There are many different types of movie heroes and we love them all. Whether he is a classic hero; almost perfect except for one flaw, or an invincible masked and caped superhero - we just want to see him beat the bad guy and whenever possible - walk away with the pretty girl too. We feel sorry for the tragic heroes who have lost their way and we cheer for the anti-heroes like Deadpool even though they have crippling flaws. Sometimes a hero doesn't even set out to save the day and we root for these reluctant heroes as well. Just give us a good hero and a well-matched villain and you'll have our attention.

There's another type of hero that is gaining in popularity - the everyman hero. We love this type of hero because even though he may not be the strongest or the smartest he's in the right place at the right time and this leads him to do something incredible. He often has no special powers or talents but it makes no difference. We can all see a little bit of ourselves in the everyman hero hence why we find characters like Bilbo Baggins so relatable.
