Match The TV Family To The Popular Show

For as long as TV has been around family sitcoms and dramas have populated TV screens. Shows with a strong lead family have proven to be extremely popular among all ages and generations. After watching seasons and seasons of your favorite shows it is hard not to fall in love will the families and friends that we tune in to watch religiously every week.

Through their TV shows you are able to experience these families highs and lows, it almost feels as if you know them personally. Many times TV shows are able to transport us away from our own problems and enjoy some relaxation for thirty minutes. For those thirty minutes you are able to focus on the characters problems instead of your own.

With that being said, how well do you know your favorite TV Families? Do you think that you will be able to guess what show they are from with just a few key facts? We included families from past sitcoms as well as present shows so you better catch up on all your favorite programs before trying your hand at this quiz.

 

Question 1

The Tanners

This family is not your typical family. It includes a total of nine people and they live in San Francisco California! Danny Tanner is a widowed father of three girls that enlists the help of his brother in law, Jesse, and his best friend, Joey, to help raise his three daughters: DJ, Stephanie and Michelle. Along the way they add a few members to their unique family including Aunt Becky, Nicky and Alex. They also get a golden retriever named Comet! This family graced our televisions for a whopping eight years!

The Pearson Family

The Pearson family is about as unique as unique gets. Jack and Rebecca are both loving and attentive parents who care for their “triplets” Kevin, Randall and Kate. Throughout the series Kevin develops into someone who is more conscience of others feelings and compassionate whereas Kate learns how to stand up for herself and take control of her life. Randall is the typical over achiever and does everything by the book. The Pearson’s face their fair share of hardships and up and downs but in the end they always come out stronger then before.

The Simpson Family

This family loves to make jokes and be funny. Their show is satirical depiction of working-class life. The family consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie. The Simpsons live in the fictional Middle American town of Springfield. The father, Homer, works as a safety inspector at a Nuclear Power Plant whereas Marge, the mother, is a typical American housewife. Their oldest son Bart is the troublemaker of the family, their daughter Lisa is an activist and the baby Maggie doesn’t speak.

The Wilkerson Family

If any TV family is dysfunctional the Wilkerson’s definitely top the list. Lois and Hal are the matriarch and patriarch, respectively, of the Wilkerson family. They have five sons: Francis, Reese, Malcolm, Dewey and Jamie. Their show centers around their son Malcolm’s struggles with being an adolescent genius. Malcolm has a photographic memory and because of this he is placed in a class for gifted students. Lois is a strict mother whereas Hal is a more easygoing and fun dad.

The Heck Family

The Heck family is a middle-class family living in Indiana. They face everyday struggles of home life, work and raising children. The patriarch of the family, Mike Heck, works at a local limestone quarry as the manager while the matriarch of the show, Frankie Heck, used to work at a car dealership before becoming a dental assistant. The couple have three children: Axl, Sue Sue, and Brick, who drive them crazy. The Heck family is extremely relatable and hilarious in their daily antics.

The Winslow Family

This family lives in Chicago, Illinois and includes a whole slew of different people. The father of the Winslow clan, Carl, is a police officer. Carl is married to Harriette and they have three children: Eddie, Laura and Judy. Also included in the Winslow family is Carl’s street-wise mother, Estelle and Harriette’s sister Rachel who moved into their house after her husbands death. Another important part of this family is their nerdy neighbor Steve Urkel, at first the family was not keen about him always being around but eventually they got used to the idea.

The Huxtable Family

The Huxtable family consists of Cliff, Clair, Sondra, Denise, Theo, Vanessa and Rudy. Cliff, the patriarch, is an obstetrician and Clair, the matriarch, is an attorney. The Huxtable family is an upper middle-class African American family that lives in a brownstone in Brooklyn Heights, New York. Although they are wealthy the Huxtable’s face a lot of real life problems in their show including learning disabilities, racism and teen pregnancy. If you grew up in the 80s and 90s then you undoubtedly know this crew.

The Barone Family

You were most likely introduced to the Barone family through your parents. The Barone family consists of Raymond, Debra, Ally, Michael and Geoffrey. Also included in the Barone family are Raymond’s parents Marie and Frank and his brother Robert. Marie, Robert and Frank live across the street from Raymond and his family, this makes for interesting and hilarious encounters. Raymond is a sportswriter for Newsday who prefers to ignore his problems and watch TV. Debra on the other hand is a housewife who likes to talk about her feelings and face problems head on.

The Taylor Family

The Taylor family consists of Tim, Jill, Brad, Randy and Mark. The Taylor family lives in suburban Detroit. Tim, the father, is a stereotypical American male who loves power tools, cars and sports. Tim is the host of his own home improvement show despite being goofy and accident prone. Tim’s wife, Jill serves as the voice of reason for her family and keeps her husband and sons in check. Brad is the oldest of the boys and is both popular and athletic. Randy, the middle child, is the comedian of the family. Lastly, Mark started off as a mama’s boy but eventually grew into an outcast who liked to dress in all black.

The Kennish-Vasquez Family

Well where do we even start with this family. The Kennish-Vasquez family has experience a quite unusual chain of events including their daughters being switched at birth. The main members of the family include John, Kathryn, Regina, Bay, Daphne and Toby. Bay and Daphne were switched at birth but reunited when they were fifteen and now they are all one big happy family, kind of. John and Kathryn are both extremely wealthy whereas Regina has always had some financial difficulties.

The Matthews Family

The Matthews family is as cookie cutter as family’s come. Alan and Amy are the parents of the Matthews family. They are good hardworking people who love their kids. Cory, the main character of the show, is a good all american boy. His best friend Shawn becomes a member of their family when his own parents abandon him on more than one occasion. Also included in the Matthews clan is Cory’s older brother Eric, his younger sister Morgan and his youngest brother Joshua. Corey’s high school sweetheart, Topanga, also joins the family when her and Corey get married later in the series.

