Monica is an acquired taste for both fans and the people in her life. In the beginning of Friends, Monica was planned to be more free-spirited when it came to men. She dates early and often. After seeing her character really thrive when she's in control, however, that all changed. She ended up finding relationships difficult and she struggled to find a suitable partner for a while.
