Star Wars is a great franchise, and plenty of us know all about it. Not only have there been tons of different movies, but there have also been video games, TV series, comic books, novels, and much more. It's one of the most extensive universes out there, and there have been quite a few stories told within this amazing world. But what makes a story unforgettable? The characters, of course! There are quite a few amazing characters in the Star Wars universe, and fans each have their own personal favorites. But each and every character in the Star Wars universe impacts the story in some way, and true fans don't forget a single one.
Even someone as knowledgeable as Yoda couldn't name all of these Star Wars characters. Sure, there are a few easy ones that everyone knows about. But what about those weird aliens no one seems to know? Or what about those random Jedi warriors who are just sort of sitting around in the Jedi Council, without saying a single word? This Jedi
Everyone knows who this Jedi is. He's one of the main characters that has been around for most of the movies, and we've seen him transform from a young padawan into one of the greatest masters the galaxy has ever seen. He's truly strong with the force, but his greatest strength is his wisdom and honor. He always knows the right decision to make. He's been in some pretty sticky situations before in his life, but he's always managed to pull through.
This Master
Probably the best Jedi we've ever seen, this little green warrior is always a fan favorite - whichever movie he pops up in. This amazing individual is incredibly strong with the force, and has been around for hundreds of years by the time we're introduced to him. He survived the darkest hour of the Jedi, and eventually trained some of the newest recruits to the Jedi order. After all this time, he still had some important wisdom to share with the world.
This Villain
Not only is he one of the most important villains in the Star Wars universe, but he's also arguably the main character - at least for the first six movies. His tale is a dark and sad one, and it's one that defines the tone of the entire series. We later find out that this character was once a Jedi, but was tempted by the dark side. Even in his massively crippled cybernetic form, he's still an crazily powerful warrior.
This Space Smuggler
The Jedi sometimes get all the attention in the Star Wars series, but there are some notable exceptions. This character is one of the all-time fan favorites of the series, and for good reason. He's definitely an entertaining character, and he brings comedy and life to the sometimes cold confines of space. This character was played by Harrison Ford, and it proved to be a defining role for the actor. He doesn't carry a lightsaber, but prefers his trusty blaster.
This Famous Jedi
Here's another Jedi that pretty much everyone knows these days. He was one of the last ones to study under the teachings of Master Yoda and Master Kenobi. This amazing hero certainly proved himself worthy of the Jedi Order, and helped defeat one of the most dangerous villains in the entire galaxy. He's had his ups and downs, and most recently appeared in the Disney reboot of the series. Many people love this character, and he's definitely one of the most important characters.
This Awesome Character
There are many alien characters in the Star Wars series, but this one has to be one of the most famous. Not only that, but he's also probably the most popular. We might not understand a word that he says, but everyone else seems to. He's a great sidekick and a trusty warrior with a blaster in his hands. He also towers over most other characters, making him great for intimidation purposes as well. He really is a great character.
This Helpful Droid
Droids also make up a big part of the Star Wars universe. And when it comes to droids, there aren't many better than this one. This little droid is always very helpful, serving on ships or zipping along next to our heroes on the ground. He helps get doors open, jam enemy electronics, and all kinds of other things. He also has a pretty unique and interesting personality, which is a common theme among droids in the Star Wars universe.
This Amazing Character
Over the years, we've seen this character go through quite a journey. When we were first introduced to her, she was a "damsel in distress" who desperately needed help from Obi-Wan. But as time went by, we began to realize that this character was more than capable of handling herself. She comes from royalty, but she is very comfortable with a blaster in her hand. She also comes from a very famous family which is very strong with the force.
This Interesting Character
Real fans of the series will know that technically, we already mentioned this character once before. But in many ways, this is a completely different person. We got to know this character when he was still very young. As a young boy on Tatooine, he took part in podracing so that he could find a way to get him and his mother off the planet. In the end, he became one of the most exciting Jedi knights the world had ever seen.
This Bounty Hunter
Bounty Hunters are also pretty common in the world of Star Wars. But when it comes to Bounty Hunters, there's one which stands head and shoulders above the crowd. This amazing mercenary has proved himself more than capable many times, and he's even taken on Jedi in the past. Armed with a huge variety of technology, this bounty hunter can take down pretty much any enemy. But at the end of the day, he's a very skilled guy with a blaster in each hand.
This Amazing Warrior
When fans saw this Sith, they were blown away. We'd heard tales about ancient Sith warriors before in the past, but we'd rarely seen one so talented. In the past, we were used to seeing Sith as old or crippled warriors. But this one was fluid, fast, and amazingly agile. His trademark was his double-ended lightsaber, which proved enough to take on two Jedi at once. Eventually, this character was put down by a strong Jedi warrior, but not before he became a fan favorite.
