How Many Ninja Techniques From Naruto Can You Name?

In the world of Naruto, Techniques are the abilities that a Ninja (or Shinobi) uses during battle to win against an opponent. They are typically split into three categories, namely Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, and Taijutsu. While Ninjutsu involves some kind of elemental attack, Genjutsu focuses on casting illusions to confuse the enemy, while Taijutsu is a physical attack that doesn’t require Chakra (internal energy which circulates throughout the body) to use unlike the other two. But within these three categories lie several sub-categories that would take too long to explain here, but some include Kekkei Genkai which are powers inherited through certain Shinobi families or Clans as they’re called. There is even a fourth category called Senjutsu that allows the user to absorb energy from nature to empower their own Chakra. And let’s not forget Kinjutsu, which is an umbrella term for Techniques that are considered forbidden to use as they either harm the user’s body in some form or go against the laws of nature such as bringing the dead back to life. They all originate from a single Clan known as the Ōtsutsuki who travel between dimensions and other worlds. So if you are familiar with these Techniques, then come take this quiz to test your knowledge!

Question 1

Which Technique did Naruto do a unique variation of?

For twelve years, Naruto Uzumaki’s been the resident troublemaker of Konoha Village with no parents to speak of nor a home. He enjoys causing pranks, such as painting graffiti on the faces of previous village leaders known as Hokages who are carved into the plateau that overlooks Konoha. Naturally, he gets in trouble for it particularly with Iruka who’s his teacher at the Ninja Academy which Naruto attends. Iruka reminds Naruto that his Graduation Test is coming up, making him and the rest of his class perform a Technique which Naruto decides to deliberately mess up.

Question 2

Which Technique was Naruto required to do for his Graduation Test?

After deliberately messing up a Technique in class, Naruto is forced by Iruka to clean up the graffiti he painted. Though Naruto complains about it, Iruka persuades him to continue by promising to treat Naruto to some ramen which is Naruto’s favorite food. Now more motivated, Naruto cleans the graffiti off before sundown and gets taken to a particular ramen stand he likes going to with Iruka. After promising to study, Naruto heads home to prepare himself for the Graduation Test.

Question 3

Which Technique does Kakashi use to avoid Naruto during the Bell Test?

Though he initially failed to pass the Graduation Test, Naruto uses the Technique that was required to save Iruka from Mizuki who tricked Naruto into stealing a scroll that would unleash the Nine-Tailed Fox. To show his gratitude, Iruka allows Naruto to graduate thus making him a Genin (the lowest Ninja rank possible). Along with his former classmates, they’re all divided into three-man Squads led by a higher-ranking Ninja called a Jōnin. He gets paired with his rival Sasuke and love-interest Sakura, and their designated leader is Kakashi Hatake who has them try taking two bells away from him.

Question 4

Which Technique did Sasuke learn before his Clan was killed?

When he was younger, Sasuke Uchiha had a pretty comfortable life. The only problem was that his strict father seemed to pay more attention to his older brother Itachi more than him. For instance, when Sasuke first entered the Ninja Academy his parents were absent during the entrance ceremony as they were attending Itachi’s initiation into the secretive Anbu group (which only the highest-ranked Ninjas can enter) which was occurring on the same day. Then later, Sasuke’s father taught him a Technique that only their Clan know how to do.

Question 5

Which Technique does Kakashi use to immobilize Sasuke?

When Naruto Sasuke and Sakura first meet Kakashi, neither one is impressed with the other. Then after Naruto gets caught in a trap, Sasuke uses this opportunity to attack Kakashi himself.

Among the participants they meet Rock Lee, a Taijutsu user.

Question 8

Which Technique did Sasuke use against Orochimaru when they first met?

While the first challenge in the Chūnin Exam consisted of a written test, the second involved a three-day trek through the Forest of Death. Each Squad had to carry one scroll out of two called the Earth and Air Scrolls. The objective is to gather one of each to move onto the third part, meaning the Squads would have to fight each other for them. Though Squad 7 try to avoid attention, they get attacked by a lone Ninja (who's Orochimaru in disguise) who not only summons a giant snake that swallows Naruto but also attacks Sasuke.

Question 9

Which Technique did Orochimaru use to hinder Naruto's Chakra?

Despite being swallowed, Naruto uses his Multiple Shadow-Clone Jutsu to create enough duplicates of himself to make the snake’s stomach burst open freeing him as a result. Unfortunately, he gets immobilized by Orochimaru who summons more snakes. He then shoves his palm into Naruto’s navel area, which renders Naruto unconscious and tosses him away. Fortunately, Naruto gets caught by Sakura while Sasuke attacks Orochimaru and partially burns his face. So Orochimaru tears his false face off, revealing another one underneath.

Question 10

Which Technique did Orochimaru use on Sasuke?

With his true face revealed, Orochimaru presses his index fingers together. His neck then stretches to incredible lengths till it reaches Sasuke. She tries to hold them off as best she can, until Rock Lee shows up to help her.

Question 11

Which Technique did Kakashi use to repress Sasuke's Curse Mark?

During Sakura’s battle with the Sound Ninja aided by not only Rock Lee but also the members of Squad 10, Sasuke recovers from being bitten by the other Ninja. Despite this setback, though, Ino and her teammates Shikamaru and Chōji work well together as they managed to aid Sakura in defeating the Sound Ninjas in the Forest of Death. Then during the third part of the Chūnin Exam, Ino and Sakura are pitted against each other.

Question 14

Which Technique did Tenten use against Temari during their match?

