Did It Happen On Gossip Girl Or The O.C.?

From the moment the pilot aired, The O.C. became a cultural phenomenon. Its witty dialogue, ubiquitous pop culture references and incredible soundtrack set it apart from its contemporaries. The series ran for a mere four seasons from 2003-2007 and while it certainly had its ups and downs, it introduced us to characters that were both lovable and relatable. The O.C. was also a rare instance of a teen show with equally compelling adult characters.

After tackling the West Coast, creator Josh Schwartz and his production partner, Stephanie Savage, set their sights on the East Coast. Gossip Girl had a completely different feel, but it was easy to see that it came from the mastermind behind The O.C. - the same can be said of the team's most recent venture, Hulu's Runaways. If you're not watching it, you really should be.

Although both shows were impossibly quotable and endlessly entertaining, one thing that they were known for was their over the top storylines. At times, these plot points could seem almost interchangeable. Are you a fan of both shows? Have you watched every episode enough times to remember which series is responsible for which stories? Take this quiz and find out! Did It Happen On Gossip Girl and The O.C.?

Someone traded his girlfriend for a hotel.

It's kind of crazy how many fans continued to ship this couple, despite the overwhelming evidence that they were bad for one another. Of all the awful things these two did to each other, this character trading sex with his girlfriend for ownership of a hotel is the absolute worst. He sold her body to his creepy uncle while they were dating! Of course, she wasn't in on this romantic decision. Strangely, neither fans nor the girlfriend stopped loving the character after this.

Question 5

A character shot her boyfriend's brother.

Considering this guy was the reason our hero found himself in the slammer in the show's pilot, fans knew that him showing up meant trouble for his little brother. Luckily, our heroine wound up not only staying sober, but also learning a valuable lesson.

Question 8

Someone fell off a cliff to their death on the beach.

Both shows have a habit of introducing a character, making you love that character and then turning them into a different character altogether. That was certainly the case with this guy. A main character tried to force himself on two different women...in the pilot episode!

It's pretty crazy that a character who would go on to become so beloved tried to rape not one, but two different women in the pilot episode alone. The showrunners probably didn't realize what a huge part this character would eventually play or chances are, they wouldn't have made his actions in the pilot quite so despicable.
