One Tree Hill is an American teenage television drama created by Mark Schwahn. Originally, the concept started out as a film titled "The Unkindness of Ravens" but after falling in love with the characters and with Tree Hill, the decision was made to turn the concept into a television show. Obviously this was a good choice as the show went on for a successful 9 seasons. The show premiered in 2003 and lasted until 2012. The show has also been nominated for many awards over the years since the show premiered. The most recent award was "Choice Throwback TV Show" at the Teen Choice Awards in 2017.
The theme song "I Don't Wanna Be" by Gavin DeGraw became an inspirational hit that many fans still know all the words to and can't help turning the song up and belting out the words.
One Tree Hill follows the life of 5 teenagers navigating their way through life and high school in a small town. The parents and surrounding grown ups in the town also have a lot of emotional baggage to deal with. Luckily, creator Mark Schwahn is able to create a balance between the dark and serious topics by incorporating light-hearted moments and hilarious episodes.

The pilot episode of One Tree Hill is one of the greatest episodes of the entire series. The introduction of numerous complicated relationships paired with sports and teenage angst drew in many viewers. However, creators felt there was something missing. One Tree Hill is known for its love triangles, and this one happens to be the most iconic. The boyfriend and the best friend is a sad cliche, but with all the complicated relationships in Tree Hill, not having copious love triangles would be unrealistic. We end up feeling for all of the characters as it is clear that Brooke, Lucas, and Peyton all care about each other deeply in different ways. However, when it comes to romance, three is a crowd.

Let’s face it pregnancy scares are good for drama… and this is the first of many throughout the series. This character's pregnancy scare disrupts the lives of quite a few of Tree Hill residents. It was definitely a relief when the character reveals that they are not pregnant. But pregnancy scares are a good tool for television shows because the way a character reacts says a lot about their character. The scare was good for drama, but it is hard to imagine what the show would have been like if she were pregnant.

This encounter is easily forgotten about in the later seasons but the shock comes back every time a new character finds out.

While Dan Scott is pretty much enemy number 1 throughout the first season, Nicki is definitely in second place. She comes to town and shakes up the rest of the characters on the show. With all of the drama and hurt this character has caused, it is shocking and upsetting to a lot of characters when they find out one of their friends slept with her.

This episode is iconic as it represents the beginning of our core 5 characters [Lucas, Brooke, Peyton, Haley, Nathan], bonding. Nathan and Lucas have a physical fight during their away basketball game so Coach Whitey kicks them off the bus. Luckily for the coach, this bonding exercise worked as it gave the boys a common enemy. At least for one night. Some of the tasks they made them do were funny, and we feel for the boys, but any excuse to have these two shirtless seems like a good excuse.

After all the accidents, you would think they would walk or take the bus more often. Towards the end of the first season, tensions are definitely high among the characters. This fight occurs after Haley and Nathan begin dating, and after Brooke finds out that Lucas and Peyton had an emotional affair behind her back. What was originally meant to be a small coming out party for Haley to throw to establish herself in the popular world of jocks and cheerleaders turned into an absolute mess. With almost all of the young characters in one place, it is no surprise that a fight broke out.

This marriage shocks both characters of Tree Hill and viewers alike. There was no talk of a wedding, until the big reveal that these two characters were already married. While the effects of this marriage wont be seen until season 2, this is a pivotal moment in season 1 that changes the course of the entire show. While TV dramas have certain cliches for season finales, this marriage really made One Tree Hill stand out among the rest of the teenage drama television series. Can you say PLOT TWIST?
Who plans on leaving Tree Hill at the end of season 1?
Although it would be hard to imagine the show without these two central characters, their motives for wanting to leave were completely understandable. Heartbreak and needing a fresh start is a common feeling. This revelation is built up to towards the end of the season, leaving the characters time to say their emotional goodbyes. However, this relocation to Charleston does not stick. Despite the emotional roller coaster of watching some of our favourite characters say goodbye, we are definitely happy to see them back in Tree Hill.