This Epic Villain
Fans will undoubtedly be aware that this is the granddaddy of all Star Wars villains. This man fooled an entire empire, pretending to be a mere old man when really he was plotting the takeover of the entire galaxy. In the end, it was revealed that he was the Sith Lord behind every ploy in the entire galaxy, including the Separatists. It was all just a ploy for him to gain control, and ultimately end the Jedi Order.
This Protocol Droid
This droid provided one of the most iconic voices in the Star Wars series. He might not be well-suited to combat, but definitely provides a lot of comic relief. He's also familiar with tons of different languages, which makes him pretty useful in certain situations. The character was actually built by Anakin Skywalker a long time ago. He is characterized by his gold plating and his proper, polite manner of speaking. He's definitely one of the most recognizable characters in the Star Wars series.
This Jedi Knight
He didn't stick around for very long, but he definitely made a great impression when he appeared. This Jedi Knight was the main "leader" in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. He was the one who actually found Anakin Skywalker, and realized the incredible potential that the boy had. Although he didn't get to fulfill his wish of training the boy, his actions brought him to the Jedi Temple, where he was eventually accepted. He was a great Jedi.
This Cool Character
You'd find it hard to locate a cooler character in the entire Galaxy. This amazing guy is the leader of Cloud City, and an old friend of Han Solo. In fact, this guy was the original owner of the famous ship, the Millennium Falcon. He lost it to Han Solo on a bet - which was "fair and square" apparently. This character has an interesting arc, and he betrays our heroes at one point. But afterwards, he manages to redeem himself.
This Masterful Jedi
Here's another Jedi that our readers might be familiar with. For many of the films, this Jedi is seen merely sitting at council meetings at the Jedi Temple. He seems to be fulfilling a mostly administrative role. It isn't until some time later that we see this Jedi in action. It then becomes clear that this man is more than capable with a lightsaber in his hands. In fact, this Jedi would have defeated Sidious, if it weren't for certain circumstances...
This Prestigious Character
In many ways the prequels mirror the first films. Instead of Princess Leia, we get another regal female character in the form of this woman. At first, we're not even sure who she is, as she uses body doubles in an ingenious way. But eventually, we learn that this complex character is actually very down to Earth, and she's capable of holding her own in battle - just like Leia. She also falls in love with a famous Jedi warrior.
This Fan Favorite
This character might not have appeared in many scenes, but fans seemed to love him. It's no wonder why. There's a lot to love! The fact that he looks like a goldfish in a space suit is especially endearing. But what makes him truly stand out is his iconic line: "It's a trap!" The delivery is just spot on, and it's one of the most often repeated lines in Star Wars history. This character definitely deserves a lot of praise.
This Mysterious Character
This is another character that really grabbed people's attention, even though they never really appeared in that many scenes. Once again, it was the character's appearance that really caught our eye. At first glance, this character appears like any other storm trooper. But when we look closer, we see that their armor is a beautiful polished chrome. This character seems to be in a strong leadership role within the empire, and we learn much more about her as time goes on.
This Space Gangster
The world of Star Wars is actually pretty well-developed, and a lot of thought went into creating this galaxy. It only makes sense that in an empire so vast, there's a few pockets of crime here and there. But perhaps the most famous crime family in the entire galaxy is a group of large, slug-like creatures who command large armies of criminals. On many occasions, our heroes are confronted or even captured by one of these gross creatures in particular.
This Troublesome Enemy
He might not be a Jedi, but he can swing a lightsaber. This famous separatist leader proved himself to be quite troublesome, and go the better of many Jedi over the course of his life. That's exactly how he started to collect so many lightsabers. And due to his many limbs, he was able to wield his entire collection all at the same time. Eventually, this leader fell to one of the best Jedi out there. But not before he had caused a lot of harm.
This Hero
This is definitely one of the most clear cut heroes we've ever seen in the world of Star Wars. She's probably the best hope for the Jedi order right now, and she seems to have miraculously learned most of the Jedi skills, even when she wasn't being taught by anyone. Quite a feat. She seems to instinctively know how to duel with a lightsaber, and she continues to show her talents in the newer Disney reboots of the Star Wars series.
This Well-Known Villain
In the first few movies, there were quite a few villains. Yes, there were the familiar faces of Vader and Sidious, but there were also the many officers and high-ranking officials within the Imperial Military itself. One of the most well-known commanders was this man. He was incredibly intelligent, and formed a good team with Vader. The two seemed to have an almost friendly relationship, and complemented each other well. This leader was firm, but he knew how to get the job done.
This Awesome Character
The history of Bounty Hunters go way back in history. Even before the Clone Wars, there were tons of mercenaries and soldiers of fortune roaming the galaxy. One of the best ever actually signed up for a secret program to create an entire army of clone warriors. These clones were to be exact copies of this particular Bounty Hunter. It proved to be a great choice, because this guy could definitely handle himself in a scrap. Eventually, he met his end.
