Planning a wedding, or just enjoy creating playlists for everyone to enjoy? It really does not matter for this quiz, all we need if for everyone taking it to be a hopeless romantic at heart! Love songs are something almost everyone can agree on. People who don't like country bend the rules for love songs, people who shy away from rock or anything with too much angst feel deeply when listening to some of the genre's classics. Love is once again the thing that brings us all together! The quiz will contain songs from all kinds of genres, and generations. Making the quiz itself a fairly awesome romantic playlist, but that is not the point here...We need each of person to say yes or no to these romantic classics so we are able to give out the perfect wedding song for everybody! We are willing to bet everyone taking it has to stop the quiz at some point just to play one of the songs, they are just too hard to resist!
So come on everyone, lets have some fun remembering all the best the world of love songs has to offer, there is nothing to lose, and only finding a dream wedding song to gain.
"Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper
To all the ladies in the house...we know no one can resist Cyndi, and her perfect 80's style. Her songs are legendary, and this one in particular was a romantic hit of the generation. For those not familiar, this song was released back in 1984, and was actually nominated for the "song of the year" Grammy the following year!
"Crazy In Love" by Beyonce featuring Jay-Z
It is very hard to remember a time before Beyonce and Jay-Z were everyone's couple goals, isn't it? Even after the whole Lemonade debacle, we still see them standing strong together, and simply killing it as our favorite power couple. Yes or no to this one going on the playlist?
"My Heart Will Go On (Love Theme from 'Titanic')" by Celine Dion
For some reason even just looking at a picture of our girl, Celine, belting out this hit song makes us want to reach for the tissues. Anyone who has not seen Titanic by this point is strongly urged to pause this quiz, and go watch it. The theme song alone could move anyone to tears. Add to the playlist?
"Everlong" by Foo Fighters
Sure, it may be a little angsty, but what is young love without a little angst mixed in as well? This song does not only have romantic lyrics, but the story behind it is quite lovely as well. Foo Fighters front man, Dave Grohl, wrote it after recently being divorced, and finding his true love all over again. Yes or no?
"Just Like Heaven" by The Cure
Even if it is not recognized by its title, or its band, we are willing to bet that if everyone were to go and play this song right now, they'd be able to sing along to it rather quickly. It has been used in popular movies, and TV shows pretty much since it's release. Yes or no to this pop culture hit?
"When a Man Loves a Woman" by Percy Sledge
Even if there is someone who has not heard the full version of this song, we are willing to bet almost everyone has heard it in bits and pieces over the years. It really is one of the worlds best known love songs. Who's romantic playlist does this belong on?
"Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol
Do we have any Grey's Anatomy fans in the building?! This song was an instant hit, and has been getting radio play ever since it first came out. The song saw even more success after it was used in Shonda Rhyme's hit TV show Grey's anatomy. For those who have seen the show, there is no arguing about whether or not it goes on the playlist!
"My Love" by Paul McCartney and Wings
Paul, Paul, Paul, how has he been making us cry for all of these years? There is no denying this man knows romance, maybe better than anyone else. whether professing his love alone, along side the Beatles, or in his group Wings, he really knows how to lay it all on the line.
"Wind Beneath My Wings" by Gary Morris
Even if his is not the most famous version of this song, we have got to give the man credit, because he really can sing it! We don't mind if everyone sings it to themselves in the voice of Bette Midler, the question remains the same, is the song playlist worthy?
"Remember When" by Alan Jackson
Here is one for all the country music fans in the house! We dare any non-country music loving folk out there to try to listen to this song without getting chills, and teary eyes. It simply is not possible. We do respect anyone who chooses to leave it off the playlist though...
"Endless Love" by Diana Ross and Lionel Richie
Putting these two together really had no chance at failing. Even if they had expected success with this number, the artists themselves would not have assumed exactly how big the song would become. "Endless Love" has become one of the most famous love songs of all time. Truly a classic. Yes or no for the playlist?
"Something" by the Beatles
To be honest we could have probably created this quiz solely using Beatles songs, considering they have about a billion love songs to choose from. This song is arguably known as the greatest track on their album "Abbey Road". What do we think about this one? on or off the playlist?
"Dog Days Are Over" by Florence and the Machine
This song is an emotional roller coaster on all sorts of different levels. It was released in 2008, and was part of this English Indie band's first album, gaining them major success right off the bat. If anyone has not heard it, please take a listen! Yes or no for the playlist?
"My Girl" by The Temptations
Just like the Beatles, The Temptations have more love songs than we could ever possibly fit into a 10 minute quiz, but if we could we would! They are timeless, and their words are divine. No romantic playlist would be complete without at least one of their tracks. Would this one make the cut?
"We Found Love" by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris
It can't all be about the old classics now can it? This track has been a major success in recent years, and looking at the two artists behind it , it is easy to see why. If anyone's playlist needs a little something to dance to, this would be an excellent choice!
"Love Song" by Sara Bareilles
Some may say this one is not actually a romantic song, but we beg to differ! What is romance without heartbreak? It is all part of the same game, and we think, Sara, did an excellent job outlining how even seemingly happy relationships may be missing a little something to make them work. Play it, or skip it?
