Can You Name All These Normal-Type Pokémon?

Normal-type Pokémon are the garbage trash of the series. They are fit only to fill up the numbers in your Pokédex, before being banished to the PC box forever. How dare they profane your sight with their lame designs and sub par stats...

That is the opinion of a lot of uninformed Pokémon trainers in the world. The truth is that some of the most powerful Pokémon in the series are Normal-types. Game Freak recognized early on that the Normal-types had several significant disadvantages, so they gave them some powerful benefits to make up for it. Three of the most powerful Pokémon in Red & Blue are full Normal-types. The most difficult Gym in Gold & Silver is the Normal-type Gym in Goldenrod City. All the Normal-type needs now is for an Elite Four member or Champion that specializes in the type, to finally give them the respect they deserve.

It is true that Normal-type Pokémon generally have the most basic designs of the series, as they are often associated with the Pokémon that closely resemble real life animals. There are a few Normal-type Pokémon which break this mold, one of whom is the literal God of the Pokémon universe. That's right, God is a Normal-type Pokémon. Do they need a bigger endorsement than that?

If you clicked on this quiz, then you probably think that you know your Normal-type Pokémon. These are the most common kind of Pokémon that exist in the entire series, so we have the most options to choose from of all of the types in the series. So, Can You Name All These Normal-Type Pokémon?

Question 1

You will need to play a snazzy tune on a flute to wake this Pokémon up

This sleepy Pokémon has been one of the most dominant beasts in the competitive scene since the days of Red & Blue. The reason this Pokémon is so feared is due to its stats. This Pokémon has an absurdly high amount of hit points and decent defensive stats. It can also hit like a truck when pressed into battle. You are going to need to bring a souped-up Machamp that is ready for combat if you want to have any hope of taking this beast down.

This egg is one of the most powerful Pokémon of all time

The nicest looking Pokémon in the series also happens to be one of the most deadly. This happy pink egg has slain more enemies on the battlefield than almost any other Pokémon in the competitive scene. Don't let that smile fool you. Only the most powerful physical hitters in the game will have a chance of breaking through this egg's mighty defensive shell.

Question 3

This Pokémon has billions of potential designs

This Pokémon is notable for one reason. It isn't a great fighter and doesn't have access to powerful moves. What makes this Pokémon special is the designs on its body. You have a less than one in four billion chance of finding two of these Pokémon that are alike. Game Freak created a special program that determines what kind of spots appear on this Pokémon's body. This means that every version of this Pokémon that you see will be different from all of the others.

Question 4

Good luck catching this guy in Pokémon Red & Blue

The final Normal-type tyrant of the Pokémon Red & Blue era is this bull. You can only catch them in the Safari Zone, where they have a tendency to run away at the first sign of danger. It is worth catching one of these Pokémon. They have amazing stat distribution across the board, as well as one of the best move sets in the game. The high speed of this Pokémon makes it one of the best users of Body Slam, which has a good chance of paralyzing the opponent and leaving them helpless.

Question 5

Fear the power of the Hyper Fang!

The original junk Pokémon of Red & Blue was a purple rat, who evolved into a creature that more closely resembled the real life animal that it was based on. This Pokémon once had a signature attack, called Hyper Fang. It dealt damage, along with having a chance to cause the opponent to flinch. Hyper Fang was later given to other Pokémon as well, which took away one of the best reasons to use this big fat rat on your team.

Question 6

It's Pay Day, Pay Day, gotta get down on Pay Day

This Pokémon is second only to Pikachu in terms of appearances in the anime. This is because it is a member of Team Rocket and they have been stalking Ash since the second episode of the series. This Pokémon is known for using the move called Pay Day, which increases the amount of reward money you receive after winning a battle. The game gives you more than enough cash, so it's pointless for people on a Pokémon journey, who find money all over the place.

Question 7

This Pokémon has the powers of a Predator

Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire introduced a chameleon Pokémon to the series. This Pokémon has the ability called Color Change, which allows it to change its type to that of the last move that it was struck with. Question 8

You can catch God in a ball

It is possible for an eleven-year old child to catch God in a Pokéball in Pokémon Diamond & Pearl. If you want to roast level 5 Pidgeys with the Judgement attack, then you can. This Pokémon had an event built around it, where you had to use the Azure Flute in order to access the Hall of Origin. You would find the creator of all life in the universe awaiting you at the top of a long staircase. You then had to battle God. This event was never officially activated for some unknown reason.

Question 9

Mega Evolution is a frightening thing

This armored kangaroo Pokémon was ignored for a long time. It could only be caught in the Safari Zone in Pokémon Red & Blue, so most people didn't bother with it unless they were trying to fill the Pokédex. Mega Evolution grants this Pokémon the Parental Bond ability, which it allows to double the amount of attacks of certain moves.

Question 10

This Pokémon needs a Moon Stone to evolve

Game Freak has had no problem creating numerous different cat Pokémon for the series. It is the same with other common animals, such as dogs. They use the excuse of multiple breeds to basically recreate the same Pokémon over and over again. This Normal-type cat Pokémon was introduced in Ruby & Sapphire. If you want to evolve it, then you will need a Moon Stone. This Pokémon is notable because it can breed with Wailord. It's best not to think about how this happens.

