Correctly Match These Pokémon To Their Type To Become A True Pokémon Master

Most of us remember Pokémon. The cartoon filled our television screens often during childhood, and many of us also enjoyed playing on the Gameboy. The games enjoyed huge success and entertained so many of us for hours, progressing from the Gameboy systems to the DS – and now even to smartphones, with Pokémon Go keeping those of us who love nostalgia entertained! For a kids’ game, it was pretty tactical, though – it wasn’t just about button-mashing to win a fight, but often a carefully crafted game of tactics. Got a higher level Pokémon than your opponent? Great, but you might still not win if that other trainer has a type advantage.

So the question is, who knows their types? Who can still remember them? If we were to show a picture of a Pokemon, who could guess the type just by looking? This might sound easy, but some of them actually get pretty hard – it’s easy to look at a blue Pokémon and think ‘water’, but that might not always be the case! So take this quiz and let's see who is already a Pokémon master and who is still making their way through the journey to the league!

Question 1

What type of Pokémon is Arbok?

Arbok is a pretty scary looking Pokémon, with its design being based on a cobra – so it's easy to understand why Team Rocket were using this Pokémon to instil fear into their opponents! It was a favorite of Jessie once it evolved from Ekans. But although we all know Abrok when we see it because of its frequent appearances in the Indigo League thanks to Team Rocket, do you know which type of Pokémon this cobra actually is?

Question 2

What about another Team Rocket Favorite – Weezing?

James from Team Rocket had his own favorite Pokémon too – seems that these two favored purple above all else! He used a Koffing for ages but like Jessie's Ekans, that Koffing eventually evolved. We've all seen Weezing throughout the episodes using its favorite smokescreen attack to cause chaos during battles so that Team Rocket could make off with Pikachu in the midst of all the confusion and coughing – does the attack give you any clue as to which type this Pokémon belongs to?

Question 3

What type of Pokémon is Chansey?

Chansey was another popular Pokémon to show up frequently during the Indigo League episodes of the show because there were multiple in every city. The reason for this is that Nurse Joy employed them at the Poké Centers – they were used to treat sick Pokémon and seemed to have a genuinely loving nature, which makes a nice change from what Team Rocket were putting Pokémon up to! But do you know what type of Pokémon these caring nurses actually are?

Question 4

What type of Pokémon is the super cute Mantine?

Okay, so you might know the first one hundred and fifty-one Pokémon – if you grew up with these games and the show, these are the ones you're probably most familiar with. Some of you could probably recite them all in order in your sleep even to this day! But do you know the second generation just as well? Did you stick around when the show moved onto the Orange Islands and new Pokémon started being introduced to the fans? Do you remember what type of Pokémon Mantine is?

Question 5

What is Delibird's type?

Delibird is another gen two Pokémon, famously popping up in Pokémon Silver, Gold, and Crystal. But if you remember the ice caves, you might also remember that this little treasure was there for you to catch too.

But do you remember what kind of Pokémon this elephant-based monster actually is?

Question 7

What about the cat Pokémon, Persian?

If you thought Jessie and James' Pokémon could be intimidating, then you've clearly forgotten about Persian. But aside from beautiful, do you know what it's classified as?

Question 10

What is the adorable Lickitung's type?

Lickitung was another generation one Pokémon, although we didn't see very much of it in the anime either. What's really weird about this Pokémon is that its tongue is connected to its tail, of all things – so if you were to pull its tail, its tongue would twitch. Do you know what type it is?

But when it IS on its own, what kind of Pokémon is it?
