The NHL has been around a very long time. Established in 1917, the NHL is now over 100 years old, making it older than both the NBA and the NFL. It also boasts one of the oldest trophies in sports: the Stanley Cup, which was actually given out to the world’s best hockey teams in a challenge tournament before the NHL was even a thing.

Needless to say, there have been tons of fantastic hockey players in the NHL over the years, from the Original Six, through the Expansion Era, the Dead Puck Era, and now today.

Despite all the knowledge on the NHL we have on the internet, a good number of arguments usually happens between people of different ages. Hockey has changed so much over the years that it makes sense guys would prefer different types of players with different skill sets based on what time period of the NHL they are most familiar with. It also makes sense that due to nostalgia, people like players that they could watch while growing up as opposed to players that retired before they could watch them live.
