The NHL is home to the finest hockey players in the world, and young kids dream of one day being drafted to their favorite team and heading down the path to unseat Wayne Gretzky as the greatest hockey player who ever lived. As it stands now, no player has been able to do this, and it is not for a lack of trying. Gretzky was simply on another level, and we may never see anything like him on the ice ever again. Despite their being a lack of a proper conqueror to Gretzky's legacy, the modern landscape of the NHL is ripe with some of the best talent that the sport has ever seen.

These modern player possess the size and the speed to dominate their opponents, making for some incredible hockey for fans to watch. Each season comes down to the wire, and your team, despite having a solid year, is not guaranteed to be immortalized by taking home the Stanley Cup. It is an honor of the highest order to bring this trophy home, and those of us who have never seen our favorite franchise pull this off can only hope and dream of it happening.
