Whether someone likes a cold weather getaway or a beachy vacation, every location has something special to offer. It could be the drinks, it could be the cuisine, it could be the culture or even the hype about the city itself. Whatever the reason may be, there is a location on our globe that draws everyone in, and some are more well known than others.
How well does everyone know the cities of the world? There are two types of people, those who like a lot of the well-traveled areas around the world, and those who say they are overrated or not worth their time. There are those who like to go out on a traveling adventure, and those who would rather stay at home doing something else. Some of the best locations can be far away or even close by. Los Angeles
As we all know, Los Angeles is Tinsel Town! Home of the movie stars, film producers, musical artists, and just plain regular artists too. Everyone seems to have a talent in Los Angeles, heck, even celebrity chefs flock here. There is something for everyone to do, and it never gets boring.
Paris
Oh Paris, the City of Lights! It is so beautiful all year round. It is hard to pick a time to visit it. There is also so much to do in this awesome city. There are sights to see, food to taste, romances to find. it is a wonderful spot to go and just get lost in. Who wouldn't want to go here?
Sydney
Sydney is a modern city with a lot of offer. Everyone knowns about its famous opera house. Australia is known for its outback and wilderness, but Sydney puts a whole different spin on Australia as it is very fashion forward and trendy. A lot of musical artists and models come from here.
London
What isn't London known for? It has the monarchy, the beginning of punk rock, a great theater scene, and even the food scene has greatly stepped up its game in recent years. London is a spot that everyone should see because it is iconic. There are so many sights to go to that it's hard to see them in one trip.
Berlin
Berlin can be a tough town to some. It was split right down the middle up until the '80s when the Berlin Wall came crashing down and the town became unified under one flag. Now there are many World War II reminders around the city as the city pays homage to what happened.
Johannesburg
Johannesburg, South Africa might not be a place you would jump to because you might not think it is safe to travel to. There are always conflicts between the black and white communities, but, for the most part, tourists are very welcomed into the city. It is also very beautiful and boasts many outdoor activities.
Toronto
Many Americans think Toronto is just an extension of the U.S. if they haven't been there before, but no, it is indeed Canada. Although it is only a hop, skip, and a jump away from the U.S.A. it still is not within the borders. This town is really into their hockey, so if you visit, be sure to catch a game.
Mumbai
Many people think of India as a not so rich country, but Mumbai is very culturally rich. There are so many things to see that are different in Mumbai than there are in the U.S. or in Canada. Also, the food in India might not come off as user friendly, but once you give it a taste, you will be sure to fall in love.
Munich
When you think of Munich you must think of the famous Oktoberfest that happens every September through October. This is the time when many tourists from around the world gather to drink beer, eat a ton of meat, and drunkenly sing a bunch of songs about...drinking. It's a ton of fun.
Madrid
The beautiful country of Spain. The food in this country is to die for, but you must make sure to try the paella—that is the food from the gods. There are many open air markets and the weather is just perfect in this city. you'll never want to be indoors. Also, make sure to catch a soccer game.
Dublin
Speaking of beer, have you ever been to Dublin before? This city is basically made of beer. There are a ton of really old bars, called The Temple Bars that every tourist has to go to when they visit this friendly town. Also, every citizen here is basically the nicest person on the planet too.
Miami
Miami is known for its drinks and it is known for its dancing, which is no surprise because it has so many Cuban immigrants. If you don't know how to dance Salsa or the Tango before coming to Miami you definitely will lear a few moves while you are here because everyone is rocking out.
Prague
Back in the day, Prague was part of a larger nation called Yugoslavia. Now it is the capital of the Czech Republic, and boy is it ever beautiful. You can get lost wondering the many streets of this city. there are things to see like gothic cathedrals and a ton of museums with ancient artifacts.
Vienna
Vienna is known for its sweet concoctions like cakes and truffles, but it also has a culinary underbelly that is pretty awesome too. Many people from Vienna are very proud of their food and have been in the industry for many generations, so it is important you really focus on food during this trip.
Shanghai
Okay, maybe it is really crowded and kind of dirty, but it is basically the epicenter of China. Where else can you find the history and the future of China all rolled up into one? There are a lot of really great things to do, a lot of really great places to eat, and a lot of memorable things you have to see.
Rome
Like many great cities, it is about the food here too. The pasta is always handmade and the seafood is some of the best, but the really great stuff you have to catch is the sights. Seeing the Ancient City and the Colosseum is such a trip because it is all so old! it is something to remember.
Taipei
Taiwan and China have always struggled with each other. Taiwan has always wanted to be independent, but China insists that they just can't do it. Many people think that Taiwan and China are one and the same, but there are many different flavors to Taiwan than there are in China.
Osaka
If you like old school traditions with new school flair, then Osaka is the city for you. This city has old temples in the middle of it as well as older eateries right in the center of a bustling city. It is pretty cool to see these two sides of Japanese life come together so flawlessly.
Milan
Milan is arguably the fashion capital of the world, right next to New York City that is. The cool thing about this city is that so many designers from now and from earlier years have come from here. There is such a rich history in fashion that starts right in Milan. Don't forget to sample the Northern Italian food either.
