Not Even Diehard Fans Can Match These Harry Potter Characters To Their House

Harry Potter is one of the most influential cultural icons to come out of the 90s. That might not exactly be a fact, but it's probably a pretty common opinion, since according to Wikipedia, the eight Harry Potter books come together to make the best-selling book series in history. The series spans over a total of eight books that were turned into nine films, and spawned a myriad of spin-offs, including the currently popular Fantastical Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The majority of students that Harry Potter encounters in the Wizarding World are associated in one way or another with Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, either as students, professors, administrators, or alumni.

Each student who attends Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry is placed into one of the four houses by the Sorting Hat, which determines where they sleep, which teacher is their Head of House, which Quidditch team they'll end up playing for should they take an interest in sports, and, more often than not, who their social circle will consist of.

The houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each one is associated with a set of both positive and negative traits. Some students even fall in-between the two and can cause the Sorting Hat to have to truly consider their deepest attributes to accurately place them into the right environment. It can be pretty tricky to determine which house a person is from simply from knowing things about them, since the Sorting Hat can see things that Muggles and even other wizarding folk generally can't.

Honestly, remembering the house can be even harder since there are hundreds of characters divided up between them. Only a true Potterhead would have even the slightest chance of doing so.
