American Horror Story, at its core, is a horror story. All the elements of a great horror movie are cunningly woven into the storylines - everything from haunted houses, witches, mental hospitals, demon possessions, freak shows, haunted hotels, serial killers, cults, the list goes on and on. The creators took these horror themes and gave them an update, added colorful characters, a little romance, and splashes of gothic imagery and the result was the American Horror Story: the show that has kept us intrigued since 2011.
In the world of AHS, it seems that everything the characters fear always happens to them, and the creators of AHS seem to be able to tap into our darkest fears and bring them to life. This might explain why the show continues to gain fans and why it's been renewed for both an 8th and 9th season. The bad news is that the 8th season is still several months away so in the meantime you'll just have to occupy yourself with AHS quizzes instead!

Kathy Bates is an award-winning actress who portrays Madame Delphine LaLaurie in Coven, Ethel Darling in Freak Show, Iris in Hotel, and the hostile tribe leader "The Butcher" in Roanoke, along with Agnes Mary Winstead, the in-universe actress who portrayed The Butcher in "My Roanoke Nightmare".
Who would you give the "Best Ghost" award to?
In the AHS universe, a ghost is only able to pass on to the next life, once they have overcome their issues on Earth. Ghosts on the show are often bound to the places they died at, and as you can imagine, this can make them angry.
