The Vampire Diaries was a very popular show that ran on the CW Network from 2009 to 2017. The show had a total of eight seasons that were jam packed with drama, death and love. Although the characters on The Vampire Diaries were constantly fighting and trying to kill one another, at the end of the day they were a very dysfunctional family that loved one another and would do anything to keep each other safe.
Whether you are team Damon or team Stefan there is no denying the fact that this show sucks you in from the first episode and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the very end. You are constantly wondering who did what, where this person is, and how it will end. The Vampire Diaries was not afraid to kill off any of the main characters, which they have proven time and time again which meant that none of your favorites were safe, making the show that much more exciting to watch. Sometimes the character not showing on screen meant they were kidnapped, sometimes it meant their demise. But then again, they were vampires, so you never knew what could happen.
With so many seasons and so many episodes it would be easy to forget some of the small details, but a true Vampire Diaries fan will be able to pass this quiz with flying colors!
What is the name of the Original vampire family?
Vampires were not put on this earth in the same manner as humans. They were created by a witch in order to prevent her from losing any more of her children. This family became known as "The Originals" and are the strongest vampires in existence. Besides the mother and father there are six children including Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah, Kol, Fin and Freya. The Originals ran around the earth causing havoc wherever they went until their father decided to hunt them down one by one and destroy them. Luckily he was unsuccessful.
Who killed Elena resulting in her becoming a vampire?
Elena basically became a vampire by chance and accident. No one expected her to die with Damon's blood in her system but she was unexpectedly killed by a certain someone. The person who killed Elena was seeking vengeance for a family member of her who was killed by some of Elena's close friends. Stefan was given the opportunity to save Elena, but she forced him to take Matt first and he was too late when he came back to save Elena.
Who killed Aunt Jenna?
Aunt Jenna became Elena and Jeremy's guardian when their parents died. Although Aunt Jenna was young and still in school she did her best to raise Elena and Jeremy the way that her sister and brother in law would have wanted. Just when Jenna was starting to get the hang of things and even found love with Alaric she was sadly killed by a supernatural. Jenna's passing was one of the saddest moments on the show because she was completely innocent, just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
What was Damon's Augustine number?
In the beginning of the fifth season we find out that sixty years ago Damon was kidnapped and tortured by Augustine scientist. For years they cut Damon up and performed experiments all in the name of science. During his time here Damon met Enzo who was in the same situation as him and the two became friends and comforted one another during their ordeal. Eventually Damon was able to escape during New Years Eve and never looked back or talked about his time there.
Why does Lexi return to Mystic Falls?
In the first season we are introduced to Stefan's best friend, Lexi. Lexi comes to Mystic Falls for s specific reason, but sadly her visit is cut short when she is killed. Damon kills Lexi in a bid to infiltrate the council and protect his identity. He thinks that by killing Lexi they will assume that the vampire problem is taken care of, leading them away from him and his brother. This obviously doesn't work, but Damon does infiltrate and eventually lead the council.
Who is the first vampire to be bitten by Tyler Lockwood?
Early on in the series we find out that Tyler Lockwood carries the werewolf gene. He must avoid any situation that could be potentially dangerous so that he doesn't activate the gene and become a werewolf. Sadly, Tyler is unable to do this and the gene is activated. With the help of Caroline, Tyler tries his best to control himself once he turns in order to not hurt any innocent people. For the most part he is successful, but one night he turns before he is able to tie himself up and bites someone.
Who turns Alaric into a vampire?
Alaric came to Mystic Falls in order to get more information on his deceased wife and revenge. He witnessed her being turned into a vampire by Damon and he wanted to kill him. Little did Alaric know that his wife sought out Damon and begged to be turned into a vampire. Eventually Alaric becomes friends with Damon and everyone else. Alaric, however, did not stay human throughout the series, someone turned him into a vampire in order to use him as their own personal weapon. Who was it?

Doppelgängers are completely normal on The Vampire Diaries. In the beginning of the series everyone was taken aback by the resemblance between Katherine and Elena, but as the series progressed everyone just got used to it and treated it like it was no big deal. Little did they know how common doppelgängers were in their friend circle. Every where you turn there is another doppelgänger just waiting to be discovered. But does Damon Salvatore have a doppelgänger of his own? Can the world handle two or more Damon Salvatore's?
How many Petrova doppelgängers are there?
When Stefan saw Elena he immediately was taken aback by how much she looked like Katherine. No one had ever heard of the term doppelgänger so everyone just assumed that they looked so much alike because they were related. Once Elena found out she was adopted it made a bit more sense, but it wasn't until Klaus came to town that everyone realized the true power of doppelgängers. We all know that Elena and Katherine are doppelgängers, but are there any more Petrova doppelgängers that we know about?
Who was the first vampire to take the cure?
A large part of season four was about the supposed cure for vampirism. Elena and her friends had a lot of things that they had to do to find this cure that they weren't even sure existed. First Jeremy had to kill enough vampires to reveal the map on his body and then they had to travel to a deserted island in order to retrieve it from a cave. Once they got there they were in a mad rush to get to it before anyone else.
What is Tyler Lockwood?
