Grey's Anatomy has been around for a very long time, it is one of the longest running serious of its kind. One of the keys to its success is the relatable and lovable doctors that are on the show. They may just be characters but they come across as real people who are dealing with real things. This makes it a lot easier to connect with them because they feel like friends not television show characters. Over the course of the series there have been a ton of doctors that have made an appearance at the hospital. Some of the doctors have stuck around for a while whereas others were only there for a few episodes.
No matter how long they were there for they all had a profound impact on the show and especially on the other characters. This was either for better or for worse but one thing is for sure, every character was able to grow and develop as a result of those that they encountered and either became friends or enemies with. Over time he met the woman of his dreams, built their dream home and grew an wonderful family. Sadly he passed away but when he did go he was surrounded by his loving wife.

This doctor was very sure of herself and she was one of the most confident doctors that has ever walked the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. This doctor was a bit confused as to what she wanted at first but eventually she grew into herself and discovered that what she wanted was staring her right in the face the whole time. She loves her job and was literally made to perform orthopedic surgery. She left Seattle to pursue other professional and personal opportunities in New York. Her leaving the hospital was one of the most emotional moments on the show.

This doctor is actually the younger sister of one of the original cast on the show. She had a bit of a rough past and struggled with her own demons, however when she gets to the hospital she genuinely wants to do good and hopes to further her job. She has some ups and downs but at the end of the day she maintains her sobriety through some pretty crazy things. When her brother passes away she steps up and helps his wife raise their three children. She moves in with her and basically gives up a lot of her freedom to help out.

She is basically a genius and has accomplished things in half the time then the rest of her colleagues. This makes her a bit hard to approach at first because everyone is weary of her but eventually she warms up to the rest of the staff at Grey Sloan. The other doctors learn that she is actually a great person who is always willing to help anyone that she can. She also ends up being the long lost sister of Meredith Grey.

This doctor is a war veteran that performed surgery in the field. When he first arrived at the hospital he was experiencing severe PTSD. He had a hard time adjusting to his new environment but with the help of Dr. Yang he is able to overcome it. He becomes Chief of Surgery for a while but eventually having to call all of the shots became too much for him to bear so he decided to go back to Trauma. He has had a couple of tumultuous relationships along the way but seems to finally be content with his life.

When she goes through some personal tragedy and a failed marriage she begins to lose hope in all of the things she once believed in. Eventually she gets back on track and leaves the hospital to help others who she was otherwise not able to reach. What is her name?

When he first arrives at the hospital he is unsure of what specialty he is interested in but with the help of Mark Sloan he learns that plastics is where he should be. He loves that he is able to make others feel better about himself and works to remove the stereotypes that come along with plastic surgery. What is the name of this complex but cool doctor?

This doctor is basically one of the most determined and headstrong doctors that have ever graced the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. When she first arrives at the hospital she is an intern who is ready to get her hands on some of the most bizarre and interesting cases. She has to step on some toes but eventually she becomes one of the top interns. Although she claims to not really care about any of her other intern friends she becomes pretty close to some of them, especially Meredith Grey. This doctor and Meredith are there for each other through everything.

He is even described as a bit mean because of his treatment of those below him. She changed her appearance and name so that she could live a normal life without fear of him finding her.

He is particularly good with kids as he is able to get down on their level and understand them. When one of her interns failed or got in trouble she took it very personal which made her a great teacher. She was sorry for what had happened in the past but he was not very interested in making amends with her. Eventually he agreed to try to make things work but they finally came to the conclusion that they had grown apart. She decided to stay in Seattle and became a surgeon at the hospital with everyone else. At first it was a bit awkward but eventually everyone started to get along and become friends with her.

This is one doctor who loved her job, she was a pediatric surgeon when the show first started. She rolled around on sneakers with wheels in them to brighten the little kids day. She loved to interact with the children but she never imagined the day that she would have a family of her own. When she met her wife everything changed and eventually they had a daughter. After doing some research she learned of a new specialty, fetal surgery. She had to work extra hard to switch specialities but eventually she became one of the only fetal surgeons in her area.

