Fast food is something that almost everyone can agree is both good and bad. After all, it's not really the healthiest thing to eat, but at the same time, it can be really satisfying in moderation. With the number of choices when it comes to fast food, it can sometimes be hard to pin down where to get lunch or dinner (and in some cases, breakfast). There are so many options that people typically have a few favorites and a few places where they absolutely will not go.
That's what makes fast food so interesting when it really comes down to it. There are so many places that are essentially doing the same things, like burgers and fries, and yet they are all unique in their own ways. Then, of course, there are the other places that are serving up pizza, chicken, sandwiches, and even ice cream or donuts. Fast food might just be one of the most diverse food groups out there, so which one is the best to pick when given a choice? It's not always the easiest decision to make.
Whichever fast food option ends up being the chosen one, it sometimes also can determine a person's taste for what kind of dessert they want. After all, there's nothing better after a fast food meal than something sweet, and this quiz can reveal which one is the best based on people's fast food preferences! What will the dessert of choice be? will it be something cold? Something warm? OR something completely unexpected?
McDonald’s or Burger King
When it comes to getting a fast food burger, the options are fairly clear. The frontrunners are always McDonald’s or Burger King. Legend has it that Burger King just finds out where McDonald’s is building its new locations and buys real estate in that same area. So the real question is what burger is going to be the most satisfying? The classic Big Mac with its two beef patties and special sauce or the flame-grilled Whopper? Which one is going to get people in the door?
Taco Bell or Wendy’s
The next question is a classic fast food dilemma: burgers or tacos? Of course, Wendy’s offers so much more than just burgers, with its chili, salads, chicken sandwiches, and the inexplicable fast food baked potato. However, Taco Bell has its own share of cool creations, including the Doritos Locos taco. It really all comes down to what people are craving: the familiarity of a big, square burger (and maybe a frosty) or the crispy, spicy, cheesy flavors of a taco.

Shake Shack and In-N-Out are the classic burger chain rivals. One thrives throughout the East Coast, and the other is a West Coast fast food staple. Both of them offer famous burgers, shakes, and fries. That’s not even mentioning the fact that both restaurants have extensive secret menus that only the savviest fast food aficionados know about. At In-N-Out, you can get a burger Animal Style, but at Shake Shack, you can get a burger with peanut butter and bacon. So who wins?
Carl’s Jr or Sonic
Carl’s Jr, sometimes known as Hardee’s depending on what region it is found in, is known for its truly big burgers. These massive offerings have everything from bacon to jalapeños to onion rings topping them, making Carl’s Jr one of the more ambitious burger places to really put wild ideas out there. On the other hand, there is sonic, the classic drive-in restaurant that offers fast food staples like burgers, fries, and even hot dogs. However, Sonic is mostly known for its wide array of drinks, which include fruity slushies and creamy milkshakes.
Popeye’s or KFC
Fried chicken is something that almost everyone can agree is totally delicious. First, there’s that perfectly seasoned breading, then the marinated chicken waiting inside. When it comes to fast food fried chicken, there are the obvious choices: KFC or Popeye’s. While KFC is known for its secret blend of eleven herbs and spices, Popeyes chicken has developed a reputation all its own as being one of the best fast foods available on the market. However, KFC has some secrets, like the Double Down, which Popeyes can never replicate.
Tim Horton’s or Dunkin Donuts
Tim Horton’s has only recently made its way into the United states, but it has proven itself worthy to stand up against other donut and coffee shops. People in Canada have always known that Tim Horton’s is the kind of place where you hit the drive-thru before work to get a breakfast sandwich, muffin, donut, or bagel, and of course a nice big cup of that famous Tim Horton’s coffee. However, Dunkin Donuts has always been a staple of the early morning snack, providing great coffee and baked goods as well. Who wins?
Pizza Hut or Little Caesar’s
Pizza is always a winner. Whether its for a party or to repay friends who helped someone move, there’s no denying that pizza is by far one of the most popular fast food items out there. There are plenty of choices of where to get pizza, though. Pizza Hut is a total classic, and has plenty of variations on pizza to make it more interesting. Little Caesar’s on the other hand always has pizza ready to go with its famous hot and ready pies (and that amazing crazy bread).
Long John Silver’s or Church’s Chicken
Long John Silver’s and Church’s Chicken are both dark horse candidates for someone’s favorite fast food restaurants. At Long John Silver’s people can find delicious fried seafood served up every day. Things like cod, whitefish, shrimp, and even battered chicken populate the menu, making it a great spot for any one who wants a quick seafood meal. Church’s Chicken, on the other hand, has always been the fried chicken place that people forget about, despite the fact that they serve delicious jalapeno peppers as a side dish.