Throughout the series Tyler pops in and out. Him and Caroline date for a while, but eventually break up when he tells her that he is leaving Mystic Falls for good this time, but big surprise this isn't actually his last time stepping foot in the small town. Eventually Tyler is killed by Damon. Tyler runs into Damon when he is having a mental breakdown and tries to talk him into doing the right thing. This proves detrimental and ends with Damon feeding on Tyler. He does become one of these in between, but he starts off, and dies of something else. What is he once he dies?
What is the name of Elena's parents?
Although Elena's mom and dad are killed before the series starts they are still mentioned a number of times throughout the series. She looks to them for comfort when she is feeling down or having a hard time. Elena and Jeremy never forget the things that their parents taught them and hold on tightly to the memories that they have of them when everything begins to change in their world. When the series starts they are paralyzed by grief, but as the series progresses they learn to live again.
What is the name of the herb that protects humans from vampires?
Throughout the series there is a specific herb or plant that is talked about and seen that protects humans from vampires. Even though it doesn't fully protect humans it allows them to not be compelled and burns vampires throats if a vampire tries to feed off of them. Alaric took this a bit further and made weapons with this plant in order to aid in his vampire hunting. He created stakes, bullets and even bombs that can seriously decapitate, if not kill, a vampire.
Why does Stefan force Damon into becoming a vampire?
Stefan feels a lot of guilt when it comes to Damon. It is a bit of a mystery for a while why he feels such tremendous guilt and why he blames himself for Damon's behavior. Finally it is revealed in a conversation between Elena and Stefan that Stefan actually forced Damon to feed in order to complete his transformation. Although Damon was fully prepared to be changed, when he thought that Katherine had died, he no longer wanted to live forever.
How does Alaric's wife Jo die?
Alaric has defied all of the things that came his way. He was able to find peace after he found out his wife was a vampire, got over Jenna's death and even was made human again after a crazy witch turned him into a vampire. After everything he fell in love with a successful doctor and was expecting twins. At his wedding to Jo however she was killed unexpectedly leaving Alaric heartbroken and lost. How did his wife end up dying at the alter?
Who was the first person Caroline dated on the show?
Caroline made her way through many of The Vampire Diaries men before finding her one true love Stefan. Through her many failed relationships Caroline was able to grow and mature as a person. By the end of the series she was less shallow, happy and content with her life. But can you remember who the first person that Caroline dated on the show was? Elena was finally able to take the cure and cure her vampirism, something that she only dreamed of. She also came to terms with her feelings for Damon and was ready to be with him for the rest of her life when she was thrust into a slumber that kept her unconscious until Bonnie died. This spell was put on her by a witch trying to get back at both Damon and Bonnie for leaving him behind in an alternate universe.
How did Elena cope when Damon died?
Elena and Damon's relationship moved pretty fast. They quickly became each others whole world and fell completely in love with one another, even more so then her and Stefan. At the end of season five Damon dies along with Bonnie when her other side is destroyed and Damon is not able to get out in time as a result of saving all of his and Elena's friends, who had died and were stuck over there. How did Elena deal with losing Damon?
What was the name of the sirens?
Two of the characters introduced in the last season of The Vampire Diaries are the siren sisters. They wreck havoc on the citizens of Mystic Falls. One of the sisters take Damon and Enzo hostage and use mind control to force them to do their bidding for them for months while the other one gains Alaric and Caroline's trust in order to get close to their children and use them as bait for the devil. Why do the tomb vampires kidnap Stefan?
A good part of the first season revolves around the tomb vampires and their threat to the people of Mystic Falls. At one point the tomb vampires kidnap Stefan when he is out hunting and torture him for an entire day. Damon is able to infiltrate their house and rescue his brother before they do any fatal damage, but they don't stop there. Eventually, all of the tomb vampires are killed during the founders day celebration, but what was their motive all along?
Where did the Originals relocate?
During the fourth season of The Vampire Diaries, Klaus and his family decide to leave Mystic Falls and relocate to a new city. Klaus has a desire to take back a city that he believed once belong to him and in order to do so he must move there. All of his family follow him and they begin to rebuild their life and take back control of this city. This leads to the spinoff of The Vampire Diaries titled "The Originals".
What did Bonnie call her grandma?
Bonnie's grandma was a big part of the first couple of seasons. She taught Bonnie everything that she knows about being a witch and even helped the Salvatore brothers free Katherine from the tomb. Sadly the spell that her and Bonnie did in order to open the tomb was too powerful and ultimately caused her death. However, she makes a few more appearances in the show when she visits Bonnie. She even creates an alternate universe for Bonnie in order to save her from being blown into existence.
How does Caroline's mom die?
Caroline's mom Liz was much more than just Caroline's mom. She was the beloved Sheriff of Mystic Falls, a mother figure for everyone, head of the founders council and Damon Salvatore's best friend. When she passed away there was not a dry eye in the house. Her death was sudden, yet expected and even though Caroline was able to say goodbye to her mother, she just couldn't take the lose. As a result she turned off her humanity and it took a lot to get her back to normal.
What kind of car does Stefan drive?
Stefan is a man of few pleasures. He doesn't indulge in all that life has to offer like his brother Damon and he doesn't splurge on expensive toys. He does however have one prized possession, his car. He takes extreme care of his car and does it best to make sure that nothing happens to it. Stefan's car was first seen in the first season where he takes Elena on a double date with Matt and Caroline. Here he tells Matt that it is a family heirloom.
