How Many Pokemon Can You Name In 5 Minutes Or Less?

When thinking of some of the biggest video game franchises in history, it's impossible to leave Pokemon out of the discussion. We're not just talking about some sleeper hit that took a while to build a fanbase, or a series that was really hot for a while and has now faded over the years. No, Pokemon was something that hit it big immediately after its first release, and has become a world-famous phenomenon ever since.

Whatever formula Nintendo figured out when they first created the long-lasting series where you create a gang of cute animals, and have them beat the lights out of another cute group of animals until they're too tired to go on, it just seems to work with every new generation of kid that ends up giving it a shot.

Beyond the gameplay however, we think we've figured out what's made this series so enduring and endearing to players around the world, and it's the Pokemon themselves. It's these eclectic group of monsters that caught the public's eye in the first place, and its the promise of more with each new release that keep fans coming back again and again to buy the sequels. With so many Pokemon created overtime, do you think you can name them all?

Question 20

Scary Pokemon need friends too

Pokemon Pinsir

For a lot of people (including Misty), just the fact that Bug-type Pokemon even exist can be disgusting to them. This of course isn't really a fair assessment, since a lot of the little buggers (no pun intended) are actually just as cute as any of the more animal-based creatures. Not so cute after all.

Almost as sleepy as Snorlax

Pokemon Gloom

Slowpoke may be a really derpy-looking Pokemon, but when this Grass/Poison type comes in, it's hard to choose which one looks more silly. Sure, its poison attacks are no joke, but the fact that it has constantly droopy eyes, and a drooling mouth, doesn't do much for its intimidation factor. Question 28

Do you like them?

Pokemon Mudkip

Spicy Chicken

Pokemon Torchic

If you're one of the cynical internet users that doesn't really like Mudkip all that much, then don't fret, you have two other options when it comes to the starter Pokemon available in Ruby and Sapphire. We would make a joke about spicy chicken wings here, but that might come off as a bit tasteless.

A mix between a bird and Robin Hood

Pokemon Decidueye

Old-school fans may have a little trouble with naming this one, as it didn't make its debut until Generation VII. Oh, and you're not alone, we didn't know that plants could have ghosts either.

Question 35

Everything but the boat

When Pokemon first came out, the design on the different monsters was pretty straightforward: little furry animals, plants, and sometimes humanoid creatures, that all had special fighting abilities and elemental powers. As things started getting to the later generations however, things started to get stranger and stranger (a Pokemon made of ice cream for instance). Now here in generation VII we have a Pokemon that is literally just the wheel and anchor of a ship that has been underwater for a very long time.
