There are so many different and interesting characters that come and go during the Grey's Anatomy series. What really sucks the most though, is when you get attached to one character, who starts to feel like family, and then, bam! Shonda kills them off, or they just disappear. There are so many of them who really make an impact in your life, and who you maybe even think resemble some people you may know. The real question is, can you remember all of these characters? Even the few who made an impact, but didn't stick around all that long?
Some of these characters are those we see in every single episode, and others we have only seen a few times, but they are vital to the story line. Some of the people mentioned are patients who made an impact in the show, while others are the actual doctors as well. Of course, some of these doctors have also been patients. And there are one or two who simply made appearances because they could. Let's see just how well you can remember these top Grey's Anatomy characters! This young female doctor was from the first few seasons of Grey's Anatomy. She joined our screens during the famous hospital merger. She came along with Charles, April and Jackson. She also butted heads with some of the original interns, like Izzie Stevens. The woman in this picture also suffered a tremendous amount of burns after she saved a young child's life, and her own too! Soon after that, she left the series.

The man in this picture was a real menace when we first met him - there is no denying that! He came across as arrogant and unfriendly. He was even nicknamed 'Evil Spawn'. Like some of the other doctors, he also managed to get around in the on call rooms - this even resulted in him spreading Syphilis to one of his peers. Since then, we have grown to adore him. We don't have much choice since every one else has left or died!

The woman in this picture was known as 'The Wicked Witch'. DO you even remember who she is or was? She first appeared on Grey's Anatomy when Izzie was still on the scene. She was a very well known cardio-thoracic surgeon who often competed with Preston Burke. She never really seemed to have much of a following at the hospital, but we know that Callie Torres had the hots for her! They really seemed to like each other very much!

The handsome young man shown in this picture is fairly new to us as well. He is kind of like the 'New Derek'. But, we know that there will never ever be another McDreamy! This man also spent some time working in the military, alongside Owen and Megan Hunt. Maggie misread some signs and assumed that they were going to be an item. Of course, she was devastated when she realized that he was way more interested in Meredith Grey.

He was madly in love with Lexie - although they were on again, off again. They made a super cute couple as well! He also slept with his best friend's wife - Addison. This gorgeous redheaded lady is really something! She was first introduced to us as an intern in the merger. She used to carry a little notebook with inspirational quotes and notes to build herself up. Like the other interns from Mercy West Hospital, she wasn't like all that much. Luckily all the doctors eventually learned to love her and accepted her in to the family. She also married Jackson. They had two children together, but this relationship was also short lived.

Unfortunately she cheated on her husband with Mark, and this tore their marriage apart. She had a few other flings, including hooking up with Alex Karev. This poor guy is no longer with us. Unfortunately he got hit by a bus - and died. He was in intern and one of the original doctors. He was in love with a couple of ladies, including Meredith, Callie and Izzie. Every thanks giving he is dragged off to hunt a turkey with his family. The doctor in this picture was brought in to try and save the hospital from going bankrupt. She was there to help make costs, fire people and stream line processes to ensure that money was saved. Of course, she was not accepted by the staff with open arms. She had to push through a lot of resistance, and at the end the entire plan was dropped. She likes to hum to herself while she operates on patients in the OR.

The lady in this picture is a cardio thoracic surgeon. She spent many hours and days saving lives in the war, alongside Owen Hunt and Nathan Riggs. Although they struggle to admit it, her and Owen are actually in love. This, of course, causes some frustrations because Owen was already in a relationship with Cristina. Owen eventually married Cristina, but the marriage was short lived. Actually, the same can be said for his last marriage with Amelia. This was not a match made in heaven!

Soon after, she was adopted by Derek and Meredith. She also has one brother, and one sister. Although she was not Meredith's real mother, she treated her well and she tried to make her part of the family too. One day, she came in to the hospital for treatment. Just like any other story, these two actually fell deeply in love - after they got married. This guy survived a number of disasters, including being shot and being in a plane crash. Ridiculously though, he was in a car accident which proved to be fatal. Anyone who didn't cry in that episode obviously has no soul! This was the 'guy in the bar' who married Meredith on a post-it. He was also known as the one and only, McDreamy.

She was not on the Grey's Anatomy scene very long but she did leave a legacy!

Yes - the lady in this picture has no eyebrows. You can ask her would-be mother-in-law why this is the case. She was one of the twisted sisters who almost married Preston Burke. He said he left her at the alter for her own good - but maybe it was thanks to those eyebrows actually... She then married Owen and after that failed she hooked up with Shane Ross, and they ended up moving to Zurich together to work at Preston's hospital.

We haven't included many patient's in this quiz but we'd like to see how well you remember this lady. She was involved in a very significant and memorable time in Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital's life. She was present when the gunman ran rampant in the hospital, shooting everyone in his way. Thankfully, Dr Bailey's smart and quick thinking was enough to help save her. Although it was kind of pointless because when she returned for her next surgery she died anyway.

This doctor was a surgeon who actually seduced Arizona, and got her to lose control. She also helped in the NICU when the Perfect Storm hit, leaving the hospital understaffed and in dire-straights! Although Arizona was still involved with Callie at the time, she slept with this lady anyway. While she was at the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital she also operated with Jackson Avery and Arizona. She managed to coach them both, and the surgery was a huge success too.

We believe that this is a result of her annoying happiness and over-the-top perkiness too. She even had a thing for Derek - luckily it was very short lived! Eventually, she ends up in a very tight bear hug from Cristina and Bailey which helps to calm her and soothe her symptoms as well. She is actually a cardio-thoracic surgeon and she is one of the best in the business. She was actually called in to replace Erica Hahn.

The man in this picture decided to become an intern at a very late stage of his life. Of course, he wasn;t very popular and most other doctors had little, or no time for him. Although he was sweet and kind, this wasn't much help to his career. He actually mentioned to Alex that he was feeling ill and needed to go home. Alex, being Alex, told him to suck it up. Later, this old intern collapsed in the OR and had a stroke.

This woman is actually Derek's sister. Heather phoned this woman to ask her to come and donate a nerve for Derek to use in his hand. In case you were wondering, she is also a medical doctor, just like her brother, and sister Amelia. Although, they never actually mention her specialty, we can guess it isn't neuro or psych. Their sister, Kathleen, is involved in the mental health profession, so it may be safe to assume that she is not in mental health.

For years the family thought that she was actually dead, and Owen blamed Nathan. When she finally made an appearance, it was discovered that she was actually alive and living in a small town with her adopted son. She needed surgery, and luckily for her she had Meredith on her side, and she was able to assist.

This old man made many appearances, some of which were less appealing than others. He is the father of three beautiful girls, two of which we know very well as well. He was a drunk and also needed a liver transplant. He used to be married to Ellis, but with her work and affairs, they were unable to keep a normal marriage going. He even confused one of his younger daughters for Meredith, probably because he was too drunk to remember.

This is another one of Derek's sisters. But, the question is - do you know which one it is? You'd never guess it - but she is a doctor as well! Yip, although, she is an OB GYN, and not in to neuro surgery like her siblings. It's no wonder that she got along with Addison as well as she did, they both had the same interest in specialty after all! We can also assume that she may have slept with Mark - who didn't?

The doctor in this picture is often mentioned in Grey's Anatomy. His name is that of an award give to extraordinary doctors as well. He visits the hospital as a patient once, and he requests to have an awake surgery - which is allowed. When he has to go back for a second procedure, Derek insists that he will be put to sleep for it. In a later season though, he has a meeting and actually dies in the boardroom.

They made tons of trouble together, and when she decided to make an appearance at the Hospital she also made some havoc for Meredith.
