Even The Biggest FRIENDS Fans Won't Know These Famous Lines

Friends is one of the best sitcoms of all time, and for the rest of time (much like the lauded Seinfeld) it will no doubt be used as a measuring stick for the quality of new television comedies. Shows like How I Met Your Mother and The Big Bang Theory have been compared to Friends countless times, and both of these shows wear this influence on their sleeves. And the best part of Friends (and any sitcom for that matter) is, of course, the characters and their famous quotes. And Friends has hundreds of incredible quotes throughout its runtime, and surprisingly, all of the best quotes come from each and every main character, there isn't just one that stands out.

It's rare for a show to dole out the lines so evenly amongst the stars, but Friends always managed to give every character their time in the spotlight. And it won't be a surprise to any true Friends fan to find out that this quiz will be filled with idiotic lines from Joey, self-deprecating humor from Chandler, and silver-spoon filled rants from Rachel. But see how well you know one of America's greatest sitcoms, because only real Friends fanatics will know who said each and every line on this quiz.

Question 1

Who Said, “Welcome To The Real World. It Sucks. You’re Gonna Love It.”?

Always the realist of the group, this character is particularly beloved because of her straightforward and (often calm) demeanor. Unlike the rest of the gang she frequently spends time with, she tends to think through her situation, and makes (again, generally) calm and rational decisions. And when her friend finds out that she’s been financially cut off from her parents, she quickly realizes that the real world isn’t too simple. And as her best friend, it’s her job to rip the Band-Aid off as quickly as possible.

Question 2

Who Asked The Question, “How Long Do Cats Live? Like Assuming You Don’t Throw ‘Em Under A Bus Or Something?”?

This character wouldn’t be described as the most responsible of the bunch. Of course after her parents cut her off from her endless stream of money, she was thrown to the wolves (metaphorically) and had to learn to support herself. When she comes into the care of a crazily creepy hairless cat, she has to find out how to care for something besides herself, and needless to say, it doesn’t come naturally to her, leaving her wondering how long she will have to care for it.

Question 3

Who Stated, “Sure I Peed On Her. And If I Had To, I’d Pee On Any One Of You!”?

The strangest and most dim-witted of the group, this particular individual finds his enjoyment in life, not out of intellectual pursuits, but out of the simpler things. And when he’s not wooing all of the women in New York with his insane pick-up attempts, he’s usually infuriating his own friends with his antics and incoherent rambling. And he’s certainly the only character in the show that would threaten to pee on someone as an actual punishment for making him angry.

Question 4

Who Said, “Here Come The Meat Sweats.”?

Not only is this idiotic character our hero for continually being himself, despite the amount of people telling him to change, but he’s also our hero because of his unwavering love for all things edible. He loves food almost as much as he loves himself, and that love is almost doubled on the holiday that celebrated all things food, Thanksgiving. In this episode of the beloved series, he eats himself (nearly) into a food coma, and he ends up sweating profusely from the sheer number of carbs he consumed.

Question 5

Who Said, “All Right, Kids, I Gotta Get To Work. If I Don’t Input Those Numbers… It Doesn’t Make Much Of A Difference.”?

Without a doubt, this guy is one of the best sitcom characters of all time, and his dry and self-deprecating humor has solidified him as a standout Friends star. And this line is actually uttered in the pilot episode of the series, which is one of the best sitcom pilots of all time. And this particular line really emphasizes his self-deprecating humor that would define his character for years. And when this character says this line, it gets Rachel thinking about how she needs to find a job and support herself.

Question 6

Who Said, “Come on Ross, you’re a paleontologist, dig a little deeper.”?

This is the kind of witty and aware line that could only be uttered by one character on the show. All of her quotes seem to be so incredibly sharp, that it’s hard to believe that anyone could actually think of these on the spot. But the show did a great job of showing this character thinking on her feet in countless scenarios, and her shortcomings always seem to come up at the most inopportune times, but the optimist in her keeps her from getting too down on herself.

Question 7

Who Stated, “It’s A Moo Point. It’s Like A Cow’s Opinion; It Doesn’t Matter. It’s Moo.”?