With Ino and Sakura’s match ending in a tie, meaning neither one will advance to the Semi-Finals of the Chūnin Exam, the next round starts. The two opponents this time are Temari, another one of the Sand Siblings, and the other is Tenten. She’s a member of the same Ninja Squad Rock Lee is apart of, along with Neji Hyūga. Unlike Naruto and some of the other Squads, Tenten and her comrades graduated from the Ninja Academy a year earlier because of their incredible talents.

Question 15

Which Technique did Temari use to win against Tenten?

The Sand Siblings are a given nickname for the children of the Sand Village’s leader known as the Kazekage. They consist of Kankurō, who is the oldest, Temari, the middle child, and Gaara, who’s the youngest. Each of them have their own special abilities, which makes them formidable opponents in battle and not the kind you’d want to cross paths with. This is why Squad 7 were advised to stay away from them during the Forest of Death part of the Chūnin Exam, and this gets proven when they take out an entire Squad of Rain Village Ninjas.

Question 16

Question 17

Which Technique did Kiba use on his dog Akamaru?

With Shikamaru’s victory against Kin out of the way, the next match in the Chūnin Exam is between Naruto and Kiba Inuzuka. He’s a member of Squad 8, alongside Hinata and Shino, which is led by Kurenai Yūhi, one of the few female Jōnin who’s ever present in Konoha Village. This particular Squad specializes in tracking Missions because each member brings a particular talent that while not always useful in battle works well in finding missing persons, animals, or hidden locations. For instance, Kiba has a heightened sense of smell but he also relies on his dog Akamaru.

Question 18

Which Technique do Neji and Hinata use in their battle against one another?

After Naruto unexpectedly wins against Kiba, the following match is between Neji and Hinata Hyūga. Despite being cousins, though, their relationship is strained because of the hierarchy within their Clan. Like many Clans, it’s divided into two Branches. There’s the Main Branch, which consists of the core family, and then the Cadet Branch who’s main task is to protect the former. But several years ago, the heir to the Main Branch Hinata was kidnapped by Cloud Village Ninjas who were killed which could’ve resulted in a war but Neji’s father sacrificed himself by pretending to be the Main Branch’s head.

Question 19

Which Technique does Gaara use the most?

Unlike his older brother and sister, Gaara is not the most mentally stable of the three. This comes from his troubled past, where his mother became the unwilling host of a demon known as Shukaku. However, she died giving birth to Gaara and so Shukaku possessed him instead. As a result, everyone in the Sand Village became afraid of Gaara including his own family. The only one who didn’t seem afraid was his uncle, who was his mother’s brother. But he soon became entangled in an assassination plot, and Gaara was forced to kill his uncle out of self-defense.

She even does it as a cruel form of motivation to get Chōji to take down Dosu Kinuta, the leader of the Sound Village Ninja Squad that attacked Sakura in the Forest of Death.

Question 21

Which Technique does Naruto master before the Semi-Finals?

With the Preliminaries over, the remaining Ninjas participating in the Chūnin Exam are given a month-long period to recover and train for the Semi-Finals. They are also told in advance who they will be fighting against, which is intended to make them be better prepared. In Naruto’s case, he’s assigned to fight Neji whom he wants to fight for Hinata’s sake after she was mercilessly crushed by him and Rock Lee who was crippled by his fight with Gaara. Unfortunately, Kakashi’s busy training Sasuke which leads him to meet Jiraiya, a powerful but perverted old Sage.

Question 22

Which Technique does Sasuke learn from Kakashi?

While Naruto is training with Jiraiya, Sasuke trains with Kakashi to master a particularly difficult Technique. This one isn’t among the various Techniques that are typically taught in the Ninja Academy, nor in the various books and scrolls that are available. Yet despite the great power and fatality this Technique boasts, it takes a lot of Chakra to use and can run out very quickly in a short period of time.

Question 23

Which Technique does Orochimaru use against the Third Hokage?

Midway through the Semi-Finals of the Chūnin Exam, Konoha Village gets invaded by a combination of Sand and Sound Ninja. However, it turns out to all have been planned by the Sound Village’s leader Orochimaru who was the one that gave Sasuke the Heavens’ Curse Mark in the Forest of Death. He killed the Kazekage in secret and pretended to be him in order to convince the Sand Village Ninjas to ally themselves with the Sound Village. This was done to get even with the Third Hokage, who was Orochimaru's former teacher before he was banished for human experimentation.

Question 24

Which Technique does Naruto attempt to master in three days?

As a result of the battle between the Third Hokage and Orochimaru, neither ends up truly the victor. While the Third Hokage does sacrifice himself and dies, Orochimaru’s hands can no longer perform Jutsu as the Third Hokage robbed the parts of his soul which could do that and took them with him to the afterlife. So Orochimaru is forced to retreat along with the other Sand and Sound Ninja. Because of this devastating blow, a new Hokage must be chosen and Jiraiya sets off to find Tsunade, the person he thinks is most suitable, while being accompanied by Naruto.

Question 25

Which Technique does Tsunade resort to during her battle with Orochimaru?

Despite finding Tsunade, Jiraiya and Naruto are given a cold reception by her. She wants nothing to do with Konoha, or the title of Hokage, because she’s lost so many loved ones. This angers Naruto who challenges her to a fight, though he doesn't stand a chance against her. So Tsunade makes a bet with him to pass the time while she contemplates an offer Orochimaru made to her in exchange for healing his arms. But in the end, she refuses his offer and is forced to fight Orochimaru and his assistant Kabuto until Jiraiya and Naruto arrive to help.
