If You Can Name More Than 50% Of These Movies, You're Super Feminine

No matter your age, or politics there are somethings that a majority of females have in common.  One of them being a special place in their heart for a great film.  There's just something about cozying up at home with a great flick, or going to the movies with the girls.  The term "chick flick" was coined to describe types of films that are directed towards the female gender.  These films contain emotion, or are relationship-based.  They do not need to  be romantic to be considered a "chick flick".

Derogatory slang aside, female audiences are also into action and adventure films.  In recent years, there has been an increase in strong, female led films, and there is no sign of that trend stopping anytime soon. There are men that also enjoy these films but they may have not watched as many as the average female nor watched as many times.

So grab your girl gang, fix a cocktail, and see how well you do on this quiz.  Pick the name of the movie based on the picture and synopsis.  If you can name at least 50% of these movies, you are definitely a girl, or have a well rounded taste in movies.

Teen Angst

This John Hughes classic hit theaters in 1984. It starred Molly Ringwald as "Samantha". Her parents have forgotten it's her birthday and to top it off she has a major crush on the hottest guy in school, "Jake Ryan". Adding comedy to the mix is "Farmer Ted", who is trying to work his way up the popularity ladder. The film also had a great soundtrack that set the mood of teen angst, and a very special final scene between Samantha and Jake.

This film starring Reese Witherspoon hit theaters in 2001 and had subsequent sequels thanks to its box office mojo. "Elle Woods" (Witherspoon) decides to follow her ex-boyfriend to law school. In this funny film, she quickly figures out that there is more to life than just her looks. The saying, "don't judge a book by its cover", is a theme throughout the movie. Elle is granted admission to Harvard after a creative submission. It's a feel good movie that is great for a girls night.

Ok peeps, this film had to be on our list. Love it or hate it, this movie based on a popular book, has a huge following. Three films have now been done but in this question we're asking for the name of the first one. This movie hit theaters in 2015 and for those that were not aware of the books, the "red room" scenes caused many blushed faces. That's nothing to be ashamed of. Fans of the book, blushed just as much, if not more, thanks to the detailed descriptions of Christian and Anastasia's play dates.

This 1991 classic, starred Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon. They played best friends that stick together through good times and the worst of times. Brad Pitt landed a small role in the film and boy did it put him on the watch list of ladies everywhere. Though many parts of the movie are funny, it also has extremely serious subject matter in it. This 2012 comedy/drama tells the story of male strippers in Tampa, Florida. The main role in the film is played by Channing Tatum, bringing him back to his dancing days. This movie was so popular with female audiences that a sequel was made in 2015. Both movies were definitely "girls night out" flicks. Following the films success, Channing Tatum, conceived and directed a live performance show that now runs at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.

Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger starred in this updated adaptation of William Shakespeare's play, "The Taming of the Shrew". Julia played the part of "Katarina (Kat) Stratford, a senior that loves feminist prose and hates anything trendy. She lives with her sister, Bianca, and widower father. Bianca schemes with Cameron, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, to find someone to date Kat. Enter Patrick Verona (Ledger), this mysterious, bad boy accepts the challenge off dating Kat thanks to the money that Cameron is paying him. Soon enough though, Patrick falls for Kat and we can't help falling for Patrick Verona. This was the first mainstream American film for the extremely talented, late great Heath Ledger.

Grab the Tissues

This 1957 classic may be old but the story and performances will stand the test of time. The lovely Deborah Kerr and debonair Cary Grant star in this film about two strangers that meet on ship and fall in love. They are both on their way back to New York, where NIckie (Grant) is to marry an heiress, and Terry (Kerr) is returning to her long time boyfriend. They agree to meet each other in six months on top of the Empire State building.

King Leonidas

In this 2006 epic, we heard King Leonidas, played by Gerard Butler, yell to his men before battle, "Spartans! Ready your breakfast and eat hearty...For tonight, we dine in hell!". Both men and women enjoyed this move, though for maybe not all of the same reasons. Gerard Butler spent and average of four hours a day for four months in the gym to get physically ready for this role. A young Michael Fassbender played the part of "Stelios", a Spartan warrior.