This character is able to say a ridiculous line like this and have the audience believe it, which is a truly remarkable feat for the writing staff. And for most people, they would be able to work out in their head that the common expression is that it’s a “moot point,” and that people are not talking about cows in relation to an invalid point or suggestion. But this character doesn’t tend to think before he speaks, so of course, he manages to say some truly stupid stuff, like this particular line.

Question 8

Who Said, “You Could Not Be Any More Wrong. You Could Try, But You Would Not Be Successful.”?

This character is always quick to be both blunt and obvious, but sometimes that’s exactly what the situation demands. The most responsible and quiet of the group, this character could even be called the lead of the program. And he’s always the one to put the group to sleep with his rants and rational thinking, but he’s actually just the most sane individual in the entire group of friends. And stating that another friend is wrong and that he’s absolutely right fits right into his character.

Question 9

Who Asked, “Why Do You Have To Break Up With Her? Be A Man. Just Stop Calling.”?

This is a particularly easy question, mainly because there’s only one character in the series that would be this blunt and absent-minded about how to treat women. To actually think that the best way to break off an important relationship is to just “stop calling” is of course, not very nice, but also immature. And with this character's hilarious attempts to woo, possibly, every single woman in New York City, this line does actually make sense for him, I mean, how else would he move on to the next woman, if not by simply, just not calling the other ones?

Question 10

Who Asked, “I’m Not So Good With The Advice. Can I Interest You In A Sarcastic Comment?”?

Of course anyone who’s frequently watched Friends knows that this comment is actually pretty accurate. This character is certainly not the first person anyone is going to go to for advice, but he’s always prepared to dish out a sarcastic comment or two. This is at a particularly low point in his friends life, and he’s seeking out some outside assistance/suggestion, and of course, instead of receiving some actual help, he’s hit with some true on-the-nose sarcasm, as this character does best.

Question 11

Who Proclaimed, “Custard? Good. Jam? Good. Meat? GOOD!”?

This is another relatively simple question, because once again it deals with food. It’s impressive that a character could be so memorable when most of his quotes revolve around food, but here we are. And once again, meat has come into the equation, as it’s one of this character’s favorite food groups. Of course, in this instance he’s surprisingly talking about a dessert that Rachel made, and he seems to be the only one in the group that actually enjoys it.

Question 12

Who Said, “Fine! Judge All You Want, But Married A Lesbian, Left A Man At The Alter, Fell In Love With A Gay Ice Dancer, Threw A Girl’s Wooden Leg In A Fire, LIVE IN A BOX!”?

This is another pretty obvious question, mainly because any fan of the series will be able to use the process of elimination to find out exactly who said it. In this instance, one of the female members of the group is calling out all of the faults of her friends, and they’re pretty glaring moments in each of their respective lives. This character has her own problems now and after some judgment, she finds the need to point out every one else's love situation as well.

Question 13

Who Proclaimed, “pi-VOT!”?

This is definitely one of the funniest scenes in the entire show, and this line is said when this character is attempting to move a couch up a series of stairs with Rachel and Chandler. And of course, he spends the entirety of the time attempting to boss them around and tell them exactly what they need to do. This is a frequently seen character trait with this individual, and he can come off as pretty annoying because of his know-it-all attitude.

Question 14

Who Said, “We Were On A Break.”?

This particular line is actually stated several times throughout the show by this character, and it becomes somewhat of a catch phrase for him. He always says it when talking about how he ended up attempting to see other people while he and one of the other characters of the show were taking a break from their relationship (or were they?) to evaluate themselves. And this line is also one of the funniest running jokes throughout the whole series.

Question 15

Who Said, “Gum Would Be Perfection.”?

This is another classic line from this character, and it happens when he’s caught completely off guard by an attractive supermodel that is trapped with him in a massive power outage. As his friends are caught inside their own home, this individual ends up getting trapped in an ATM vestibule with an extremely attractive model, and he can’t seem to think of the right thing to say to her, in fact he makes a fool of himself by making the wrong decision at every turn. The night ends up going in his favor when they eventually break the ice and she kisses him on the cheek.

Question 16

Who Said, “My Sister’s Gonna Have My Baby!”?

This is actually a slightly more difficult question, because it actually doesn’t pertain to any of the main members of the group, but with one of their siblings. While attempting to find a surrogate to carry he, and his much older girlfriend’s child, this character ends up deciding on allowing his sister to carry his child for him. And in this episode, he ends up going over to his sister’s friend’s place and he shows up with a pregnancy test and a lollipop, and she takes the test and reveals to him that she is indeed pregnant.