She was not used to the way that the hospital was run and had a hard time melding in with everyone. She didn't agree with some of the things that they did as they often bent the rules. However she did become close to Callie and she helped her learn things about herself that she never realized before. This doctor left the hospital pretty soon after she arrived because she couldn't handle the way the doctors worked.

This is yet another doctor who came to the hospital to take over the role of Head of Cardio. She was Owen's best friend from the army but she did not carry the same burden as him. Instead she helped him overcome some of his struggles and eventually became a confidant for both himself as well as his wife. Despite being Owen's wife's mentor and close friend she had feelings for him that either of them knew existed. She eventually left the hospital when things got too rough after losing her husband. He decided to go back to school to become a surgeon and in the beginning he loved it. He loved the adrenaline rush and this often led him to do things his own way. Over time he started to realize that maybe surgery was not what he wanted to be so he decided to have yet another job change and become a firefighter. Once he became a firefighter he found his true calling as he loved being in the field helping people.

Owen was not happy with the way that he treated his sister while they were dating. Eventually they are able to mend their relationship and become somewhat close. This doctor is the first person that Meredith dates after her husband passes away but when Owen's sister is found alive after all of those years the two reconnect. This leaves Meredith out in the dust.

She was struggling with her own personal problems which is why she was not able to fully be there for her daughter. Eventually she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease which she tried to have Meredith keep from the rest of the hospital staff. This was rough in the beginning but eventually Richard found out what was going on. He started visiting her in her nursing home which helped her a bit.

When Yang decided that it was time to leave the hospital to accept a position in Switzerland he was distraught. He felt that he would learn the most from her and also had some romantic feelings towards her. So he decided that it would be the smartest thing for him to go with her. She was hesitant at first but eventually agreed to bring him along.

As a result, Richard told her that she was not cut out to be a surgeon and asked her to leave the program. Although she was sad at first she used this pain to push forward and joined another surgical program. This doctor is one of the original interns. She came from a family who didn't have much besides the clothes on their back so she had to work all through medical school to pay her bills. She was not embarrassed of what she did because it kept her from falling deep into debt but the other doctors had fun poking fun at her for it. Eventually she grew into herself and learned how to stand up for what she had to do. She became a great surgeon who was wonderful with her patients but left the hospital when her marriage to Alex fell apart.

She was one of the doctors on call at the hospital that Derek was brought to after his accident. Although she did not agree with the treatment plan they set in place she didn't have very much say. He was very proud to be a surgeon, so proud in fact that he told the intruder exactly who he was when he was questioned. This ultimately costed him his life, Bailey tried her best to get him some help but she was unable to get him out of the hospital in time. This haunted her for a long time and she even had to take some time off of work.

Despite working with children he was a bit of a miserable man who talked down to most of his colleagues. He formed a bond with April Kepner after he saw how good she was with the patients. The two became close but after she turned down his romantic advancements he got mad and treated her worse then everyone else. He didn't last very long as Head of Ped's because Arizona came back and returned to her position.

She is a fetal surgeon and was Arizona's mentor when she first decided to switch specialties. There was only one stipulation, she had a brain tumor so she had to teach Arizona years worth of curriculum in just a couple of months. They worked tirelessly to make sure that Arizona had all of the knowledge and tools she need in order to succeed in this field. Amelia was able to successfully remove the brain tumor but sadly this doctor was left blind as a result.

She was best friends with April Kepner and when she got fired she was very upset. Sadly she did not make it on the show for very long because her life was taken when a patient's distraught husband attacked the hospital. She was one of the first people that he came in contact with and was very polite, not knowing why he was there. She is mentioned a few times after that.

He is a bit confused as to what he wants in life, and who he wants, because he didn't really have much of a social life growing up. After meeting some of the doctors at the hospital he is able to better understand who he is and what he wants. Although he is scared to go for what he wants at first eventually he takes the leap.