"The Lady in Red" by Chris de Burgh
If there is a song out there that could lead to women buying an article of clothing it is definitely this one. This song is what made the color red, the color of love! It is impossible to not envision the beautiful picture he paints for us in these lyrics. Yes or no to this ultimate classic?
"Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton
Ugh, our hearts are breaking just listening to this one...Who wouldn't want to be told just how wonderful they look on any given day or night? Imagine this one being playing during the first dance at a wedding, there is not a more emotional option out there! Agree or disagree?
"Bleeding Love" by Leona Lewis
Honestly where has this girl been? It seems forever ago that we were belting this hit love song out in our showers. Back when it was first released everyone was pretty certain we would be hearing a lot from this super talented artist. I guess we are still waiting...What do we thing? Yes or no?
"Love Story" by Taylor Swift
Some love her, some hate her, and some just love to hate her. In the past year her rep has gone way done, but that does not change the fact that she has released some of the most romantic love songs of the past few years. This one in particular was quite well received. Yes or no?
"At Last" by Etta James
It is kind of impossible to not sing out the title of this song right? This timeless classic has to be one of the most beloved songs in history, romantic or otherwise. Etta James's pure talent was enough to make any song a winner. What are we thinking here? Playlist or nah?
"Ain't No Other Man" by Christina Aguilera
This song is really just a blast! It may be incredibly hard to sing along with her, since she is super quick, and hits notes we could only ever dream of hitting, but it remains a classic nonetheless. Christina has been killing it on the stage, and delivering some of the most emotional performances of our time for years now. Yes or no, to this X-tina classic?
"Hero" by Enrique Iglesias
O.k, this song may have been released in 2001, but it is just dripping with 90's excellence. Enrique received insane amounts of praise for this track, and has yet to do something better than it. It is emotional, beautiful, and down right sappy. What's not to love? Yes or no for this one?
"Can't Help Falling In Love" Elvis Presley
It was only a matter of time before we got to an Elvis song. Before there was Prince, it was Elvis who was stealing the hearts of all the women across the world. This song helped his to do just that! Who wouldn't instantly swoon at those words? Add it, or delete it?
"Everything" by Michael Bublé
Dear sweet Michael Buble, he is truly a treasour, isn't he? We all know his real time to shine is December through January, but if we were to take the time to explore his non-holiday themed albums, we would discover a vast amount of romantic hits, originals and covers. What do we think? Leave him to the holidays, or play him year round?
"Stand by Me" by Ben E. King
This one is great because it does not matter whether we are telling our soul mates how we feel, or our best friend, the lyrics are meant to reach out to anyone we hold dear to our hearts. Also that movie was a hell of a heart-breaker wasn't it? Put it on the playlist, or leave it off?
"I Won't Give Up" by Jason Mraz
This super speedy singer is so darn lovable it hurts. He has great songs both in the romantic genre, and not, and we suggest anyone who enjoys this number to explore his other tracks as well. This song speaks about not giving up on one another, what could be more romantic? Yes or no?
"Lucky" by Colbie Caillat
This song, and its singer are very adorable indeed. Colbie has a reputation for writing adorably cute love songs, that are listened to around the world, but this one was always going to be a big one since it also features Jason Mraz. A combo like that could never fail.
"Wonderwall" by Oasis
O.k, so for all of our English people out there, we already know this one is an easy yes. For everyone else however it may be a bit trickier. This song was obviously received well, and has had enormous success, but it has also been classified as over played by a lot of people. Does this track make the playlist?
"Marry Me" by Train
Train has had a very hit or miss career. Their best work has been comprised of songs with no lyrical sense, but are instead just fun to listen to. With this track however they dug a little deeper into their emotions, and we think it paid off. Does this one make it to the playlist?
"Here Comes The Sun" by The Beatles
There was no way only one Beatles song was making this quiz, but we did limit it to only two, so we are pretty proud of ourselves! This one just had to make the list. It is such a popular song everyone should easily know it just by the title. Playlist it or no?
'We Belong Together' by Mariah Carey
Miriah is the real deal. Even if some don't care for her music, no one can deny the talent this girl has. Her pipes are still crushing the game, even years after she first became a star. This is only one of her massive hits, but we think its one of the best. Yes or no for this track making the playlist?
"Malibu" by Miley Cyrus
It was just last summer this song became everyone's favorite summer track. The lyrics are actually insanely beautiful, especially for anyone who has followed Miley's love story with fiancé Liam. Things look like they have worked themselves out for those two, but what about the song? Playlist worthy or not quite?
"Call Out My Name" by The Weeknd
People are falling head over heels for this guy left and right. It was only a few years ago when he first came around, and he has been dropping bangers on us ever since. This song is more recent than most of the others, but hey, if it is that popular, everyone here should know it! Does The Weeknd make the playlist?
"Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran
This is the song that made everyone take Ed Sheeran seriously. Sure he had some great songs before this one, but he is not a typical Hollywood face, so it took something of this magnitude for it to really happen. Since it's release it has made it onto several "best wedding songs of all time" lists. What do we think playlist material or no?
