No One Can Name All These Girly Movies From Just One Screenshot

Calling all Rom-Com fans! This is the time for thee to shine! We have spent far too long being teased and shunned for our genre of choice. Just because something is typically enjoyed by female audiences does not make it lesser by any means. No longer will we have to pretend that our favourite genre is something boring like action in order to get people to think that we are interesting or unique. No longer will we pretend that we are “not like the other girls” and that we “cannot stand that girly nonsense.”

We will stand tall with our shoulders high and pride coursing through our veins. We will proclaim our love from the rooftops. We will declare that the romantic comedy/drama genres contain some of the greatest films of all time and that writing off an entire genre based on preconceived notions of its target demographic is tired, boring, and lame as all heck. We will declare our love for this varied, slightly cliched (but in the best way,) and warm genre that is the film equivalent of receiving a comforting hug from a loved one. So I challenge the rom-com lovers and film buffs of the internet to put their knowledge to the best and to see if they can identify these 35 classic romantic comedies from a single screenshot.

After all, successful isn't a personality type. It's something that we can all achieve regardless of the size of our dogs or how much pink we like to wear.

When someone is used to relying on one person to do everything and anything, it can be incredibly jarring when that one person is no longer there to pick up the slack. But make sure that all of the pressure is not being placed on that one person's shoulders alone because if they suddenly find themselves struggling with something way beyond their maturity level, they won't be around to shoulder everyone's duties. But one must always remember that good friends do not attempt to stand in the way of positive changes that their friends are attempting to make.

No one knows anyone like someone knows themselves and nothing that anyone does is the business of anyone not directly involved. Sometimes it's best to just keep one's mouth shut concerning the details of someone else's life.

Question 18

Name That Movie

This instant classic was a hit from the start and every single person that saw it in the theatre knew that they were seeing something special. Except for me, as I was removed from the theatre ten minutes into the film by my parent (who had greatly misjudged the kid-friendliness of the film that they had taken me to see.) Featuring scenes of questionable parenting, frenemies, taco bell invites, and a christmas performance that very few schools would have allowed to be performed, this movie quite literally has it all.

Question 19

Name That Movie

Not everyone in this world is lucky enough to be born into a family that respects, understands, or even loves them. And when they realize that they will never be good enough for the people that are supposed to love them unconditionally, it is perfectly fine to walk away and never look back. It may be hard and it may be intimidating but there is no greater relief than removing negative and ungrateful people from one's life. If Sam can do it, then each and every single person taking this quiz can do it too.

Question 20

Name That Movie

Sometimes sequels are unnecessary cash grabs. And sometimes, they are so wonderful in their own way that they completely surpass the original film entirely. That is the case with this film. A deadline to love, Chris Pine, fantastic outfits put together in the greatest closer of all time, ice cream, a song sung by Julie Andrews, and a sassy best friend who always says exactly what is needed to be said at any given moment, no matter who is listening. I mean, what more could someone want out of a movie?

Question 21

Name That Movie

If there is one thing that we all must learn at one point or another it is to never judge a book by its cover... or a girl by her knowledge of Aztec societies. This underrated movie was written off by many, and wrongly so, but very few movies show the negative side of makeovers and how the underdog can turn into a monster if given the chance. Everyone deserves to feel on top at least once, but they should use their newfound power to help other girls on top rather than kick them down in the same way that girls in their position used to kick them.

Question 22

Name That Movie

Many prequels can be written off as unnecessary or silly attempts at garnering more cash from the audience (and most of the time it is true,) but this is not the case. This film stands on its own to legs without even needing to be compared to the original film. From its cast to the costuming and the setting to the musical numbers, this prequel is an absolute classic in its own right and though some fans wrote it off at first, nearly everyone who saw it was won over within the first five minutes of its runtime.

Question 23

Name This Movie

This film will make anyone who watches it laugh until their sides ache, cry until their face goes numb, and scream at the screen in frustration. Communication is the most important thing in a relationship and sometimes lack of communication can not only end a relationship, but it can prevent one from even starting. These two seem as though they are determined to do everything in their power to drive the other away and both are far too chicken to ever simply say how they are feeling. Use this film as a guide on what not to do in future relationships.

Question 24

Name This Movie

Being so sure of oneself that the mere concept that one could be wrong about something is abhorrent is not healthy. Sure, confidence is a good trait to have. However, when that confidence clouds up one's judgement and forces them to view the rest of the world with a cynical or conceited bias then it can verge into questionable territory. Keep one's beliefs held tightly to one's heart but not so tightly as to prevent evidence from shifting them over time. This period drama proves that there is nothing more important in this life than giving people the benefit of the doubt.

