Build The Ultimate Man Cave And We'll Guess Your Favorite Car

The older people get, the more likely they are to want a space just for themselves; someplace where they can get away from roommates and pesky family members and just unwind alone or with a few close friends. And for many males, that dream destination is a man cave.
A man cave is a place where someone can indulge in there favorite hobbies and pastimes. It’s where a guy can hang up the jersey of his favorite sports team or the posters to his favorite film series which would probably not be welcome in the living room of a family home. To put it simply, it’s a place where guys can totally cut loose and be themselves.
Unfortunately, having a man cave isn’t all that practical for certain people’s current living situations — as they may not be able to sacrifice their entire garage or basement for their own manly endeavors. But that still doesn’t mean we can’t fantasize about having a dream man cave at some point down the line.
Much like a man cave — which is largely an extension of a guy’s personality — a man’s dream car is another great indicator of where someone’s interests are at. So let's construct the ultimate man cave to match with a dream car!
What’s the primary purpose of this man cave?
Ever stop to think why you’d want a man cave in the first place. Sure, it’s always great to have a designated area for you and your friends, but chances are that the area will become dedicated to the hobbies that you guys have together. So are you a video game group, a sports group, or something else?
Pick a gaming system.
What man cave would be complete without at least one major gaming system? These are currently the biggest contemporary systems currently available on the market today. And while the PlayStation/ Xbox rivalry isn’t as heated as it used to be, most people still prefer one over the other. Or maybe you’re a Nintendo man.
Location of the man cave?
Most man caves are built in basements, which is probably because that’s where a lot of kids ended up hanging out with their friends when they were growing up. But maybe you were one of those friend groups that hung out in someone’s attack. Or maybe you want an entire guest house dedicated to your manly endeavors.
Individual recliners or large couch?
When you and your friends are hanging out in the man cave watching the big game or playing some Call of Duty, do you picture yourselves splitting one large wrap-around couch, or each sitting in your own personalized recliner? Remember, this is your dream man cave, so don’t be worried about the extra expense.
Pool table or ping pong table?
Let’s be honest, the majority of time spent in your man cave will probably involve staring at screens. So it’s a good idea to give yourself some real life, hand-to-hand games you can play with your friends as well. So do you prefer the precision of a game like pool, or the casualness of a game like ping pong?
Big screen TV or projector?
It seems like big screen TVs continue to grow in size just a little bit more every year, but they still can’t seem to outdo the projector. But unless you have a movie quality projector, you might end up sacrifice the quality of the picture in the process. So is bigger always better?
Poker table or board game table?
Do you and your friend prefer to play card games, like poker? If so, then you’ll probably want one of those felt card tables that you see at casinos. But if board games are more your forte, you’ll likely just want something that can comfortably fit the biggest board game you own.
Big and spacious or small and cozy?
Most people probably have the desire to build something as big as it can possibly be. But others may think that a hang out space should actually be a bit on the cozy side. A man cave does have the word “cave” in the title after all, and sometimes it feels nice to be tucked into a smaller area with your closest friends.
Pick a classic gaming system.
While it’s nice to keep up with modern trends, sometimes you still have to pay respect to the all-time classics. Which one of these classic gaming consoles you want in your man cave is probably largely contingent upon when you were born. Or when your parents finally caved under the pressure of you asking for a system.
Rather have a gym or a workshop attached to the man cave?
Man caves aren’t just about relaxation, they’re about having a space where you get to accomplish the things you enjoy most in life. So are you someone that likes to stay in great shape who would love a personal gym? Or are you someone who’s good with your hands who would like all of their tools in one place?
What kind of drinks are in the mini fridge?
When it’s time to unwind with a movie or the big game, are you someone who reaches for a refreshing soda? Or maybe you’re someone who’s a little more health conscious and you'd prefer something like a sports drink. Or maybe you long for a beverage that takes you back to your childhood when life wasn’t so complicated.
What kind of snack is always on hand?
No man cave would be complete without snacks! So are you someone who prefers something sweet or something savory? While there are certainly more snacks than this, we’ve stuck with some of the most popular brands that have been a staple of the snacking world for years. Which one would you rather have?
Rather have a soda tower or a popcorn machine?
While a soda tower would give you a bunch of options to choose from, a popcorn machine would only provide you with one thing over and over again: popcorn. But on the other hand, you can always pack the fridge with a wide variety of sodas anyway, whereas the popcorn machine will definitely make better popcorn than the microwave.
Rather play music through a vintage record player or surround sound?