Subway or Quizno’s
When people want a submarine sandwich, they have two big places to choose from: Subway or Quizno’s. Subway is usually the obvious choice, with its wide selection of sandwiches, toppings, and of course those delicious cookies. However, Quizno’s has its own charms, such as the fact that all of their sandwiches are toasted, giving them a nice crispy texture. It all depends on whether people are looking for a hot sandwich, or one that is cold but packed with fresh veggies.
Arby’s or A&W
If people want to go somewhere lesser known for a burger, then they usually head to A&W. The restaurant is probably best known for its famous root beer, but it is also the home of the burger family. People can walk in, get a papa or a mama burger with fries (or onion rings!) and a tall, frosty mug of root beer. However, a restaurant like Arby’s offers something a little more different than the typical fast food place. People looking for a nice roast beef sandwich might go there instead.
Dairy Queen or Krispy Kreme
When people want something sweet, they have their choices in front of them. There is always Dairy Queen, the ice cream shop serving up everything from ice cream sundaes to cones, to the classic blended Blizzard. Dairy Queen also serves up hot food, like burgers and chicken tenders. On the other hand, for something that is just purely sweet and really beloved, people might not look any further than Krispy Kreme. Their famous glazed donuts are sweet, soft, and the perfect treat for any time of day.
Chipotle or Panera Bread
Chipotle is the place to go for a nice big burrito. They also serve up some great bowls, quesadillas, and even nachos (if people ask for them). It might cost a little extra for guac, but it really is worth it. On the other hand, if people just want a traditional soup and sandwich for their meal, they might head over to Panera Bread. Jack in the Box or Five Guys
Jack in the Box is yet another fast food place that really stretches its muscles by trying to serve a little bit of everything. People might recognize their famous mascot, Jack, or they might be familiar with their burgers, fries, and even tacos! On the other hand Five Guys (Burgers and Fries) is doing on thing really well, which is making traditional burgers and serving them up with a side of fries and maybe a nice cold shake to wash it all down.
Chick-fil-A or Popeye’s
Chick-fil-A’s chicken sandwiches are famous across the United States. They are delicious, simple, and famously not available on Sundays, leaving many people wanting for those 24 hours. The sandwiches come in a variety of flavors, but the traditional one is the most popular. Popeye’s has a few sandwich options, but it is more about providing traditional pieces of fried chicken. They also have chicken tenders and even shrimp, so people can get whatever they want, whenever they want. Which is the better chicken place?
McDonald’s or Wendy’s
Comparing McDonald’s to other burger places almost doesn’t seem fair, considering the cultural capital the Golden Arches has in the fast food game. After all, most people would probably just go for a quarter pounder when they want a regular burger. However, when the craving for pizza hits, there’s not much else out there that can satisfy. However, Wendy’s has delicious burgers, fries, and the inimitable frosty, which is both the perfect dessert and the perfect dip for some salty fries. Chipotle or Long John Silver’s
Sometimes people want a different choice than just burgers and pizza. That’s why they head to a place like Long John Silver’s. They want a nice piece of fish, some hushpuppies, and fries. Otherwise, they might go to a place like Chipotle, which always uses fresh ingredients and rolls up a nice big burrito or folds up a delicious quesadilla. It might be harder to decide between these two. After all, Long John Silver’s offers platters where you can get a little bit of everything.
Five Guys or Subway
When people are looking for a quick meal, they sometimes have to consider whether it will be healthy or not. If people want something that’s not quite as heavy as a burger, they might go to Subway and get a cold cut combo loaded up with lots of veggies. Otherwise, they might say that it doesn’t matter, because fast food is a treat, sending them squarely in the direction of a place like Five Guys for a burger, fries, and maybe even a chocolate shake.
Burger King or A&W
The burger battles continue with Burger King facing off against A&W. While burger King’s famous Whopper is flame-grilled to perfection and topped with plenty of fresh produce, A&W has a lot to offer besides its burgers. After all, there’s no way anyone could get a root beer float at Burger King unless a staff member was willing to bend the rules and make one for them. Plus, A&W is famous for its burger family and onion rings. Which burger place gets the win?
Taco Bell or Shake Shack
Once again, the choice comes down to tacos or burgers. The only difference this time is that the burger place is the famous Shake Shack, home of some of the best burgers and shakes on the East coast. While they may offer up some truly tasty burgers, which can be complimented with cheese, bacon, and even their famous sport peppers, Taco Bell is, well, Taco Bell. It’s the obvious choice for a lot of people, especially if they are craving a Crunch Wrap Supreme.
