For some reason, there seems to be a lot of rivalries between female stars popping up in the news these days. Whether one lady goes on Twitter and tears apart another or lets her dislike for another slip during an interview, it seems like these ladies in fashion, music, film, and just about every other industry don't get along too well. Whatever their reasons (It tends to be a guy more often than not), they trade barbs online or in offhand comments all the time and--while it isn't likely they will ever work well together--it's probably wise not to get between the two in a small room.
To be fair, there are a lot of rivalries we could have chosen and many of these women have more than one rival to pick. On occasion, these women have had rivals of the more gentlemanly persuasion, but this quiz is made up entirely of women. We kicked around some of our favourites and came up with the following quiz of 25 celebrity women and their rivals. Can you name them all? How well do you know your pop stars, models, and actresses?
Christina Aguilera
Christina and this lady used to work alongside one another for a number of years, but as each of them grew in popularity, they became rivals to the spotlight. Whether Aguilera was calling her 'trailer trash' in an interview or called her out for purchasing her own engagement ring, they never seemed to get along very well behind the scenes. Describing her rival, Aguilera said, "She seems to me like a lost little girl, someone who desperately needs guidance." Her rival didn't take this kindly and returned fire in a subsequent interview.
Hilary Duff
It seems a lot of these rivalries started out as a result of some guy who got in the way. Back in 2004, that's exactly what happened when Hilary Duff and this other star began hooking up with the same guy. To be fair, he didn't exactly date them at the same time, but went from one to the other and back again over a number of years. This didn't sit well with the former friends who became bitter enemies.
Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian has a few rivals to speak of, but like a few others mentioned on this list, we will only have one of them listed as possible answers. Kardashian called this person a "two-faced b*tch", which isn't the best way to make friends and influence people. The feud began after an interview that left Kardashian feeling ganged up on. Kardashian has even tweeted nasty comments and helped to popularize #IHateFakeMediaFriends on Twitter for a little while. It's doubtful the two will ever make up and this feud should continue for some time.
Chelsea Handler
This feud is particularly nasty and it goes back to Chelsea's best friend whom we won't mention for fear of giving it away. She has used her platform to call this woman a "f-----g lunatic" and even roasted her attorney at a charity event. Handler has been incredibly outspoken regarding this other woman's divorce and even referred to it as an emancipation for the gentleman involved. Her comments have been bitter and personal, which has only helped to make the rivalry nastier than most on this list.
Rihanna
Though they have both come out to say their feud in 2011 was all hot air, these two singers keep coming out swinging every few years. Twitter has been their battlefield of choice like so many ladies on this list with Rihanna posting gems like "My bad _____, did I forget to tip you?" Other tweets and comments in interviews have pitted these two against one another over the past few years. Whether a run-in is described as "unpleasant" or not, they just can't seem to remain civil to one another.
Mary-Kate Olsen
In yet another example of why it's probably not a good idea to introduce your ex-boyfriend to another woman you are close to, Mary-Kate Olsen did exactly that when she introduced Stavros Niarchos III to this woman. After the two started dating, their friendship was pretty much over and while they were pretty good friends before the introduction, they simply aren't any longer. “(She) and I always had only nice things to say about each other. Now I guess you can tell we’re not talking.
Tyra Banks
Tyra Banks and her rival have been feuding since the 1990s and their disdain for one another hasn't fizzled with time. Banks calls the feud some of the "lowest times" of her life. Their feud began when Banks came onto the fashion scene in Paris and was immediately compared to the lady in question. Allegations of bullying, getting one another fired from modeling gigs, and a media that only helped to drive the feud on finally culminated in a face-to-face sit down in the early 2000s.
Katy Perry
Katy Perry seems to get along fairly well with most other people, but there is one ongoing feud that seems to take the Internet by storm every few months. Sometimes, these two women would trade vicious barbs via Twitter or through an interview, but most of the time, they wouldn't name the other, which left fans to figure out who she was talking about (It wasn't hard). This particular feud has been going on since 2012 and there doesn't appear to be any sign of it cooling down.
Lauren Conrad
At one time, these two women were close friends, but it has been over a decade since they were remotely friendly with one another. The feud began after a purported sex tape of Lauren surfaced. When this supposed friend failed to contact her and offer support, things started to get ugly. It soon became clear that the rumours of the sex tape's existence came from the lady in question and the friendship between the two has been sour ever since.
Shannen Doherty
This leading lady has had some very public spats with several female costars over the years. In some cases, this has led to her termination from whichever show she was working on and rumours of her attitude and inability to play nicely with others have only increased over the years. This particular rivalry is one that began on a television series and did, in fact, lead to her termination. We'll give you a hint: it wasn't Little House on the Prairie.
Heather Locklear
Heather Locklear and this other woman were, at one time, the best of friends. Their strife arose when Locklear's then soon-to-be-ex husband Richie Sambora started talking to this other person. If there's one rule a best friend should never break, it's not to date your buddy's ex-husband... or boyfriend. The relationship between these two leading ladies soured when the marriage broke up and Sambora started dating the other so it's unlikely they will ever reconcile. It's too bad since this pair was very close for a long time.
Selena Gomez
These two ladies began as friends and became bitter rivals over... can you guess? Yes, it was a guy. Justin Bieber in fact. Gomez was so infuriated to learn that this person had hooked up with the Canadian pop star, she vowed to never again talk to her or have anything to do with her. The feud began even earlier when Bieber and this other woman began to get friendly together, but they patched it up... for a little while anyway.
