She disappears, and a year later her body is found and she is believed to be dead. After a body is found, they believe that Alison is actually dead. When the anonymous texts start to come into the four main girls, they believe that she is still alive. This is mainly because A knows things that only Alison would know! As the show goes on, the girls become more skeptical and suspicious that Ali is still alive. The series follows through seven seasons, as the girls continue to deal with being harassed by different variations of A.
Who is the character tormenting the girls?
During the entire series of Pretty Little Liars, the girls are being constantly tormented by an anonymous person. They send texts, letters, calls, anything to freak the girls out. The first text message goes out during the first episode, and the girls are forced to navigate their way around this person's motives. They spend the entire show attempting to figure out who this anonymous character is. As the show moves along, the discover there isn't just one, but a few people working against them.
Which character is this?
This main character is portrayed by Lucy Hale. She was the artsy, alternative girl, that was a part of the clique before Alison's disappearance. She had always been creative and artistic, but occasionally felt like an outcast. She dealt with her father having an affair with a college student, while maintaining her relationships with her mother. While in school, she meets her English teacher, Ezra. The two meet up in a bar, and hook-up. This begins an on and off relationship during the series.
Which character is this?
She is another one of the main characters. She is played by Troian Bellisario. She's the most intelligent, and sophisticated, of all of the girls. Her family's career paths include highly intelligent work, including law. She is overachieving, wealthy, and smart. Before the anonymous harassment began, she participated in several extracurricular including internships, charity work, the field hockey team, and after-school clubs. While the other girls were bullied by Alison, she was confident, and would stand up to her when no one else would.
Which character is this?
This main liar is played by Ashley Benson. Her character was overweight, before Alison disappeared. She's the sweetest of the group, but that did not stop Alison from making fun of her, for being overweight. When Ali went missing, she became friends with Mona. The two got along well, and she was instantly popular. She also lost the weight over the summer. She is extremely rebellious and impulsive, but she has a strong instinct that helps the girls figure out clues about their harasser.
Which main character is this?
Played by Shay Mitchell, this liar is the jock of the group. She was the star of the Rosewood swim team, before the stress of A led to her body not being strong enough to swim. This leads to her losing her college career. She is considered to be the weakest link by A, but cares so much about her friends, that she would do absolutely anything to keep them all safe. She's had is tough during the show, and even prior to, dealing with a crush on her best friend Alison.

It opens each one of the160 episodes that has aired on Freeform. The lyrics play well into the characteristics of the show, which deal with a hefty amount of secrets. Pretty Little Liars, a mystery, crime, and teen drama series, ran for 7 seasons, and the finale aired in June of 2017.
What do the girls text each other to signal for help?
The girls are constantly struggling with being harassed, stalked, and even attacked by A. The four of them have no idea who is coming after their lives, but they know that they need to stick together. While they cannot spend every second with each other, or with someone that can keep them safe, they develop a code to text one another, to let them know they're in danger. This code is discreet enough that they could keep all of the secrets to themselves.
Whose funeral was the first to take place on the show?
During the pilot episode, the four girls attend this person's funeral, right after the school year begins. The funeral is held in Rosewood's local church, where the DiLaurentis family greets the girls. While at the service, the girls all share the fact that they have each received a text message from A. After the service is complete, the liars each get another text to their phones from A, that says that A is still around, and that whoever they are, they know everything.
Which liar was dating their English teacher?
This liar Ezra, a Hollis College graduate sitting at their local bar. She talks to him about traveling to Europe, which she did after Alison disappeared. They also talk about music, literature, and Iceland. Ezra tells her that he is an English teacher, but not where. On the first day, she walks into his classroom and is shocked to see the man she made out with at a bar, is her teacher. The two talk about it, and aren't sure how to move forward, but there are feelings between them.
Who was the first A?
The original "A" began to torture Alison, before she disappeared. She would send her gifts, threats, and even go as far to attack her. She continued to attack Alison, and her mother, leading her to believe it was Spencer. After Ali disappeared, A did too. She came back after the body was found, sending the girls texts and messages about things that only Alison would know, and going as far as to mess with their parents. Spencer is the first person to meet A, for who she really is.
Who is Spencer’s half brother?
Spencer has no idea about her half brother during season one. When he returns to Rosewood during season two, she begins to suspect something strange is going on between him, and her family. She puts the puzzle together, and figures out that her father, is also the father to this other character. When she discovers this, she begins to build a relationship between them. They start to trust each other, as they work together to find out what really happened to Alison.
What mental hospital did both Mona and Spencer stay at?
Mona, was placed into this hospital for psychological and emotional treatment for a few months. This was after Spencer's confrontation, that led to the two fighting, after Spencer discovered that Mona was actually A. She was admitted a second time after claiming to have killed Detective Darren Wilden, who was investigating Alison's murder. Spencer, was also a patient in this facility. She was put in for three days, a 72 hour evaluation in November of 2011, after snapping due to the stress of everything going on.
Which character is blind?