Question 17

Who Said, “Look At Me! I’m Chandler! Could I Be Wearing Any More Clothes?”?

You may think this would be the easiest question on the quiz, because there’s actually a character’s name in the question, and the person saying it is claiming to be him, but this is a trick. This is actually a character making a joke about Chandler as he puts on all of the clothes he owns, and he purposefully wears all of his clothes without wearing any underwear. This is revenge because Chandler actually borrowed this character’s underwear without asking permission.

Question 18

Who Said, “But They Don't Know That We Know They Know We Know!"?

So this is as confusing to write out as it is to talk about, and that’s because it’s the most confusing quote ever uttered in the show. In this specific episode, Joey, Chandler, and Phoebe find out that Monica and Chandler are dating, and they use this information against them. When Chandler and Monica find out about this, they begin to mess with their friends back. Eventually Phoebe, Joey, and Rachel find out that Chandler and Monica know, and they stop the vicious cycle of who knows what.

Question 19

Who Said, “I Don’t Even Have A Pla.”?

This character is probably the easiest to relate to in the whole show. She doesn’t take herself or her situations too seriously, and she’s always the first one willing to lend a hand when things get tough for her friends. She also tends to just go with the flow and is constantly just allowing life to push her in (hopefully) the right direction. This description is heightened by the fact that when she utters this phrase, she’s actually wearing a pajama onesie, and sipping on a milkshake.

Question 20

Who Yelled, “Oh God. Can Open, Worms Everywhere.”?

This is the perfect line to describe the situation that this character finds himself in. After years of living with the same roommate, he realizes that his supposed “friend” has been licking all of his silverware, thinking that would clean it. Which is just about the most disgusting thing ever conceived. And when this realization is made, naturally, this character freaks out and berates his friend for quite a while over this truly disgusting habit. And nobody can sell this line quite as well as this great comedic actor.

Question 21

Who Said, “If It’s A Girl, Phoebe, And If It’s A Boy, Pheebo.”?

This quiz tends to have a running theme, and that happens to be that most of these lines happen to line up perfectly with each character’s personality. And though this line is easy to identify, it’s still a defining line for her character. And when she finds out that her friend is pregnant, she has no shortage of suggestions for the given name of the child. She suggests the name of one of the characters in the show, but who said it?

Question 22

Who Said, “Thirteen Bathrooms In This Place, I Threw Up In The Coat Closet.”?

After this character is more than fed up with attempting to impress her boyfriend’s parents, she ends up getting sick and throwing up in their house. And after she’s put through the ringer with them, she decides that she’s over listening to their constant complaining, and she tells them the truth, that she ended up throwing up in one of the only rooms where that’s unacceptable. Luckily, her boyfriend is just as cool as her, and honestly, also didn't like his parents very much.

Question 23

Who Gave The Advice, “You Can’t Just Give Up! Is That What A Dinosaur Would Do?”?

This is probably the greatest advice anyone can give another person, and it’s uttered on this particular program. While this character is trying to motivate Ross and help him to realize that he has to go after Rachel, even though she had already said goodbye to him. This, and many other pieces of advice, lead him to his ultimate decision of running after the woman he loves. So on top of being, perhaps, the best advice throughout the show, it is also one of the most crucial.

Question 24

Who Said, “PlayStation Is Whack.”?

This is another classic moment for this particular character, one that’s showed up countless times throughout this quiz. In this instance, this character has an audition that he has to prepare for, and he has to convincingly portray a 19-year-old. So, in order to come across as a young man, he dresses up in a ridiculous costume that consists of an extra small basketball jersey, a beanie, and his underwear riding particularly high. And as if that wasn’t ridiculous enough, he attempts some street slang, and well, ruins everything.

Question 25

Who Said, “You Know If You’re Not Careful, You May Not Get Married At All This Year.”?

This is the sort of jab that could only be successfully delivered via this character. And it’s the ultimate insult to Ross who seems to be jumping from relationship to relationship, in hopes of finding the one. And the character that delivers this line seems to find great joy from putting down his friends, and is fueled by a desire to be sarcastic at all times in the day. And he’s also the most clever character in the show, which means he has the best lines out of everybody.
