How Well Do You Know Sailor Moon?

2.3K Shares

When it came to crime fighting with a side of girl power in the ‘90s, few could compete with Sailor Moon and her loyal Sailor Scouts. They were beautiful, funny, and fierce. They always seemed to know what to do when danger was at an all time high and friendship and love always seemed to come first over everything else. Although they weren’t flawless characters (hi, Sailor Moon was one of the clumsiest people around), they still seemed to have a perfect score when it came to defeating all the baddies that came their way. To top it off, they never put themselves first, they always fought for love and justice triumphing and learning with each and every battle.

Each scout had something different to bring to the mix. For example, Sailor Mercury was extra smart and Sailor Mars was psychic—these extra powers helped Sailor Moon defeat her enemies because let’s face it, she couldn’t win her battles without her scouts behind her. But do you know the ins and outs of this girlie super hero show? There are a lot of characters to keep track of at the end of the day and it could be tougher than you think. Take our quiz and see how you rank with Sailor Moon trivia!

Question 1

Who was the first Sailor Scout to join Sailor Moon?

This Sailor Scout went to the same school as Sailor Moon, aka Usagi, and was kind of a bookworm. It’s no surprise that she was the first scout the jump to Sailor Moon’s aid when there was trouble as she was always the first one to have a plan when the girls needed it. She’s quick on her feet and always seemed to have an answer when things looked bleak, and she was there before all the other scouts even knew that there were Sailor Scouts.

Question 2

What was Sailor Moon's first item?

Sailor Moon has been given a long list of items over the course of the show, scepters, compacts, a Luna Pen, a tiara, heck, even a chalice, but what was the first item she ever received as a Sailor Scout? It could be hard to remember since she literally received multiple items every season throughout the course of the show and she is the character that receives the most over everyone else. It also makes you think where the older items go when she upgrades.

Question 3

What is Sailor Moon's talking black cat's name?

Before Usagi was Sailor Moon, she was followed by a black cat who spoke to her, which understandably scared the heck out of her. Who wouldn’t be completely freaked out by a talking black cat? This cat was special though, she was destined to find and mentor Sailor Moon and gather the Sailor Scouts. Although it was a bit frightening at first, this cat became one of the closest friends to Usagi throughout all of her battles and life changes.

Question 4

Who is the masked crusader that always knows when Sailor Moon is in trouble?

Is it a surprise that Sailor Moon and this hunk had a thing for each other? Not really. Whenever she was in trouble, he was always on the scene with a rose in his hand for all the baddies. Wouldn’t it be nice if we all had a tall, dark, and handsome man around to save the day for us whenever we needed him? Although they had their ups and downs in their relationship, Sailor Moon and this masked man always seemed to keep coming back for more time and time again. It was basically destiny…literally.

Question 5

Where is Chibi-Usa from?

Chibi-Usa is a bit of a mystery for quite some time. No one really knows who she is or where she came from for quite some time. Her story is foggy at best and her and Usagi don’t seem to get along too well for quite some time either. When her story did come out, it was kind of one of those gasp-worthy moments for all those that were obsessed with the show (guilty). The story also revealed a lot about other characters in the show as well making Chibi-Usa a pretty important character.

Question 6

How many Sailor Scouts are there?

This one’s a tough one because the number fluctuated depending on how long you stuck around to watch the show. One thing I will say is that they are always changing their powers, so it was hard to keep up with what the heck their different powers were at any different time. Don’t even get me started on their own individual items on top of that. Did you ever wonder what happened to their old powers after they upgraded to their new powers though? Why just toss them out, right?

Question 7

What animal is Sailor Venus' guardian?

This happy animal’s name is Artemis and he spends his time by Sailor Venus’ side as well as helping the other Sailor Scouts. He is also helplessly in love with Luna. Unlike Luna, who is a pretty no nonsense type of personality, Artemis is much more laid back and will crack a joke to ease the tension that could be in the room. He is very protective of the Scouts and will take a hit to protect the ones he loves.

