The founders council played a big role in the begning of The Vampire Diaires, espeically the first season. Elena is never too far from her journal. She writes throughout the entire series and it is something that her and Stefan can connect over. It is a form of therapy to her and started way back when her mother gave her a journal when she was just eight years old. Klaus leaves Mystic Falls pretty abruptly. One minute he is building a home and planning on staying for a while and the next he is whisked away to New Orleans where he has a whole new set of plans. Now he may have just gotten bored of the small town and people that are Mystic Falls or he may have had a legit reason for running out of town without looking back. When he left he left Caroline who he claimed he loved.
Why does Katherine turn Caroline into a vampire?
Although she is one of the evilest and cruelest vampires on the show Katherine is also one of the smartest. She always has a plan and a reason behind her actions. And most of the time she is able to guess what her enemy next three steps are and outsmart them. When she turned Caroline it was kind of a spur of the moment thing but she did have a reason for turning the preppy, blond cheerleader into a blood sucker.

Caroline has a bit of a rough relationship with both her mother and father, especially in the beginning of the series. She is angry at both of them for getting divorced and when she becomes a vampire she does her best to hid it knowing that the only thing they have left in common is their hatred for vampires. Like we mentioned above the Gilbert rings are pretty powerful and can prove helpful to those who are constantly surrounded by supernatural creatures. Only two of them were ever created way back in 1864 so when Alaric showed up in town wearing one it was pretty confusing to everyone once it became known what they were and whose they were. Everything fell into place and made complete sense once more information was revealed and family secrets were uncovered and brought to light.
Why do Caroline & Matt break up?
Caroline and Matt were an unexpected couple. When Caroline was a human she was pretty shallow and self centered whereas Matt was down to earth with a kind heart. But the two seemed to have a lot in common and were able to create quite a strong bond in a short amount of time.
