What’s not to love about Disney Villains? They are wicked, determined, crazy, and fabulous. Whether you love them or hate them—or love to hate them—you can’t deny their eccentric personalities. It’s difficult not to sing along to their catchy songs or be blown away by their song sequences. Just watch Facilier’s “Friends on the Other Side” from The Princess and the Frog or Ursula’s “Poor Unfortunate Souls” from The Little Mermaid and you’ll understand.
Of course, the villains are trying to ruin the lives of the princesses, princes, and other protagonists of our beloved Disney movies but they do it in an over the top and humorous way that makes it difficult to fully hate them. They will do whatever it takes to get what they want and add humor to the movies. Mickey's House of Villains was one of the best movies for the Disney Villain lovers because it brought all the villains together under one roof to terrorize and wreak havoc.
Some of us went against the norm of hating these villains and they have become some of our favorite characters. For these fans, Disney began marketing with the villains, primarily the Disney Divas of Darkness including Cruella de Vil, the Evil Queen, the Queen of Hearts, Ursula, and Maleficent. The mistress of all evil herself had a movie made in 2014 about her past and why she became a villain.

Why does Captain Hook have his hook?
Captain Hook lost his hand and had to get a hook to replace it, hence the name Captain Hook. The reason he lost his hand plays into his fear of a certain ticking crocodile who wants to eat him, since he now has a taste of him. Throughout the movie, the crocodile tries to get Hook and they are reunited at the end. After the fight with Peter Pan the audience sees the crocodile chasing Hook while he practically is running on water to get away. How did the crocodile get Hook's hand, causing him to have a hook?

Lady Tremaine is one of the only Disney Villains who doesn't seem evil. She talks in a calm voice and doesn't do anything too crazy to get her way. She is a villain who shows the villainous ways of every day people since she is Cinderella's step mother. Once Cinderella's father dies, Tremaine's cruelness emerged. She made Cinderella become the maid to her and her two daughters which isn't the worst thing we have seen in a Disney movie. Why was Yzma upset that Kuzco fired her?
In The Emperor's New Groove, Yzma is the main villain and is out to kill Kuzco. She comes up with plans in her "secret" laboratory that is full of potions. She originally wanted to turn Kuzco into a flea and put him in multiple boxes, mail the box to herself and then smash it. She soon realizes that it would be easier just to poison him and decides to do it at a dinner. Mistakenly, she grabs a potion that turns him into a llama instead. She wants to kill him to gain his power and because she was fired from being his adviser. What is the real reason she was upset she was fired?
Why does the Queen want to kill Snow White?
Disney's first villain is the wicked step mother to Snow White. Sound familiar Disney seems to really enjoy the whole evil step mother trope idea. The Evil Queen doesn't like Snow White when her mirror tells her that her step daughter is now the fairest in the land. The Queen does not like this since she is obsessed with her looks and wants to forever be the prettiest out of everyone. Why does the Queen of Hearts want to kill Alice?
In Alice in Wonderland, the Queen of Hearts is not easily pleased. If you do anything she doesn't like she has you beheaded. This qualifies her as a true villain, even if she doesn't get to actually do anything to Alice during the movie. She invites Alice to play a game of croquet with her that involves flamingos as the mallets. The Cheshire Cat appears and causes some mischief, leading to the Queen wanting to behead Alice. Governor Ratcliffe is similar to other Disney Villains because he is power and money hungry. He tricks people into helping him even though he plans on keeping all of the gold and other things that the expedition finds. The other men on his expedition don't know about his evil ways until the end of the movie when he tries to shoot Powhatan. John Smith jumps in front of the shot and the other men begin to attack Ratcliffe and tie him up. Is Ratcliffe based on a real person?
Why does Ursula hate Ariel?
Ursula is one of the over the top villains that is able to charm us with her eccentric personality. Ursula was based off of the famous drag queen, Divine, and is over the top with everything including her movements. Her song, "Poor Unfortunate Souls," show cases her personality and how fabulous she is. She is based off of the sea witch from the original fairy tale but is drastically changed. The original sea witch didn't have a name and wasn't nearly as villainous as Ursula.

Walt Disney himself apparently didn't want him to die at the end of Peter Pan because he believed the audience would grow to love Captain Hook. In Sleeping Beauty, she puts a curse on King Stefan and Queen Leah's baby because she wasn't invited to the christening. Why does Frollo try to have Esmeralda killed?
Frollo has always hated the gypsy families that try to illegally enter and live in Paris and Esmeralda is no exception to this hatred. He tries to have her captured throughout the whole movie, but eventually wants her dead. Phoebus originally helps Frollo search for her and stays loyal to him until Frollo burns down a house that had gypsies staying in it. Frollo eventually finds Esmeralda and wants her killed. Why did Frollo want Esmeralda burnt alive at the stake?

After Jafar steals the magic lamp back from Aladdin, he makes his own wishes to finally fulfill his desire for power. He becomes the Sultan after using his first wish, giving him control of Jasmine. Megara is Hades' slave and he makes her try to recruit other monsters to join his army that will take down Zeus. Hades has constantly been trying to kill Hercules by having different creatures and monsters fight him. Hercules meets Meg at one of Hades' planned battles and begins to fall for her which Hades eventually finds out. Hades makes a deal with Hercules to give Meg her freedom if Hercules gives up his powers for twenty four hours which is conveniently the same time that Hades is taking over Olympus. Shere Khan is one of the few Disney Villains that is an animal and is very ruthless towards Mowgli. Mowgli was found by a black panther named Bagheera who brought him to live with the wolves. Once he is older the wolves and Bagheera decide he should live with other humans, but Mowgli escapes. Shere Khan hears about this and begins to hunt him now that he is unprotected. He is constantly trying to hunt Mowgli and kill him which makes him the villain of The Jungle Book. Why does he hunt Mowgli?