Question 8

What was Sailor Moon's name during the time of the Moon Kingdom?

The time of the Moon Kingdom was a peaceful and happy time. People laugh and danced—there wasn’t a worry in the world. That is until evil made it’s way into this beautiful time. The queen then had to send everyone into the future to spare them from death as the Moon Kingdom was crumbling under their feet, and then she perished as she sent her daughter, the princess, to Earth. It was sad to say the least, but this is how Sailor Moon got her start.

Question 9

Who is Sailor Saturn?

Sailor Saturn was the last Sailor Scout to be introduced to the show, and she is by far the most mysterious of the bunch (not to mention the youngest beside Chibi-Usa). She has this innocent look about her, but don’t be fooled by her young exterior, she has a lot of power underneath it all. She wasn’t always extremely friendly with the Sailor Scouts either as they had to battle her before she became their ally like many of their now friends.

Question 10

How old is Usagi in the beginning of the series?

Usagi is super young although she looks like she should be in her 20s easily. Plus, these girls are never with their parents; how do they never need parental supervision considering they aren’t of legal age? Heck, they don’t even make it to high school until close to the end of the show. Also, why is it that a bunch of teenagers are defending the universe’s well being? It seems pretty terrifying when you really sit and think about it.

Question 11

In the manga and Japanese version, Uranus and Neptune are...?

This is a tricky one because it is kind of a little hidden throughout the series, but if you pay attention it’s actually pretty obvious what’s going on here. Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune are known to be two of the toughest fighters of the Sailor Scouts as they are a little older and more experienced in life. It’s a real bummer that these two didn’t come to the party a little sooner…you know, like the first season because they are pretty solid characters.

Question 12

The Sailor Scout of Time is...

This Sailor Scout is pretty soft spoken and not much is known about her, but boy is she ever wise as she should be as the Sailor Scout of Time anyway. She was the first outer Sailor Scout to be introduced to the bunch, and she came in wielding a staff too…how cool is that? She also always seems to keep her cool when the going gets tough, which is what the Scouts need sometimes in all honesty. She’s wise beyond her years, and that helps the girls out a lot.

Question 13

Which Sailor Scout loves eating and hates studying?

Although this Sailor Scout has a lot of leadership qualities, she doesn’t have all of the best qualities when it comes to her studies or her health either. In fact, it seems like she can eat what a small village eats in one day in a single sitting. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could go through so much food and not gain a single pound just like this Sailor Scout? It’s just so unfair! But at the end of the day, this Scout seems to get by on her grades, despite the lack of studying.

Question 14

How did Sailor Moon defeat Queen Beryl?

Queen Beryl was the first foe the girls faced, and she was tough for a first go around! It took all of the Sailor Scouts to trump this evil woman and it was not a walk in the park by any means. However, Sailor Moon had a specific way she defeated Queen Beryl when it came down to it, but how did she do it? As a first timer, it couldn’t have been easy figuring out how to beat her first baddie, but she still did it. Way to go Sailor Moon!

Question 15

When Chibi-Usa was was infused with dark magic from the black moon, what was her name?

She doesn’t seem like much of a threat as a child, but when she gets infused with dark magic from the black moon it becomes a different story. She becomes a real force to reckon with in all reality and the Sailor Scouts really have to ban together in order to take her on as the future depends on it. This puts Sailor Moon in a really tough situation as she isn’t just fighting her usual run of the mill baddie here, she’s fighting a fellow Sailor Scout and her daughter in this instance. No bueno if you ask me.

Question 16

Who did Sailor Moon lend the Luna pen to in season one?

The Luna Pen makes a brief stint in season one, and normally Sailor Scouts don’t share their toys but this was one exception. Sailor Moon lent out The Luna Pen to one of the Inner Sailor Scouts because she was in need of the weapon. What does the Luna Pen do you ask? Great question. It turns the user into whomever they want to be in that moment. For instance, Sailor Moon used it to become a reporter in a tightly guarded situation one time. It’s a handy tool.

