We often display our personal qualities (i.e. our personality) not only through our appearance - the way we dress, the makeup and how much of it we wear, the way we carry ourselves and the way we speak to others - but also in the things that we own, such as our homes and our cars.
Indeed, our homes can tell other people an incredible amount about us and our personalities. Our home is like a small glimpse into our mind. That's because at home we can truly be who we are, without pretence and without showing off.
We design our homes according to our tastes and our personalities. Those that love minimalism will ensure that their homes are clutter free and clean. Those that are creative will no doubt love to clutter their homes with unique and special knick-knacks (to some extent). Those that love luxury will more often than not design their homes in the most luxurious fashion possible, not sparing any expense and opting for features such as billiard rooms, hot tubs and indoor swimming pools (if their budget allows this, of course). Those that like the simple life will ensure that their home is cozy and comfortable, but not at all showy.
Choose a house.
When it comes to choosing a home, everyone is different. Some people want to live in a castle, others would settle for a mansion. Still others desire to one day own a cute cottage whereas some would like to live in a penthouse apartment (just think of the views!)
Doorbell or door-knocker?
It’s important to have either a doorbell or a door-knocker, otherwise there is no way of knowing when someone stops by (unless they knock with their knuckles of course but that it both painful and unnecessary). Doorbells are certainly more convenient for they are louder but door-knockers can look really cool (especially if they come in the shape of a lion, for example).
Choose the size of the garden.
Most houses come with a garden, even if it is a small one. There’s no denying that gardens are very useful and thus it comes as no surprise that most people want to have a garden, however small it may be. Gardens are great for those who love to do a bit of gardening, those who love to chill out in the sun and those who keep pets.
Choose a garden feature.
Some people like to add certain features to their gardens to make them more unique and personalized. Garden features can include things such as fruit and vegetable gardens, fountains, and greenhouses. Of course, some people opt to forego all garden features altogether and simply stick to lawn.
Choose the type of flowers.
Most people with gardens opt to grow flowers. Those with a bit more time on their hands go for challenging flowers such as roses (although experts say that they’re much easier to grow than we all think) whereas those who want no responsibility often opt for hassle-free flowers such as lavender.
Choose a water feature.
There’s no denying that water features add a lot of character to a garden. Water features can include things such as ponds, waterfalls and even rivers but of course they don’t have to be as fancy. The simplest water feature out there is probably sprinklers.
Would there be a guest house?
One of the main advantages of owning a house is the fact that one can invite his or her family or friends to stay over. As such, most people turn one or two bedrooms into guest bedrooms. Others however go even further and design special guest houses.
Choose a kitchen.
Most people will agree that a kitchen is the heart of the home for it is there that all (or most) of the activity takes place. Of course, that is only true in those cases where the inhabitants of the house like to cook!
Choose a living room.
The kitchen might be the heart of a home but that doesn’t mean that the living room is any less important. Indeed, it is in the living room that most of us spend our evenings watching TV, reading, scrolling through the internet, or talking to our friends.
Choose a bedroom.
A bedroom might not be as important as a kitchen or a living room, but it is still important that it represents our personality and suits our needs. After all, most of us spend at least eight hours in our bedrooms every single night.
Shower or bathtub?
When it comes to the bathroom, different people have different preferences. For example, some people love to have a long, relaxing bath on a daily basis. Others on the other hand think that baths are torturous – not to mention wasteful – and thus prefer to have quick, hot showers.
Choose an extension.
An extension is a great way to maximize a property’s space so it comes as no surprise that nowadays more and more people are opting to build an extension onto their house. Choose one of the extensions below – a wine cellar, a library, a conservatory or an attic?

One of the most important things that most people consider when choosing a home is the location. Where the house is located – on a beach, beside the mountains, in a city or in the countryside – can make a huge difference.
Choose a swimming pool.
Not all houses come with swimming pools, but that doesn’t mean that everyone wants one anyways. Those that do want a swimming pool in their homes have quite the choice when it comes to choosing one – should they opt for an indoor swimming pool or an outdoor one? Most people will without doubt agree that the best thing about owning a home is the fact that one can own a pet, whether it’s a dog, a cat or even something less conventional, like a turtle. Still, pets can be rather destructive which means that not everyone will choose to become a pet owner.

The task of decorating a house can seem rather daunting at first. After all, before one does anything he or she has to decide what interior design style will suit the house – and the personality of the person living there – the best.
Choose a wall color.
The color of one’s walls at home can make quite a difference on one’s mood so it comes as no surprise that most people opt for neutral – white or cream – walls. However, others like to go for bright colors and still others are not afraid to paint their walls black or dark blue. On the other hand, those who are more playful often opt for quirky wallpaper.

Nowadays when it comes to kitchen counter tops most people opt for decorative stone – such as marble, granite, quartz, or limestone – instead of wood. Of course, that makes total sense – decorative stone is not only harder to ruin but also looks much sleeker and gives one’s kitchen a cool vibe.

The exterior of the house can often tell us quite a lot about the interior of the house. For example, if the front door is a fun color – such as red or yellow – one can expect a playful interior and home owners that don’t take themselves too seriously.
Carpet or wood?
When it comes to choosing the perfect floor, everyone is different. Some people prefer carpet whereas others opt for wood. Generally, wood is seen as a better choice for it simply looks better and unlike carpet, can be easily cleaned.
Minimalist or cluttered?
Once again, when it comes to the overall style of house décor – minimalist or cluttered – everyone is different. Some people can’t function in cluttered environments and need to have clean surfaces at all times. Others can’t live in sterile-looking places and thrive in slightly-cluttered environments that do wonders for their creativity.
Choose a smart gadget.
Home gadgets – such as smart thermostats (that control the heating or air conditioning of a place), home surveillance, smart lighting and robotic lawn care - can often make our lives that much easier. When it comes to choosing home gadgets today, we are spoiled for choice.
