It's hard to pick a favorite sport as there are so many great ones to select from and even more great athletes to choose, that picking a single favorite sport is not easy at all. There are the big name sports, but there are also some smaller ones that have incredible athletes that do amazing things on their playing surface, that it's hard to narrow it down to just one sport. So try doing so by picking your favorite athletes. These star athletes are what make their sport what it is and put it in the spotlight. It's the athletes that get fans out to the games to see some highlight moments, and it's the athletes that win our hearts in come from behind victories.
The debate will never be clear-cut as to what sport is the best of them all, as everyone has their own unique opinion about why a sport is important to them. For some sports, it is part of their culture, their heritage growing up, while for others, they just get lost in the season and stats. Lionel Messi is often considered the greatest soccer player in the world, as Messi has won a record-tying five Ballon d'Or awards as the FIFA Player of the Year. He has spent his entire career with Barcelona where he has won 33 trophies and he has scored over 600 goals in his career.

Mike Trout is considered one of the best players in Major League Baseball and has already been a two-time AL MVP and seven-time All-Star with the Los Angeles Angels. He was also the Rookie of the Year in 2012 and was league RBI and home run leading in 2014.

The face of the NHL is still Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins who is still considered by many to be the best player in the game today. Since he has come into the league, he has been the face of it and has led the Penguins to three Stanley Cups.

Roger Federer has won the most Grand Slam titles of any player in men’s tennis with 20 victories, eight of those coming on the grass courts at Wimbledon. He also has been a world number-one ranked player, having been in that spot for 310 weeks.

Lewis Hamilton is one of the most successful Formula One drivers in history and currently holds the records for all-time most career points with 2,823, the most wins at different circuits with 26, the all-time most pole positions with 77, and the most grand slams in a season with three.
Michael Phelps?
Michael Phelps is the most decorated Olympic of all time, having won 28 medals in total, including an Olympic record 23 Gold medals. He won eight of those Gold medals at the 2008 Summer Games where he swept the podium in every race he was in.

If big money boxing is your thing, than Floyd Mayweather is the boxer to pick. Mayweather went undefeated in his professional career with a record of 50-0, including huge wins over Oscar De La Hoya, Manny Pacquiao and Conor McGregor, all of which made the highest paid athlete in the world.

Conor McGregor is considered one of the best mixed martial artist in the world, having won both the UFC featherweight and lightweight championships, holding them both at the same time. He’s the biggest pay-per-view draw in MMA history, having headlined four of the six biggest MMA events in history.