Question 17

Rei's grandfather possesses which Rainbow Crystal?

The amount of crystals we all possess according to this show is absolutely insane, but in this instance there was a hunt for rainbow crystals and Rei’s grandfather just happened to have one of them. That means the baddies got ahold of him, got his crystal, turned him into a baddie as well, and the Scouts had to take him on then turn him back into the lovable old man they all know and love. Whew, what an undertaking to endure all the time. Of course, they were successful, but could you imagine doing this on the regular?

Question 18

What does Sailor Jupiter use to attack her enemies?

Sailor Jupiter is the tomboy and the strength of the Inner Scouts. The other girls look up to her for her strength and persistence when it comes to her fighting. When she introduces herself, she also makes sure that message comes across as such as well. Sure, she might not hold a flame to the toughness that Sailor Uranus has because she is just on a whole other level, but she’s still pretty darn tough regardless. Sailor Jupiter might be a bit soft spoken but she definitely isn’t a scout that should be underestimated.

Question 19

Which three Sailor Scouts' skirt bows do not match their chest bows?

Uh oh, looks like a few of the Sailor Scouts don’t follow the cookie cutter guidelines here. There’s never been a statement released as to why this small handful of scouts doesn’t have matching chest and skirt bows, but they just don't. Maybe the animators just wanted to keep us all on our toes or something. Regardless, there’s nothing different about these scouts than the others, they just have different bow colors. Seems kind of weird, but hey it is what it is I guess.

Question 20

What's are the names of the three Starlights?

They don’t show up until the later seasons, but the Starlights are an interesting part of the show. They are performers who are men in their normal day life, but women when they transform into their superhuman forms. They work together with the Sailor Scouts although they didn’t always think this was the case when they first met. They are also very powerful, so they have proven to be a great ally to have throughout their friendship with the Scouts.

Question 21

Which group of villains were created by Professor Tomoe?

If there’s one thing to be said about Sailor Moon as a show, it’s that there are a literal ton of bad guys. Seriously, there are so many of them over the years you can’t even begin to remember them all. Not to mention that they are all from their own planets, galaxies, and universes—it’s hard to keep them all straight really. However, there was one group of baddies that was likely home grown. These Earth-dwelling group was as mean as mean could be too.

Question 22

What Crystal does Queen Nehelenia want?

Queen Nehelenia only cared about one thing, staying young and beautiful—that’s it. She loved her looks and youth so much that she actually trapped herself within a mirror to keep herself young and beautiful forever, which might sound crazy to some but was everyday life to her. When she found out she could remain young forever outside of the mirror, of course she wanted in on that ordeal as soon as possible and she didn’t care what destruction fell in her wake.

Question 23

What are the three talisman Sailor Pluto, Sailor Neptune, and Sailor Uranus have?

Because of their pure hearts, Sailor Pluto, Sailor Neptune, and Sailor Uranus were given three talisman to help them with their mission. Each of these talisman were kept with one of the scouts and each had their own respected power that ironically matched their planetary power. These talisman became primary powers they used to fight off bad guys while they were fighting alongside of Sailor Moon and the other Sailor Scouts. Of course they had other powers too just like the other Scouts, but these were proven to be very helpful in times of need.

Question 24

Who was the final bad guy the Scouts had to fight?

Yeah, there were a literal ton of bad guys the Sailor Scouts had to fight, but one surpassed them all when it came to her power. She gave the Sailor Scouts the ultimate run for their money and really gave them the battle of their lives…literally. This fight was almost too much for them and Sailor Moon almost had to go it alone at the end. It was an epic battle to end an epic show, and it was the perfect bad guy to really tie up all the loose ends.

Question 25

Along with items, Sailor Moon is always upgrading her attacks. It seems like everytime you see her, she has a new attack lined up for crying out loud. You just get used to one and she’s already switching off to something else. How does she keep track of them all? Well, her seventh attack was a pretty powerful one, but it also wasn’t her final attack either. Do you remember what this attack that was paired with a scepter was?