Amsterdam
Amsterdam is known for being a pretty progressive city. They were one of the first places, if not the very first place, to legalize marijuana. not to mention their Red Light District is infamous. Many travelers come to Amsterdam also for the boat rides and the quaint cafes too.
Barcelona
Barcelona is known for their soccer and their architecture. They have some pretty interesting buildings around their city. they even have tours that show off these various buildings and parks. Be sure to check out their markets for fresh ingredients and have a picnic in the sunshine.
Istanbul
Istanbul is a grand city in Turkey that has gorgeous buildings and mosques around their city. Be sure to try their kebabs because this is the street food they are known for. In fact, this food has traveled all over Europe as many's fast food of choice because it is so delicious.
Hong Kong
Hong Kong is a huge city that is easy to get lost in just like Los Angeles is in America. There are so many people roaming about at all times of the day that is is surprising that this hasn't been dubbed The City that Never Sleeps. Of course there is amazing food to try and sights to see.
Seoul
Unlike their neighbors to the North, South Korea is really friendly and welcoming. They have a quirky country that is fun loving and always has something to do—Seoul is no exception. Whether you want to have a karaoke night or see a drag queen show, they have it all.
Tokyo
Tokyo is the very center of Japan, and anyone that says differently is a liar. They have it all, from the temples to the celebrity chefs. Everything they do brings you to the Japanese experience you are looking for as a traveler, and if it is your first time being in Japan this is the perfect place to start.
Singapore
What's great about Singapore is that it is a cultural melting pot. People from all around the world spanning from America, China, and India come to live here and they do so in harmony. This island country really thrives on tourism, so they love when you come in and treat you like a king.
Dubai
It has been said that Dubai is the new United Arab Emirates. They are so forward thinking when it comes to their technology and their architecture. However, if you are a woman traveling here, you must be sure to follow a certain dress code because it can get ugly if you don't.
Bangkok
Bangkok has a bit of a wild reputation behind it. There are men that dress like women and will go home with you, but you won't know it until they disclose it! How insane is that? However, the food is to die for and the beaches are just beautiful. You want to be out in the sun during this trip.
Reykjavik
I know what you are asking. Where the heck is Reykjavik? It is actually the capital of Iceland, which is one of the most beautiful countries in the entire world. The people are also some of the most friendly in the world as well. Make sure you drop by the warm mineral bathes while you are there; so worth it.
Florence
If Rome is the heart of Italy, then Florence is its brain because this is where inventors like Leonardo Di Vinci came from. You can check out tons of museums and galleries featuring his journals, inventions, and art all around the city. You will also see a ton of spectacular views as well.
Moscow
Okay, Putin might be a rough character to handle, but the city is beautiful. There are tons of gorgeous buildings to see, and the drinks (namely the vodka) are really delicious. Make sure to drop by a mom and pop owned cafeteria while you are there; that is the type of eating place Russia is known for.
Rio de Janeiro
You would be right if you said the summer Olympics were just recently held there. Many people think there is a ton of crime that happens involving tourists, but in all honesty, if you keep an eye on your belongings and try to fit into the crowd it really is not all that bad. Make sure to hit the beaches!
Juneau
Junaeu is fun because it is the wild and untamed outdoors. You can go hiking, kayaking, or even ride a train that will take you through the wilderness. You really can take part in any activity that involves the outdoors. It also makes you feel like you have gotten away from the hustles and bustles of city life.
Chicago
Chicago has a little bit of everything that Los Angeles and New York City has, except their pizza style is different. Very different. They make their pizza in a way that is almost like a casserole as it is in a very deep dish pan. It is a must try when you are in Chicago. Also, catch a Cubs game.
Cabo San Lucas
Known as simply "Cabo" to many people, this Mexican beach city is a paradise for those looking for some surf and sand. Grab a margarita and head to the beach. Don't forget to try their awesome seafood dishes because that is what it is all about in Cabo, surf, sand, drinks, and relaxation.
Las Vegas
Las Vegas, or Sin City, as many people know it by is pretty much a playground for adults. It was like in Pinocchio when he went to Pleasure Island and got himself into a bunch of trouble—that is pretty much what Vegas is to many people. it is all about gambling, drinking, eating, and clubbing.
Morocco
Morocco is known for its markets. Anyone can go to the market places and have a great time buying exotic shoes, spices, or anything really. This is also an Islam nation that is somewhat more liberal so you don't have to be as uptight about the rules, but there are some you have to follow.
Athens
Like Rome, Athens is known for its Ancient City. There are ruins all over the city reminding the people of where they came from. It is pretty cool, and you are missing out if you don't get on a tour to check them out. Also, make sure to try the freshly caught seafood. It is divine.
Ibiza
Ibiza is pretty much the European equivalent to Las Vegas. Europeans come here to party on the regular and it really never shuts down. There are clubs and parties going on all over the island, and you can find the best drinks and restaurants all over the place. It's a party trip.
Vilnius
Where is Vilnius? Well, in the Baltic State of Lithuania lies the wonderful, Medieval looking city of Vilnius, which also happens to be the capital of the country. This humble city also has some of the best beer and bar food around, so if you are looking for a good brew, this is the place to visit.