This Villain
In the prequels, there were all kinds of villains roaming around. Of course, true fans will know that according to the rules of the Sith, there are only supposed to be two Sith at any one time. There is a master, and there is a servant. But at one point, there seemed to be quite a few. This character was one of the Sith, but he had his own Padawan in General Grievous. Eventually, this character met his end at the hands of one who would later become a Sith himself.
This Awesome Character
This character didn't actually appear in any of the movies. She was one of the main characters in a series called "Star Wars: The Clone Wars." This character proved to be quite interesting, and she was actually the Padawan of Anakin Skywalker at one point. She was definitely a wild Jedi, and had trouble following orders at certain points (just like her master). Eventually, she left the Jedi order for good. She was instrumental in the Clone Wars, and fought in many battle.
This Conflicted Character
Is he really bad? Or is there still some good left in him? We'll soon find out when the newest Star Wars movie comes out. So far, we've learned that this character is actually a pretty conflicted guy. He seems to be completely taken by the dark side, although the Sith no longer exist. He is characterized by his unique lightsaber, which is unstable and has a two smaller blades projecting from the hilt. He's a very dangerous warrior to deal with.
This Cute Droid
Some of the newer Star Wars movies have been filled with all kinds of cute and interesting little creatures and droids. The porgs made a big appearance in some of the most recent movies, but the show was stolen by a little droid with an interesting name. Considered by many to be a replacement for R2-D2, this droid is helpful and cute at the same time. And guess what? We can even buy our very own BB-8 toys! What a score!
This Amazing Pilot
A huge part of Star Wars has always been about space ships, and the intense space battles that happen between massive fleets of ships. The smaller fighter ships are always the most interesting, as these nimble craft have the power to weave and thread between the action, hitting huge warships where it hurts. One of the best pilots we've seen in a long time is a relatively new addition to the series, and he's a pilot that can be a little hot-headed at times.
This Interesting Character
Rarely do we actually get to see inside the world of the Empire. The Storm Troopers seem to be in a world of their own, and it's tough to see behind those iconic masks. But that all changed when we got to know this character a little better. He was a guy who actually showed remorse and regret for the actions of the Imperium, and he later decided to switch sides, joining the Alliance. He proved to be a very interesting character
This Integral Character
He might not have appeared in many scenes, but this character proved to be quite integral to the overall plot of the entire series. When we meet him, he's in a position of authority when it comes to the administrative functioning of the galaxy. But he quickly proves that he's a capable ally to the Alliance. As Order 66 comes into reality, he is forced to flee. But he takes with him a young Leia, to raise as his own.
This Iconic Character
Sure, he didn't exactly live very long. And he probably should have thought twice about getting on Han Solo's nerves. But that doesn't change the fact that fans loved him, and haven't really forgotten about him. Since his appearance in the movies, this character has been included in all kinds of media, from cartoons to comic books and much more. He is also at the center of a long debate about who fired first - Han Solo or this guy...
This Interesting Hero
This is another character who didn't get to appear in more than one movie, although she definitely made a strong impression in the movie she DID appear in. She is the daughter of a very interesting and skilled man. This man actually designed the base of the Empire. He didn't want to, however, and tried to escape the Empire. His daughter eventually joined up with the Alliance, and started to find out the true story about what happened to her father. She's a great character.
This Dangerous Droid
This Droid would be a very dangerous enemy to face... Luckily, he's actually on the side of the good guys! He might look like an Imperial Droid, but in reality he's been reprogrammed to serve only the Alliance. Funnily enough, something strange happened with his programming... In the end, this droid become very sarcastic and funny for some reason. He was a fan favorite from the movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. But like pretty much all of the characters in that movie, he didn't make it...
This Legendary Engineer
Remember how everyone made fun of the fact that the huge, moon-shaped Imperial weapon had a glaring and obvious problem with it? It was was pretty funny (and unlikely) to think that this giant, sophisticated base had something that would destabilize the entire structure if it was compromised with just one torpedo. But with this particular character, this problem was actually explained! Yes, this character actually purposely designed it to have these flaws. It was a great addition to the Star Wars world.
This Villain
Sometimes, a villain doesn't need to have the ability to shoot lightning out of his arms and choke people with his mind. Sometimes, a villain who can simply be the bad guy is enough. That was the case with this particular villain, who appeared in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. His viciousness and villainy was enough to make us really dislike him when the movie was over. Luckily, he got what was coming to him by the end of the movie.
This Memorable Character
We know, we know. He wasn't the most popular character. But we can't deny that he was definitely one of the most memorable. There are those who say that he should have never been included. But the truth is that Star Wars has had characters like this from the very beginning. Wacky, weird aliens are a notable characteristic of the series, and Jar Jar is actually just one of many. This character brought a lot of comedic relief to the movies.