The event leading to this character going blind takes place before Alison disappears. The girls are hanging out, and Alison claims she saw Toby peeping through the window, which was actually a lie. Aria thinks they should tell someone, but Alison comes up with a better idea. She wants to go to his house, to set off a stink bomb in his garage. This stink bomb ends up being a firecracker, leading to an explosion and fire. Someone in the garage, ends up blind after the explosion.
Whose pseudonym is Vivian Darkbloom?
This character is the alter ego of one of the main characters. She would dress as Vivian, solely to spy on A. Charlotte DiLaurentis, also used this name, to escape from the police after committing a murder. We first meet Vivian when Caleb hacked into a video, to see this girl's photo license. We continue to see her in clues, after staying in the Lost Woods Resort, checking into Radley, and even shopping in Brookhaven, all to spy on A.
Who is redcoat?
This character was previously anonymous, and also the person that carried on the A game after Mona was finished. We find out who she is in the episode, Game Over, Charles. I
Who killed detective Wilden?
Detective Darren Wilden was the head detective working on Alison's missing person case, and then her murder investigation. He was completely corrupt, doing things from threatening the girls, threatening Hanna's mother. He had some connection to Alison, but no one knew what it was. We found out later that him and her hooked up, leading to her pregnancy scare. He also had previously arrested Hanna for shoplifting, before investigating Alison's case. He was shot by two gunshot wounds after the lodge fire.
How do we find out that Alison is still alive?
Despite there being an entire funeral for Alison during the pilot episode, the four liars have suspicions that Alison is still alive. These are mostly through Hanna and Emily, while Spencer and Aria try to be more logical. They believe that Alison is A, because A knows things that no one but Ali would actually know. Alison comes to the girls in one episode, after A sets them up at the Thornhill Lodge, attempting to murder all four of them.
How did Aria kill Shana?
Shana was Emily's associated, and also her old teammate on the swim team at Rosewood High School. The girls discovered that she was helping Alison. After Shana learned that how terrible Alison actually was to the people living in Rosewood, she teamed up with the A team. After the girls were kidnapped and put into the dollhouse, Shana was threatening to kill each of them. In an attempt to save them, Aria snuck up on her to finish her off.
Who stabbed Nate?
Lyndon James, also known as Nate, was one of the girls' stalkers. He appeared in the series during season three. He was mentally ill, and moved to Rosewood after Maya was murdered, using the alias Nate. It is revealed that he was the stalker from True North, that Maya was afraid of. She also dated him for a short period of time. He was the person responsible for her death. After meeting with one of the liar's at the lighthouse, he tries to kill her but is thwarted.
Which girl got pregnant during season seven?
One of the girls reveals that she is pregnant during the mid-season finale. We don't know fully who the father is, or if she got pregnant via traditional methods. She was married to Archer Dunhill, who is deceased. He only married her to plan for revenge for Charlotte's murder, whom he was in love with. During the finale, we find out who the actual biological parents are. The eggs, have come from Emily, which were stolen by A.D., and the father is Wren.
Which is not a couple nickname from the series?
Each of the four main characters buzzes through several relationships, before finding the right person that they end up being with. The couples were all given ship names by fans who watched the series. Spencer started dating Toby, which was strange at the start before the girls began to trust him, but he was always there for her. Hanna dated Caleb, who was her first real love. Aria dated Ezra, her high school English teacher. Emily dated Paige, a swim teammate.
Who is Spencer's real mother?
Spencer was born at Radley Sanatorium in 1994. Her mother, was a patient there while she was pregnant. The mother's sister revealed that she was pregnant via Peter Hastings. Spencer was adopted by someone else, to ensure she wasn't forgotten. Spencer wasn't told that she was adopted. They didn't know, but Spencer actually had a twin, Alex, who was given away to an English family. Alex was later abandoned, and lived a much tougher life than Spencer had to live.
Who wrote the series of novels that the TV show is based off of?
The novel series consists of sixteen books, that were initially released in 2006. The series has the same name, Pretty Little Liars, and follows the lives of the four girls we see in the television show. The series debuted in 2010, and was loosely based on the novels that were written by this author. These novels have appeared on the New York Times Best Seller list. The books are divided into four arcs, which introduce and reveal each of the A characters.
Who is revealed to be Uber A?
Five years after Charlotte was murdered, and Big A was done tormenting the girls, Uber A begins to take over. The new stalker isn't using the A pseudonym, but instead is using emojis as a signature. After kidnapping Hanna, because they thought she murdered Charlotte, they began to sign messages off with A.D. They revealed who this character was in the episode, Til Death Do Us Part. Uber A has many disguises: a gardener, a maid, and a surgeon, including other things.
Who teams up with the A team?
This liar teams up with A to get ahead for herself. She accepts an invitation extended by A.D., to meet in the back of a limo. Here, she meets Sydney, who wasn't actually A.D. Sidney offered her a spot on the A.D. team, and we don't see this liar actually accept the offer. Although, she doesn't tell any of her friends what had happened. It's believed that she is trying to protect her relationship, by betraying all of her friends.