Question 11

This Pokémon can transform into anything you want

One of the most pointless gimmick Pokémon in the series is this one. It has the ability to transform into its opponent. All of the moves are limited to 5 PP, which heavily restricts what it can do in battle. There are some people who believe that this Pokémon is connected to Mew. This is because they can be found in the area where Mewtwo was created and may have been failed experiments. This Pokémon and Mew are also the only creatures in the series who can use Transform.

Question 12

It's time to grab some evolution stones

This Pokémon once had the unique trait of having numerous evolutionary forms. You could transform this Pokémon into three different forms, depending on the evolutionary stone that you used on it. This started out with Fire-type, Electric-type, and Water-type forms. The most recent form added to this Pokémon involves turning it into a Fairy-type creature.

This Pokémon might have the most utility of any creature in the game, but it lacks the stats to pull anything off.

Question 15

The ruler of the Titans of Hoenn is a slow starter

The three Titans of Hoenn are Regirock, Regice, and Registeel. They have a trio master, who slumbers within the Sinnoh region. If you bring the Titans to him, then he will awaken and challenge you to a battle. This is a Pokémon with excellent stats that is crippled by its ability. Question 16

Your Dad hired a gorilla to beat you up

There are some Pokémon that have incredible stats and an amazing set of moves, which are basically unplayable in combat due to an ability that hinders it in battle. This is one such Pokémon. This Pokémon has the Truant ability, which means that it cannot attack for two turns in a row. Later generations allowed it to use some moves after it has attacked, but these generally don't make up for the fact that it cannot keep striking. You may want to give this Pokémon a miss.

Question 17

This new form was introduced in Pokémon Diamond & Pearl

Most fans of the Pokémon anime are likely familiar with Lickitung. This was one of the signature Pokémon of Team Rocket, as Jessie caught one and used it on her team. Lickitung would see a new evolution in Pokémon Diamond & Pearl, as you could now evolve it, so long as it knows Rollout. This transforms Lickitung into a new Pokémon that can have an ability that prevents it from being confused. Any fans of Team Rocket may want to consider using this Pokémon on their team.

This Pokémon famously died in the anime

This Pokémon recently became famous due to the fact that one of them died in the recent series of the anime. Ash discovers a Litten that is taking care of an elderly version of this Pokémon. You may not want to watch it without a box of tissues.

Question 19

This Pokémon was designed to fight the Ultra Beasts

There are a few Pokémon that have been confirmed to have been created by humans. Mewtwo, Porygon, and Genesect are the most well-known examples. The Aether Foundation created this Pokémon in order to make a weapon that could be used to fight the Ultra Beasts. Its design is based on the myths of the God of all Pokémon. The reason it has a patchwork design is that this Pokémon was created from the pieces of other powerful creatures in the world.

Question 20

This was one of Ash's first six Pokémon

This Flying-type Pokémon is a common sight in the first games in the series. It would also see many appearances in the anime, as Ash Ketchum catches one in the first few episodes and uses it throughout most of the Indigo League, before releasing it after it evolves into its final form. An under-leveled version of this Pokémon can be caught in Pokémon Yellow. This was intended to be another reference to the Pokémon anime, upon which the game was based.

Question 21

Ash used one of these Pokémon during his journey through Johto

It didn't take long for Ash to replace the Flying-type Pokémon. He used this Pokémon throughout his adventures in the Johto region. Ash's version of this Pokémon was actually a Shiny. This makes it the only Shiny Pokémon that Ash has ever used in the anime. This also didn't stop Ash from dumping this Pokémon off at Professor Oak's place when he was finished with the Johto region. Ash must be the only trainer in the world who doesn't like showing off his Shiny Pokémon.

Question 22

No Ice-types, No cry

Most Dragon-type Pokémon in the series will go for Flying if they have a second type. This Pokémon is an odd example, as it is a Normal/Dragon-type creature. This Pokémon quickly gained attention, due to the fact that it kind of looks like it has dreadlocks on its head. The Normal/Reggae-type Pokémon isn't used that often in the competitive scene, however, due to its unworkably slow speed. The only reason you should use this Pokémon is if you plan to use a Trick Room team, or need to buy a bag of weed.

Question 23

It's time to make Alola great again!

A quiz about naming different kinds of Pokémon isn't the place where you will find political discourse. Yes, we are going to bring up the President of the United States of America, but only in relation to his resemblance to a specific Pokémon. When this Pokémon was first announced, it immediately drew comparisons to Donald Trump, who was still running for office when Pokémon Sun & Moon were being promoted. Was this design an intentional choice on Game Freak's part?

Question 24

Free hugs for everyone!

This is a Normal/Fighting-type Pokémon that was introduced in Sun & Moon. You will face one on the team of Hala. A version of this Pokémon has become the protectors of Team Rocket in the latest season of the anime. It lets them hang out in its den and even gives them food from time to time. The only problem is that it interrupted them during a battle in which Team Rocket finally defeated Ash and were about to take his Pikachu.

Question 25

The power of music can transform this Pokémon into a warrior