This Cool Villain
This villain appeared with the newer Disney reboots of the series, and he was always a very mysterious character. It was clear that he was calling the shots, but we never really found out what he was all about. Maybe we'll learn more about him as time goes on, and we get some useful flashbacks. He was the one who started to influence people like Kylo Ren. Was he a Sith? Was he a Jedi? Maybe we'll never actually know.

Some of the best Star Wars stories have come not from the movies, but from the video games. Over the years, there have been quite a few interesting video games, and they just seem to be getting better and better. One of the most memorable was Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. In this game, players take control of this character, who is actually the secret padawan of Darth Vader himself. We learn all kinds of amazing powers, and there is a great story too.

As many fans know, Tatooine is a place filled with all kinds of unsavory characters. It's hard to walk even five feet without bumping into someone who is a known criminal, or unintentionally offending a fugitive on the run. When we returned to Tatooine in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, we met many more of these characters. But one character stood out - a Podracer who seemed to be unbeatable on the race track. That is, until Anakin showed him how it's done...
This Amazing Jedi
He might not get a lot of attention in the movies, but make no mistake, this was a legendary Jedi Master. He was always at the front of the battle, and he was known as being a master swordsman. He also served on the Jedi council, where his wise words were always well respected. A personal friend to people like Mace Windu and Master Yoda, this Jedi fought until the bitter end. Eventually, he was put down by Darth Sidious.
This Leader
This is another slightly minor character, and she definitely didn't have that much screen time. But she still managed to become one of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars universe. It was she who initially laid out the weaknesses of the Empire's villainous base. She also reminded us all that many people had sacrificed everything to give us this information. We don't often get to see the Alliance's leaders like this one, but this character was definitely one of the best.
Another Awesome Jedi
Here's another Jedi warrior that some fans might be familiar with. Sure, he's not the most well-known Jedi in the world, but he's definitely one worth mentioning. This Jedi is known for many things, although he didn't get that much screen time in the movies. Still, we learned a lot about him during the episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. This Jedi was eventually betrayed when Order 66 was enacted, but not before he made a name for himself as a great Jedi.
Another Cool Jedi Warrior
This has to be one of the coolest Jedi warriors ever. This amazing Jedi didn't get that much screen time in the movies, but he did get a few lines. Many of us were curious and wanted to learn more about this particular Jedi. It was clear that this Jedi served on the Council, and his wise words were well-respected by the other masters. He proved himself to be a valuable asset on the battlefield as well... Until he was betrayed by Storm Troopers.
This Dangerous Bounty Hunter
Here's another pretty minor character that only true fans will be able to recognize and name. Like many of the more sinister characters in the galaxy, he was a bounty hunter tasked with hunting down some of the best heroes who opposed the Imperium. We never really learned too much about him - aside from his name of course. In the expanded universe, we got to know him a bit better. And for the REAL fans out there, the action figures were some of the most valuable.
This Awesome Addition
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story included some truly amazing characters. It was definitely unfortunate that almost every single one of those characters never made it off the surface of the planet which was their final battle. One of the best characters in that movie was this character. He was blind, but he seemed to be guided by the force alone. Somehow, he was able to enjoy combat just as much as any other warrior. He probably would have been a Jedi, if the order still existed.
This Determined Character
Here's another character who was an amazing addition to the story of Rogue One. This character seemed to be a grizzled veteran, and he definitely could handle himself in a battle. He was armed with a seriously strong blaster, and he complimented the skills of Chirrut quite well. We all know that this guy didn't make it, but at least he went down fighting until the bitter end. He is a character that will definitely be remembered by fans of the series.
This Cool Character
Here's another interesting character from the movie Rogue One. This character showed us an interesting side of the Alliance's military organizational structure. This character was actually an intelligence officer, which means that he was essentially a spy. Considered one of the Alliance's most stealthy and accomplished warriors, this character was sent in to where the combat was the thickest. He certainly proved himself during the events of Rogue One, and plenty of fans really enjoyed his performance in the film.
This Weird Character
Star Wars is filled with all kinds of strange alien characters. Perhaps this was a little bit more extenuated with the older films. These movies seemed to be filled with all kinds of random puppets. Some were forgettable, but this character in particular won a place in all of our hearts. He's a giant blue elephant, and for some reason he can play the piano. Go figure. He became a fan favorite after many years, and he's actually one of the most famous Star Wars aliens.
This Familiar Face
This face might be familiar to some fans. He only appears for a little while in the very first Star Wars film, but he definitely makes an impression. He is the caregiver of Luke Skywalker, and this early father figure clearly wants Luke to stay and help with the farm. He clearly cares about the boy. Soon afterwards, the moisture farmer unfortunately falls to the Empire along with his wife. It's not long after that until Luke starts his very first adventure.