Question 25

Name This Movie

Sometimes people have their entire personality written on their face for the world to see. One can simply look them in the eyes and know everything there is to know about them. While other's have a mask with the same words written on them in order to keep their true selves private. This classic Shakespearean adaptation reminds audiences to never write someone off until they've had a chance to get a good look behind the mask that they carry around. For they may find that that person is an entirely different person than they have lead on.

Question 26

Name This Movie

True love may just exist in the movies but that doesn't mean that the rest of us can't enjoy it from the comfort of our own living rooms. There is just something so magical about watching two actors fall in love thanks to a well written script and masterful camera work. Sometimes their love feels so real that it makes one want to recreate every moment of the film in order to get something close to it in one's own life. But in the case of this classic, some artistic liberties should be taken.

Question 27

Name This Movie

Sometimes the wheel of fortune does not turn the way in which we want it to. Sometimes life feels like an utter series of unfortunate events to which there is no end. And sometimes, a lot of those problems are actually our own faults and we could easily prevent them with a fair degree of caution and foresight. And then there are the other people. The people who lady luck has blessed and who walk through life in a way that makes the rest of us seriously suspect that they won a bet against the fates.

Question 28

Name This Movie

Though I disagree with the quote in which this entire movie is centred around, there is still something so romantic, nostalgic, and lovely about it. The mere concept that men and women cannot be friends without romantic issues getting in the way is absolutely absurd. Platonic relationships between all genders are easily achievable and encouraged. The idea that one's own romantic preference would render a friendship with someone of that preferred gender impossible is just simply untrue. Everyone can be friends with anyone, regardless of who one is attracted to. End of story.

Question 29

Name This Movie

One thing that I absolutely adore about this movie is the fact that no one has to change anything about who they are as a person in order to achieve the happy ending that they deserve. No one needs to change themselves in order to achieve their dreams, secure a relationship, or land a major spot on a prime-time television show. Nothing is lost, no styles are changed, and no one hides who they truly are. The only thing that is changed by the end of this film is society.

Question 30

Name This Movie

This character was right when she said that middle school is filled with awkward and embarrassing moments. We all want that magical moment where we finally feel like we are no longer that awkward kid and that we are someone worth noticing (I am 23 and it still has not happened for me but I am hopeful.) We all want to feel special and like someone sees us for who we really are. And sometimes we want that so badly that we accept less than we deserve from someone who does not have our best interests at heart.

Question 31

Name This Movie

Sometimes true love is only a click away. In modern times, what with all the apps and sites that are commonly used to bring people together, online dating is a common place thing. But that was not always the way things were. In the early days of the internet, the idea of meeting someone online was absolutely unheard of. And the idea of talking to someone one had never meet through the internet and building a relationship sounded like the plot of a Stephen King novel to most people. I'd like to think that this movie helped break that stigma.

Question 32

Name This Movie

The next number on this list has been one of my favourite films since I was nothing but a wee babe. From the plot itself to the scathingly biting dialogue, every single aspect of this film is an absolute delight. There is just something so special about the girl power films of the late nineties/early 2000's. Something that makes one feel powerful, brave, and excited to be a girl after viewing. This movie sparked an interest in soccer for me and I continue to play the sport to this day.

Question 33

Name This Movie

Something that I will never understand is how those pants managed to fit each and every girl in that group. I cannot even find two pairs of jeans that fit me (even if they are the same size and style from the same store) and yet these pants can fit four girls of completely different heights, frames, and body shapes? I understand that they were magical and all that; however, every single pair of womens' jeans disobey the logic of physics so why would they be expected to follow magical laws as well?

Question 34

Name This Movie

Let's be honest, there are three things that can make a romantic comedy an instant classic. The first being the inclusion of Amanda Bynes. Her quirky nature, perfect comedic timing, and affinity for slapstick makes her an asset in each and every film that she appears in. The second is to make it reference the defiance of gender expectations in some way. And the third is for it to be based around some form of classic literature (especially the works of Austen, Bronte, or Shakespeare.) This movie is the perfect result of combining all three elements.

Question 35

Name This Movie

Though I was not a fan of their appearance on Riverdale, the 2001 film that followed their journey to the top was, in my opinion, one of the greatest films of all time. Unfortunately very few people agreed with me as the films use of product placement as a tool of satire to represent the consumerist and capitalistic society that the pop culture industry has forced its young stars to be the face of and sell to their young fans went over many a head and the film was written off entirely. Luckily it became a cult classic with an utterly devoted fan base.