Arby’s or Wendy’s
Roast beef sandwich or burger? It’s a tough question if people aren’t entirely sure what they want to eat. After all, there are lots of different sandwiches at Arby’s that can satisfy a person’s hunger, not to mention those absolutely delicious curly fries they are so famous for. They even introduced a sandwich called the meat mountain, which has pretty much every meat that Arby’s sells on it. Can Wendy’s compete with such a monumental sandwich? The classic triple is, after all, fairly big in its own right.
Krispy Kreme or Sonic
People have all kinds of different cravings that can send them in many different directions. When they need something sweet, the choices can be a little bit daunting. After all, there is always Krispy Kreme, serving up its famous, delicious donuts (which are about a million times better when they come right off of the line). However, there is also Sonic, slinging delicious desserts and plenty of good fast food to go with it. Which one is going to be the winning choice?
Carl’s Jr or Panera Bread
Carl’s Jr is the kind of place where people go when they just want to eat something satisfying without any regard as to whether it is healthy or not. They might just want to bite into a big, tasty bacon cheeseburger and have some fires and bot even think about it. On the other hand, people might want a lighter choice, sending them in the direction of the nearest Panera Bread, where they can get a wholesome but hearty sandwich and maybe a nice bowl of chili or soup on the side.
Quizno’s or Church’s Chicken
Quizno’s and Church’s chicken are often seen as the second choices to their main competitors (or, in some cases, even third or fourth). That’s really too bad, because Church’s has been serving up quality fried chicken and sides since the 1950s. On the other hand, Quizno’s made a name for itself selling sandwiches that were toasted to crispy perfection and loaded with melty cheese and hearty meats. So which one of these dark horse candidates is going to be the winner in this fast food showdown?
KFC or Pizza Hut
KFC or Pizza Hut? Sometimes these two business might even be in the same building. However, when the time comes to choose, which is going home with people: a bucket of that classic fired chicken, or a couple of extra large pepperoni and extra cheese pies (which may or may not have a stuffed crust)? It all depends on what people want to eat. It’s hard to go up against those herbs and spices, but Pizza Hut is the kind of place that has always been a family classic.
In-N-Out or Taco Bell
Now this is a battle for the ages. Both of these fast food places have their devoted followers, but who is the best choice? After all, In-N-Out has a famously customizable menu, the options of which seem endless. However, Taco Bell always seems to be introducing new and innovative food items to give customers almost anything they can think of as long as it vaguely resembles a taco. So in this match up, who comes out on top: burgers or tacos?
McDonald’s or Little Caesar’s
McDonald’s is practically he king of fast food. After all, it’s the one place that always seems to be there when people need it. They can just roll through the drive-thru, put their order in, and be on their way. They’re home chowing down on a burger and fries before they know it (if they haven’t eaten all the fries in the car). However, Little Caesar’s really changed the pizza game when they started offering pizzas that were ready as soon as people walked through the door.
Shake Shack or Pizza Hut
Shake Shack is the kind of place that need to be visited when people are in the right place to find one. They are fairly rare in the United states, and the lines to get food can sometimes go around the block. Are the burgers worth all the waiting? People seem to think so, but if the wait is going to be that long anyway, why not grab some pizza from pizza hut? Their pies are always delicious, customizable, and have that famous crispy crust.

Fried chicken or ice cream? Chicken tenders that are spicy and come with extra hot sauce or ones that come in a basket and include a nice frozen treat for afterward? That’s the question that arises when putting Popeyes and Dairy Queen up against each other. Both of them have their benefits, but when it really comes to deciding between the two, it all depends on what kind of craving people have. After all, spicy fried chicken is a pretty far cry from a peanut butter cup Blizzard.

Subway may have footlong sandwiches that are loaded up with meat, cheese, and as many fresh veggies as people want, but Wendy’s has the famous frosty. How could anyone resist that frozen treat? It’s not quite chocolate, it’s not quite vanilla, but it somehow is both of them at the same time and something altogether better. Jack in the Box and Chick-fil-A are two cult hits in the world of fast food. After all, some people really do swear by the Chick-fil-A chicken sandwiches and will not even try one from any other restaurants. No one can blame them, really. Those Chick-fil-A sandwiches are about as close to perfect as a sandwich can get. On the other hand, sometimes people just want a box of tacos, fries, and chicken tenders, which is definitely something they can get at Jack in the Box.
A&W or Sonic
Finally, A&W goes up against Sonic. Both of these fast food places famously started as drive-up businesses, with some locations still serving food to people in their cars. Times may have changed, but the food at both places has stayed firmly in the realm of traditional fast food fare: burgers, fries, shakes, sodas, etc. However, both places have their own special drinks (Sonic with quite a few different ones, actually) that might give them an edge.
