Superheroes are the epitome of wish fulfillment. Taking average characters and putting them in situations where they can make a difference is everything we desire to be. Because of the larger-than-life characters and the crazy scenarios we find them in, comic books have been a popular medium for decades. Due to pop culture picking up on superheroes in the wake of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, these characters are at an all-time high in terms of popularity.

As a result, we see numerous superheroes on screen each year, and now that the bigger names have already had their time in the spotlight, many of the lesser-known characters are getting their time to shine. As audience members, it's incredibly easy to get lost in these connected worlds and know all of the superheroes that populate them.

Steve Rogers always wanted to serve his country and was willing to die for it, but his weak stature and many illnesses prevented him from being enlisted in the military. That changed when he was drafted for the super soldier program, in which he was injected with a serum that turned him into America's greatest warrior. Becoming a symbol of hope for the United States during World War II, he ended up giving his life for his country by freezing himself in a block of ice and waking up to a modern era.

Being the king of the underwater nation, he was given a powerful trident that was so strong it could easily slice through Superman's skin. While most think that he is only useful in water, Arthur has a lot of power on solid ground as well. He is a master of hand-to-hand combat, making him a deadly fighter.

She wound up becoming a voluntary of the Avengers and hoped to do a lot more good in the world alongside Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
