Pokemon has really taken a life of its own ever since the franchise was created in 1995. Pokemon has been one of the most popular gaming franchises around the world, and still is today.
The release of Pokemon GO! took the world by storm upon its release and is still going strong. Besides video games, Pokemon has also been successful with its anime series, movies, trading cards and merchandise.
Pokemon has been around for a long time and just keeps getting bigger. There has been a total of 802 different types Pokemon among seven generations of gaming, and that could change with new games and generations coming out.
However, this huge franchise started out with just one generation of Pokemon that consisted of 151 Pokemon. These 151 Pokemon are known as the original Pokemon in the franchise.
The first ever games in America, Pokemon Yellow, Blue, and Red, introduced the United States to the original 151 Pokemon. These games were released in 1998, while the original Pokemon games were released in 1996 in Japan.
While the franchise continues to grow and grow, these original 151 Pokemon continue to be the most well known and the ones all fans hold close to their hearts.