Tina Fey wrote the screenplay for this 2004 film adapted from a novel by Rosalind Wiseman. Before all of her legal woes, Lindsay Lohan broke away from her Disney roots as "Cady Heron". A girl that just transferred to a high school after living in Africa. As any high school goes, Cady wants to fit in and she does with "The Plastics", the most popular girls in school. The leader of this malicious group is Regina, played by Rachel McAdams.

This 1992 heart-warming film tells the story of the first female professional baseball league. During World War II, most jobs were filled by women due to the men being at war. The owners of baseball teams did not want to forgo games and decided to find women to play. Tom Hanks stars as "Jimmy Dugan", an alcoholic former star baseball player, that must manage the Rockford Peaches team. The teams catcher, Dottie, played by Geena Davis, is a strong, confident woman with a love of the game and a husband at war. It is a fun movie that also pulls at your heart strings.

Starring the classy, talented and beautiful Audrey Hepburn, as Holly Golightly, this 1961 film introduced every girl their new favorite color. Set in New York City, it centers on Holly, a Manhattan party girl with wonderful accessories. She lives in a walk-up apartment where she meets Paul Varjak, played by George Peppard. The two become friends and eventually fall in love. Holly Golightly, like most women, has a special place in her heart for a particular store. Known for its gorgeous, regal items and trademark logo and color, walking into the store is like a dream for Holly.

This hilarious 1995 film centers around Cher played by Alicia Silverstone, her friends, and the fanciful lifestyle they have. The cast is adorable and relatable as they try to navigate high school and dating. It is a fun-filled coming of age movie that doesn't take itself too seriously. Whether you watched the movie when it first came out or streamed it on Netflix for the first time, chances are you relate to one of the characters. The film also stars, Paul Rudd, Stacey Dash, Brittany Murphy, Donald Faison and many more talented actors and actresses.

Rutger Hauer, Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Broderick star in this medieval film about a man and a woman that can never be together because of a curse. The film follows "Amy" (Kunis) and her two best friends "Carla" (Hahn) and, "Kiki" (Bell), as they try to navigate motherhood, full time jobs, and social expectations. Baby (Grey) steps in as partner for Johnny Castle (Swayze), when his partner gets sick from a procedure. The music and dancing in this film are amazing. Swayze shows off his natural dancing talents and made ladies all across the globe fall for him. Every lady wants to have the dance that Baby and Johnny shared at the end of the film. Major bonus points for any guy that can do that dance.

Dancing in Heaven

A very young Sarah Jessica Parker and Helen Hunt star in this coming of age film about dancing, love, and growing up. It follows "Janey" (Parker), and her pursuit to become a dancer on television despite her father's strict, militant rules. With the help of her best friend "Lynne" (Hunt), Janey is selected for the finals of a televised dance contest with her bad boy partner "Jeff", played by Lee Montgomery. This is a fun movie that makes you laugh and makes you wanna dance. There's even a scene where you can see Robert Downey Jr. playing the part of "Punk Party Crasher", before hit it big.

Frankly My Dear

This film holds the title of the oldest on in our quiz, as it was released in 1939. It is nearly 4 hours long and if box office tickets were adjusted for inflation, it would be the top-grossing movie of all time. Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable lead an ensemble cast in this Civil War and Reconstruction Period era romance. It won 8 Oscars, including the first nomination and win for an African-American, Hattie McDaniel, for her role as "Mammy".

It took 17 years for producer, Edward Zwick, to get this story up on the big screen and we're glad he was persistent. It is based in the early 1900s and follows the story of three brothers and their father living in remote Montana. Loyalty, love, family, and destiny are tested in this dramatic story. Brad Pitt, who plays "Tristan", gave a charming, heartfelt performance throughout the film. The film also stars, Anthony Hopkins, Aidan Quinn, Julia Ormond, and Henry Thomas.

Garry Marshall directed this 1990 hit romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. Vivian (Roberts) is hired by the wealthy Edward (Gere) to accompany him to some social events. Eventually the two fall for each other but things go awry and Edward must choose between business and love. This hot action film was the beginning of "Brangelina". It was a hit with all audiences. Watching a confident and strong woman that can fight just as well as the guys if not better is empowering. The chemistry between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in this film is off the charts, especially in a scene where they beat the crap out of each other. They play a married couple that are both spies but neither one knows that about the other. It is soon discovered when they are hired to take out the same mark.
