Do You Have Enough Attitude For The Attitude Era?

1.7K Shares

Once upon a time, Vince McMahon would set the wrestling industry on fire and wage a war against territorial promotions across the land. One by one they would fall underneath his massive empire. The use of closed circuit television, acquiring top talent and hosting events in his enemies territories were key factors in his war campaign. The other promotions had no chance to survive McMahon’s wrath.

“Our very strength incites challenge. Challenge incites conflict. And conflict... breeds catastrophe,” said Vision in Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War.” That challenge was Ted Turner and he created the WCW. Now you may be asking yourself what that has to do with the Attitude Era.

After WCW started beating WWE in the ratings, McMahon needed to switch things up, and the Attitude Era would come out of the necessity to survive. No longer was the story lines cheesy fluff but rather realistic issues that could transcend into pop culture. The characters would become edgier, darker, and much more relatable to the fans.

The unpredictability of the Attitude Era made it a great time to watch wrestling and we may never see anything like it again. McMahon would eventually defeat his biggest rival, Turner, and would go on to conquer the wrestling industry. Do you think you have the knowledge to call yourself a fan of the Attitude Era? Good Luck.
