There's a storm on the horizon. The catastrophes taking place on Earth have been escalating at an alarming rate, and you have good reason to believe that all of this is linked: there's something out there, something bad, and it wants to come to Earth. You don't know if it's an alien overlord, a cosmic artifact, an entire species of alien invaders, or what, but you know that the fate of everything (and everyone) that you know and love is at stake.
So what are you going to do? Well, assemble a team of superheroes, of course.
Luckily, your whole world seems to be full of people with special powers of one sort of another. However, if you want to assemble the perfect superhero team to take on this threat from above, you need to be choosy. The types of heroes you populate your team with, and whether they get along with each other or not, will make a big difference in regard to the future of your world. So let's find out, are you going to save the world with the Avengers... or the Justice League? Create the perfect superhero team from the options listed below, and find out, Do You Belong in the MCU or the DCEU?
Who's putting the team together?
Okay, so other than you (of course) you need to start by picking someone who is going to do the hard, strenuous work of gathering all these disparate personalities together for one cause. Seriously, superheroes aren't always the easiest people to handle. Who will be in charge of putting your team together?
The Brains
Okay, so now you've got your team project underway. Sure, you're pretty smart (you must be, if you're taking this quiz!) but with the weird alien shenanigans you're going up against, you'll need a genius. Like, a REAL genius. Someone who can work the labs, invent new technologies, all that stuff. These are your options:
The Brawn
Okay, now it's time to pick your powerhouse. Superheroes are, by definition, more powerful than the average man, but you need someone who makes other superheroes look like lightweights in comparison. Who is going to be your muscle?
The Heart
Okay, so that covers brains and brawn, but let's not forget something that's even more important: the heart. Someone has to keep morale up, to make sure that all these superheroes remember WHY they're fighting, and WHAT they're fighting for. Who will be the warm, beating heart of your superhero squad?
The New Kid
Okay, it's time to bring in the newbie! Fresh blood is a necessity to keep morale going, and so now, we're going to enlist a young, relatively inexperienced superhero -- but with a lot of heart, and passion -- onto your team. Who is the new kid going to be?
The King
It's time to reject some royalty into the mix. Here, you have the option of two very different kings from two very different lands, only one of whom can earn a place on your team. Both of these men would make a fine addition to any superhero team, but you can only have one. Who will it be?
The Alien
Given that there's a big alien threat coming to Earth, it makes sense that you're going to want to have some kind of alien on the team. But what alien will it be? Do you prefer one who has been out in space most of his life, or one who grew up on Earth?
No Powers? No Problem.
Almost everyone on your team is going to have superpowers, which is good, because you're up against some powerful foes. But at least one person on the team will have no powers, believe it or not. Who will your powerless hero (or heroes) be?
The Help
Okay, so outside of your main superhero team, you'll need to have a non-superpowered person who helps you out. This person will play a key role in keeping the team together, even if they're often on the sidelines. Who will it be?
The Veteran
Yep, you're lucky enough to have a veteran on your team, and that veteran will be someone who fought in one of the two major World Wars. However, you only get to choose one. So who will it be, the WWI vet or the WWII vet?
Who is manning the computers?
You're going to have a high tech laboratory at your disposal (you're welcome). However, the computers in that lab are crazy advanced, and will require someone with a lot more technical knowledge to operate them. Who will be manning your computers?
Who cracks the jokes?
Despite all their powers, superheroes can sometimes get pretty dour, serious, and depressing. You'll need someone to lighten the mood from time to time, to tell all the best jokes, to always punch up the dreary scenes. Or maybe your whole team is full of smartalecks?
Mr. Money Bags
Managing a team of superheroes is an expensive business. Between gear, costumes, and property damage, you'll need to have someone with some serious funds to bankroll your operation. Who will be supplying the cash?
The Outsider
Not everyone fits in easily. While Tony Stark can be a party animal, other superheroes have a harder time in groups, and some never feel like they really belong. Which of these outsiders would you rather have on your team?
Which ancient mythology do you prefer?
Both the MCU and the DCEU take a lot of inspiration from ancient mythology... however, they each follow a DIFFERENT mythology. Be careful, because whichever mythology you choose to incorporate in your universe can be quite dangerous: sure, you'll get the good gods, but you'll also get the evil ones.
Who does the weird, clever tricks?
