Lightsaber colors are not purely decorative and have significant meanings behind them. Their meanings include "to protect" for blue, "peace" for green, "used for negotiation" for orange, and "to keep Sith away and patrol the galaxy" for yellow. Lightsabers are often crafted or are received from a Master Jedi or Sith.
The appearances of Lightsabers can vary greatly. There are different hilts with different shapes and length. Count Dooku uses a curved-hilt which increases his finesse with strikes and slashes.
