Slashers are a type of film that most people either love or hate. Blasted for their gratuitous violence and sexuality, slashers revel in the overuse of blood and gore. They also frequently use nudity and intimacy to showcase their actresses, who are almost always beautiful. But there is a lot of good here too. Not only are slasher films a hotbed for up-and-coming actors, they are also great for the film industry as they usually require low budgets and bring in relatively big box office numbers. There is a soul in these types of films as well. The early entries in this genre were typically commentaries on the punishment of transgressing youths, modern day folklore stories warning kids against drugs, sex and alcohol. Nowadays, the genre has such strict expectations that directors are forced to come up new and exciting ways of twisting and turning things around so impress the audience and keep things fresh.

We know that many of the films in the slasher genre have gone on to become cult classics. So many film fans rewatch these movies each year, particularly in the summer and during the Halloween season, that the general knowledge of them is quite vast. Because of that, slashers also make for excellent trivia fodder. Well, this won't be your average slasher quiz. We won't be covering the basics. We're looking for the real horror and slasher aficionados. Not only do you need to know the films, but you need to know the killer's names as well.
