There's a great number of romantic comedies out there, but 10 Things I Hate About You is still placed among the best of them. This is due to a number of factors - great performances, unconventional direction, interesting writing and so on - but simply put, the movie is clearly different from the standard rom com. Its protagonist (or one of them, at any rate) isn't like your average rom com starlet - she's subdued, temperamental and kind of a meanie, for lack of a more digestible word. And the dude of the movie is Heath Ledger, supreme artist extraordinaire and master of theatrical range, in one of his most refreshing, yet simple roles.