The Griffins

The Griffins family consist of six people. Peter is the patriarch of the family and Lois is the Matriarch. They have three children: Meg, Chris and Stewie as well as a dog, Brian. The Griffins are always getting into some sort of trouble and poking fun at something or someone. The family lives in the fictional city of Quahog, Rhode Island. Peter is a blue collar worker and Lois is a stay at home mom and piano teacher. Chris is the oldest of their kids followed by Meg and then Stewie.

The Johnson Family

The Johnson Family is an upper class African American family consisting of parents Dre and Bow. Dre is an advertising executive who tries to pass his urban culture onto his children and Bow is an anesthesiologist who was raised by hippies. Their children are Zoey, Junior, Jack and Diane. Zoey is similar to her father in the way that they are both shallow whereas Junior is labeled as the “nerd”, but both his siblings and father. Twins Jack and Diane are always getting into some sort of trouble.

The Gilmore Family

The Gilmore family, although small, is strong and powerful. Lorelai and her teenage daughter Rory make up the Gilmore family. Lorelai grew up in Hartford with her rich parents but when she became pregnant as a teenager she left home to raise her daughter in the close-knit town of Star Hollows. Here she got a job at a local Inn and built a family for her and her daughter. Although Lorelai and Rory increasingly have contrasting views they always remain close with one another.

The Cunningham Family

This family lives in none other then Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The family consists of Howard, Richie, Marion, Joanie and Chuck. The series used the Cunningham family to present an idealized vision of life in the mid-1950s to mid 1960s in the Midwestern United States. Howard, the patriarch, owns a hardware store and his wife Marion is a traditional homemaker and stay at home mother. The series focused on on Richie and his friends trials through growing up. Another main part of this family is Richie's friend Fonzie.

The Dunphy Family

The Dunphy family includes grandparents Grace and Frank followed by their son Phil and his wife Claire. Phil and Claire have Haley, Alex and Luke. Phil sees himself as a "cool dad" who is always trying to find new ways to bond with his kids. Claire is a once wild child who is now neurotic about keeping her house clean and usually a go to for the other characters on the show when they need parenting advice. All of their children have their own personalities and quirks.

The Wheeler Family

The Wheeler Family is quite unique. Ben is the main patriarch and father of Emma. Emma was a result of a one night stand and dumped on Ben's doorstep when she was less than a year old. Ben's brother, Danny and his best friend, Tucker both help him raise his daughter as well as his mother and his childhood friend Riley. Although the Wheeler family is not your typical cookie cutter family they work hard to give Emma the best life possible.

The Baxter Family

The Baxter Family recently returned to our screens with a reboot of the original show. However before their new show they had another show that ran from 2003 to 2007. The Baxter family resided in San Francisco. The Baxter family includes psychic teen Raven, her parents Tanya and Victor, as well as her little brother Corey. Also Raven's two best friends Chelsea and Eddie are big parts of the show and basically members of the family. Raven's psychic powers lead to hilarious and crazy encounters for the whole family.

The Van der Woodsen's

The Van der Woodsen's are one of the richest, well known families on the upper east side. They can be seen at all of the hottest events and popular parties. Lily has lived this lavish lifestyle her entire life but Serena and Eric are still trying to get used to it and find their place in the world. Although they are rich and have all the things that we can only dream about they are still nice down to earth people.

The Stewarts

This family has a very big secret that they have been hiding from the world. The patriarch, Billy Ray, is a retired musician and his daughter, Miley, is following in his footsteps pursing her own musical career. Billy Ray's daughters best friend Lily also moved in with them after her mom's job was transferred so she has become an honorary member of the Stewart family. This show follows the two best friends trials and tribulations through balancing two different lives.

The Coopers

From the outside the Coopers look like an ordinary American family but there are anything but. Betty's sister Polly was sent away for getting knocked up as a teenager and her mother is a retired member of a local street gang. Not to mention that her father has a whole slew of secrets that we still don't really know about. Betty on the other hand is always hunting down some sort of criminal and using her schools newspaper as a way to expose corruption.

The Winchesters

The Winchester brothers are known for being badass brothers who travel around the country hunting town evil supernatural creatures in order to keep the public safe. Dean is the older brother and is very resourceful hunter. Sam the younger brother, was roped into hunting supernaturals by his brother Dean but grew his own love and appreciation for it. The pair has graced out television sets for over a decade and with their series just renewed for another season it doesn't seem like they will be leaving anytime soon.

The Burkes

Although the Burke's may be a small family their love is just as strong as any other. Peter Burke is an honest FBI Agent who loves his job and works hard at being successful. His wife Elizabeth is an event planner. Elizabeth is very understanding when it comes to Peter's hectic work schedule and always picks up the slack at work when Peter is working on a particularly hard and grueling case. They also have a yellow lab named Satchmo.

The Lyons

The patriarch of the Lyon family, Lucious, is a former drug dealer turned music mogul. His outspoken ex-wife, Cookie, serves a 17 year stint in jail for drug dealing. She took the blame for Lucious even though she helped him build his music empire. She is determined to not only bring the Lyon family back together but also regain what she believes is hers. The two have three sons: Hakeem, Jamal and Andre. Lucious must chose a successor out of his three sons for his busy music industry.

Question 25

The Juergen's

Well, if there is one thing that the Juergen's know about it is drama! Starting with the parents George and Anne, who are constantly bickering and going all the way down to their two daughters Amy and Ashley. Amy got pregnant before she even started high school by a boy she didn't know, resulting in her son John. Ashely is often forgotten and as a result does anything she can to get attention from her parents. Anne gets pregnant with a son Robbie shortly after John is born.