To help figure out what kind of vehicle you’re into, we need to know if you’re someone who cherishes the past, or someone who would rather have the newest, hottest thing. While a surround sound system may indeed provide the better sound, it doesn’t have any of the nostalgia or character that comes with a record player.
Foosball or air hockey?
Here are another two games where you can practice your hand-eye coordination. Foosball is basically like table football (or soccer), though there are a number of incarnations of the game that involve other sports. Meanwhile, air hockey really doesn’t resemble the game of hockey at all, but it sure is fun.
What type of floors?
So what type of floors do you want on your man cave? Something cozy like a shag carpet? Or something that’s built to last like a hardwood floor or some polished concrete? If you consider yourself a handy man, this could be your time to shine. Or maybe the quality of the floor is of little concern to you.
What color are the walls?
When you think of a man cave you probably think of something that’s a bit on the dark side. There’s probably not a ton of natural light since it would make the place less cinematic, and the artificially lighting is probably sparse as well. So which wall color would make the place feel cozy?
Rather have a hammock or bean bag chair?
Most man caves seem like they would be decked out with leather recliners and couches. And those are all fine and well, but there’s no reason you can’t have a more creative way to relax. So would a swinging hammock be ideal for you to doze off in? Or is a bean bag chair more your style?
Rather have a massive movie collection or a massive video game collection?
While most males in their teens and 20s would probably want a man cave to play video games with their friends, of course, not everyone is into video games. If that’s the case, maybe you’re more of a TV/ movie person, who would rather sit back and just watch something when you’re relaxing as opposed to being a participant.
Does the man cave have a hidden entryway?
Many guys would just be lucky enough to have a man cave at all at some point in their life. But what about a man-cave that can only be accessed through a secret entrance? We’re sure we’re not the only ones who have fantasized about having a hidden room in our house at some point. So why not make it happen?
Rather have a bowling lane or a floor shuffleboard?
Why go to the bowling alley when you could have your very own lane built into your man cave? Then again, if you’re a shuffleboard fan, you may want to stick with this option instead since most towns already have bowling allies, whereas places to play shuffleboard are a little harder to come by.
Which movie series is on in the man cave most often?
If you’re looking to reveal your dream car, there’s a good chance that you’re already a fan of the Fast and Furious film series. But that doesn’t mean you like it more than one of the greatest action franchises of all time, like Die Hard. Or one of the best trilogies ever made with The Lord of the Rings.
Rather have a pizza oven or a patio with a grill?
Why order out for pizza when you can have a spot to make your very own pies for your friends and family? Or maybe burgers, hot dogs, and steak are more your thing — in which case, you’d probably want with stick to a grill out on the patio. Besides, making good pizza at home can be quite the challenge.
Are women allowed in the man cave?
They don’t call it a man cave for nothing. This is your sanctuary where you and your friends get to unwind and do what you want. But it’s also not as if you’ve reverted to being 8 years old again. So why can’t women enter the man cave every now and again so long as you want them to?
Rather have a batting cage or a golf simulator?
Both golf and baseball are two of the most popular sports where you need to have the least athletic ability. Which means that a batting cage and a gold simulator would be a great addition to the man cave! So would you rather work on hitting home runs or work on your driving game?
Does the man cave have to be spotless at all times or can it get a little bit messy?
The idea of having a “dream” anything is that it always has to be spotless. But what if it’s your dream to recreate your childhood hangout? Or own the beat-up pickup that you used to drive around in with your dad? Those things may have been perfect to you, and it wasn’t because they were spotless.
Which sports team has a jersey on the wall?
Of course, we can’t include every sports team in existence, and there’s a good chance that your all-time favorite team isn’t listed year. If that’s the case, you’ll probably end up going with the team that’s closest to where you live. Or maybe even more important — avoiding the team that you absolutely can’t stand.
Rather have a huge collection of books or a huge collection of music?
A man cave doesn’t mean you can only conduct stereotypical “manly” hobbies. Plenty of guys love to relax with a good book or by listening to their favorite band. So would you rather have the wall lined with more novels than can be read in a lifetime or stacks of CDs and records that would take years to listen to?
Rather have a dart board or a cornhole set?
Here are another two great hand-eye-coordination games that are fun to play with friends. While darts has long been a staple game found at most bars and restaurants, cornhole has enjoyed a lot of popularity in the last decade — though it’s typically played outside, meaning it might be best left out of some man caves.
Rather have every major video game console ever made or have access to every sports channel available?
Here’s where we separate the jocks from the nerds. Of course, those who enjoy sports can also enjoy video games — especially the sports ones — but there’s usually a clear distinction between people who would rather watch sports or rather play video games. So which side of the spectrum do you ultimately fall on?