Paris Hilton
Paris and this woman began as very close friends and even worked together for a time before things took a turn for the worst. This feud may have begun due to one person being under the other's shadow as People Magazine has speculated, but Paris has never really come out and said what happened between the two. "(She) knows what she did, and that's all I'm ever going to say about it." It was rumoured to have something to do with her released sex tape, but there haven't been any confirmations.
Taylor Swift
If there's one star out there these days who has a lot of rivals, it's Taylor Swift. The singer/songwriter just can't seem to go five minutes without getting someone fired up about... something. To be fair, we have gone ahead and listed four people down below, but only one of them is a rival of Swift's... at least that we know of. Whether it's to do with her songs, the constant breakups, or a random tweet, Taylor Swift just can't seem to stay on too many people's good sides.
Miley Cyrus
This rivalry began on Twitter, but may end up in the courts if it continues to escalate. The conflict began with an open letter from the lady in question urging Cyrus not to "prostitute herself", which really didn't go over well with the "Wrecking Ball" singer. She was even compared to Amanda Bynes at a time when she was undergoing psychiatric care. Further comments enraged the pop star such as “Miley Really? Who is advising you? Because taking me on is even more stupid than behaving like a prostitute and calling it feminism.”
Madonna
If there's one thing you shouldn't do around Madonna if you want to become or remain her friend, it's to interrupt her during a live broadcast and throw things from your makeup bag. For anyone who caught the 1995 broadcast of MTV's Video Music Awards, that's exactly what this rival did and let's just say the two never became BFFs as a result. Madonna immediately told the person interviewing her not to let the woman up there, which is exactly what the producers decided to do... and it got ugly from there.
Nicki Minaj
Though she was once quite cordial with this woman, the relationship between her and Nicki Minaj devolved into little more than f-bombs and a reported gun threat. Minaj being caught having a profanity-laced outburst that was reported on TMZ only went to show how much these two ladies disliked one another. Given what has been seen publicly between these two women, it seems Ms. Minaj may be the one who either started the feud or poured gasoline on the fire. Her outbursts even led this other person to hire additional security.
Kelly Osbourne
Kelly Osborne's feud with this rival began when Osborne said the following "I said, f--- you, now you're fat too! ... Now you know how it feels." This was apparently due to this other person calling Osborne fat for years and when a few pounds found their way onto this lady, she launched into her. Eventually, the two made up, but their feud lasted for a while. Nobody likes being made fun of, but calling another person fat in front of the rest of the world didn't make their relationship the friendliest.
Azealia Banks
Azealia Banks and this person have been lashing out at one another online for a long time. Whether it's on Twitter or Instagram, the two have been going back and forth on pretty much everything. Banks, a supporter of President Donald Trump, lashed out at this person after she posted her discomfort with him winning the 2016 Presidential Election. Neither woman held back online and the Tweets got personal, though most of them have since been deleted by both women.
Lil' Kim
Lil' Kim has had a feud or two during her time in the spotlight, but she is only one of many who got on this particular lady's bad side. It all started when Kim mentioned on a radio show that this other artist stole her sound as well as her style. Well, that didn't go over well and the rivalry culminated in both women releasing various musical tracks dissing each other. The feud died down for a short while but was again reignited in 2013 with yet another track.
Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan has certainly pissed off a lot of people over the years and her drug & alcohol problems that got her involved in legal troubles didn't help her reputation. Of all the spats she has had with creative types and celebrities, this one was pretty epic. They began as friends when they were kids, but after a very public fight in 2006, the two became bitter rivals. Lohan even mentioned something very personal about this person to the press and even called her a c--t, which is one of those words most folks don't walk away from.
Demi Lovato
When compared to the other rivalries on this list, this one is more of a lighthearted disagreement between two women who work in the same industry--only it has nothing to do with the music industry and everything to do with personal politics. In an interview with Glamour Magazine, Lovato questioned the feminist cred of her rival by saying “I don’t see anybody in any sort of squad that has a normal body. It’s kind of this false image of what people should look like. And what they should be like, and it’s not real.”
Amanda Bynes
Amanda Bynes has had her share of problems. Various outbursts on Twitter and out in public ended up with her being committed on several occasions to get treatment for psychological problems. While her medical issues were ongoing, she began a feud with this lady and it got nasty. Both women had legal issues and when a tweet went out to the world comparing one to the other, there was certainly no love lost between the two. This was a classic example of needing to mind your own business.
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga stormed onto the music scene and made a name herself with her unique style... only she was quickly compared to another hit star in the music world and their rivalry blossomed pretty quickly. While they initially claimed to be fans of each other's work, allegations that "Born This Way" was a rip-off of this other star's work only made things worse. It appears that the two have made up and their rivalry may be over with, but they were against one another for a long time.
Gwyneth Paltrow
Gwyneth Paltrow isn't just an actress, she has a few side businesses as well that became the cause of this particular feud. The feud began in 2014 when Paltrow began a new venture to break into an established industry, which ruffled the feathers of this particular person. She suffered a few jabs in the media and some underhanded comments in print before she commented on it publicly saying, "No one has ever said anything bad about me before, so I'm shocked and devastated."