Okay, so some superheroes have pretty conventional powers: strength, flight, etc. But we're going to add one person to your team who has really unconventional, weird abilities, like turning small trucks into giant ones. Which of these weirdos would you rather have on your team?
The insider with a deeper understanding of the threat
You predicted that the aliens were coming, but honestly, the chances are that you don't really understand them that well. How could you? You're a mere Earthling. So you're going to need an "insider" who really, really understands what's going on, and can help you plot out your moves.
Shady government problems to watch out for?
Sorry, here's some bad news: while you're busy trying to save the world from terrible things, the U.S. Government is doing some shady, uncomfortable stuff behind your back. If you had to guess, which of the two possibilities seems more realistic to you?
The Sidekick
In addition to your main assortment of heroes, one of the heroes who have already chosen will have a sort of "sidekick" -- that is, someone who works alongside the hero, but doesn't usually go off on their own adventures. Which of these sidekicks would you rather have on your team?
The voice of the common man?
So hey, you have a lot of crazy powerhouses on your team, but you want to keep things real, right? So you need an average person, a voice of the common man, someone who knows what it's really like out there and will speak on behalf of Earth's marginalized communities. Who will it be?
The Jerk
Just because superheroes save the world doesn't mean that they're always going to be nice people. We'll break it to you gently: one of the people on your team is a huge jerk sometimes. Which of the following "d-bag" behaviors would be easier for you to tolerate on a team?
The magician
Time to put science aside, because now, magic has entered the picture. Yeah, that's magic. Real magic. Sorcery, spells, all that jazz. You need someone who understands magic if you want to keep afloat. Who is it gonna be?
The grizzled, cynical one who has seen it all.
Sure, you need some bright and inspirational figures on your team, to keep morale up. But sometimes, it's good to have a grizzled, beaten down, angry guy on the team as well, to let you know how dark things can REALLY get if things go wrong. Which would you prefer?
The Reformed Criminal/s
While we're getting into the dark and seedy side of your respective universe, let's look into the idea of adding an actual criminal to your mission. Or maybe multiple criminals? How dark are you willing to go?
The Wings
Flying is a necessity for any superhero team. The chances are that you'll probably have at least a few heroes on your team who can fly, but let's look at ones who are chiefly remembered for their flying abilities. Who do you want?
Your base
When you get your team of superheroes together, you're going to have to gather them all in one place, and the local Starbucks might not be the safest location. No, you need a specialized base of some sort. Where is it going to be?
The one with more power than they can handle
Some heroes are literal gods, some are omnipotent... and some are more regular people, who came into power way beyond their comprehension, and now aren't quite sure how to handle it. Not their fault: power is a heavy thing to handle. But it can be dangerous to the team.
Which worrisome conflict between heroes would you prefer to handle?
Okay, more bad news: two of the heroes you've picked for your team are going to have a major conflict. Sorry, it's inevitable. Chances are, this battle of wills may rip the team apart. But if you have to choose between one of the conflicts below, which one do you think you'd prefer to handle, and hopefully move on from one day?
The Voice of the Street
In the cities, a lot of crime and corruption has broken free now that superheroes and supervillains exist. As a result, there are heroes who spend most of their time taking on lower level threats, gangsters, the mob, and so on. Which of the following street level superheroes do you want on your team?
The Voice of Wisdom
Sure, you got some geniuses on your team, but you also need someone who is wise. Someone who understands people, who is compassionate, who knows how to bring people together and can predict whether decisions are good or bad. Who would you prefer?
The Speedster
When things start moving, and explosions start happening, you need someone who runs at exceptional speeds. Both of these superheroes have the exact same powers, but you only get to have one of them. Based on their personalities, who would you choose?
The one who thinks he's a monster
Someone on your team doesn't have the highest opinion of themselves. To be quite frank, this person considers themselves to be a "monster," though we think they're being a little harsh. However, if you've got to pick one of these heroes for your team, who will it be?
The special agent
You're going to have someone on your team -- or assisting your team -- with experience in espionage. Which is good, really. However, which sort of special agent would you rather have by your side?
What's the problem with your world?
Something is wrong with the world. Really, it is. And we're not talking about the alien invasion either, because at this point, you have that covered. Rather, there's a deeper sickness running through the veins of society. What is it?
The bigger threat on the horizon
Congratulations, your team of superheroes has saved the planet! However, some bad news: there's now an even bigger threat coming your way in the near future, that you're going to have to fend off. Good luck! What's going to happen next?
